Marisa Anne Cummings, a Los Angeles based artist + author + entrepreneur, actually started the Creative Thursday podcast in 2006. What? what! how is that even possible? And yes! she wishes she had kept it going after all these years. Yet as a small business owner, maybe you can relate? choices needed to be made, and a passion for painting and continuing to build her art business became her focus. Cut to over a decade later, armed with SO many more lessons learned, and a – can no longer be suppressed – desire to share them with you! Marisa is ready to make a return to one of the first creative mediums she loved, podcasting! Even more fired up than before, Marisa is looking forward to picking up where she left off on her creative journey through both – one her favorite things to do – having thoughtful, inspiring, keeping it real, conversations with fellow Creatives + Business Owners along with offering her own perspective as an artist and entrepreneur, traversing this online world. We’re talking everything from life + business + creativity + entrepreneurship.

This is where you start. {I'll let you in on a little secret, we all have an Inner Artist}

Even after 13 years as a working artist, I realized there was still a tiny part of me - who felt like an outsider, who didn't fully own her Inner Artist. It's funny how as we grow, new awareness comes to light just when it's the right time for us to see it or {hear it ;)}

So I made a t-shirt, in fact I made a few t-shirts {along with some new mugs and a journal ;)} to surround myself with a daily reminder ~ a reminder of how far I've come, and that even though no one ever gave me permission or a fine art degree, I too deserve to call myself an Artist.

And so do you.

A Paint Brush and a Dream Jun 27, 2019

This is when your Life as an Artist Begins.

Nothing brings me more joy than painting and helping people create their dream life and business, especially artists.

I say this, because today is an important day. For you the shift may be subtle, but for me it's BIG. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter of Creative Thursday.

Fifteen years ago, I draped a blue tarp across my bed, piled it with 5 small-ish canvases. I grabbed my paints, started painting, and I couldn't stop. In fact I never stopped painting again after that moment.

What was the turning point for me? What made me commit to my creativity - after years of stopping and starting with my art, questioning my "talent", and my right to call myself an artist, which turned to months of leaving one unfinished canvas resting on a flimsy easel, followed by reading "Walking in this World", "The Artist's Way" and "The Right to Write" all books by Julia Cameron - what made me commit to my creativity so much so that it became a thriving business? When did I give myself permission to pursue my dream of pursuing my Art?

It all started with A Paint Brush and a Dream.

And then the dream of supporting myself with work I love, grew bigger than me. It grew into a desire of helping fellow Artists with the same dream of turning their passion into profit.

Today is a celebration of Artists, Dreams and a brand new vision coming into focus.
