Creative Thursday with Marisa

Marisa Anne Cummings, a Los Angeles based artist + author + entrepreneur, actually started the Creative Thursday podcast in 2006. What? what! how is that even possible? And yes! she wishes she had kept it going after all these years. Yet as a small business owner, maybe you can relate? choices needed to be made, and a passion for painting and continuing to build her art business became her focus. Cut to over a decade later, armed with SO many more lessons learned, and a – can no longer be suppressed – desire to share them with you! Marisa is ready to make a return to one of the first creative mediums she loved, podcasting! Even more fired up than before, Marisa is looking forward to picking up where she left off on her creative journey through both – one her favorite things to do – having thoughtful, inspiring, keeping it real, conversations with fellow Creatives + Business Owners along with offering her own perspective as an artist and entrepreneur, traversing this online world. We’re talking everything from life + business + creativity + entrepreneurship.

ct087 How to Know if Online Teaching is Right for You? Jul 12, 2018

Show notes

A podcast with a twist; present Marisa invites past Marisa and her friend Susannah Conway, 2 Creative Women Business Owners sharing their thoughts on how they chose to follow their passions, build their businesses and share their stories and knowledge - at a time when teaching online had just began, laptops started to come with build in web cams, and no one really knew what a podcast was?! When you listen to us talk almost 8 years this month, you'll hear all of the same fears we had to overcome to pursue what we love the most. You are not alone. And now more than ever you can get the support you need!

Susannah and I are both so glad that we followed our desires and answered that call. And I know our students are too.

If you've contemplated teaching, or are already teaching in person - but have been on the fence for any number of reasons; not enough time, tech overwhelms you, you don't know where to begin, how to translate what you teach in person online, or don't know what you'd share? fear you don't have the "qualifications" or "credibility"? I invite you to consider this incredible opportunity to fulfill a purpose, to transform your life and the lives of others!

Watching this film may leave you and world view forever changed. One of the most profound, beautifully breathtaking, honest documentaries, I've seen. A reminder of one of life's most important messages, one that we all, especially those with sensitive, loving and open hearts ~ need reassurance of always and definitely NOW.

(My botched Monopoly saying/analogy didn't really apply, but you know what I mean. Stop what you are doing and GO see this MOVIE right away!!)

ct081 Betz White: on Redefining Your Business Philosophy & Pacing Yourself May 31, 2018

Show notes

Meet Betz White founder of Betz White Studio Knits, author, educator, pattern and kit, and ready-made home accessory designer, with a passion for thoughtful design that reflects your creative style! A long time friend of mine, and fellow entrepreneurial spirit Betz graciously joins me in a conversation about what it takes to be a pioneer and have longevity in the online, handmade space ~ through what is? what may be? (we're not sure yet) an exceptionally transformational time to be a creative business owner. Betz shares what was in her basement that inspired her newest business venture, what it really costs to attend trade shows, specifically NY NOW. And after realizing that maybe her ambitious desire to reach new goals, has also lead to her being harder on her self than she needed to be; Betz has decided to come up with (what I think is the best! that should be written on a t-shirt) new mantra for this year, that I think every one of us could take a moment to consider.
