This Between the Seasons book episode explores Nightbitch a novel by Rachel Yoder, a work of magical realism about a mother longing to reclaim her identity of artist.

Named a best book of the year by Esquire and Vulture and recognized as a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Fiction. It was adapted for screen in 2024 by writer and director by Marielle Heller, starring Amy Adams.

50: Tracy Breathnach - The Soul Path Dec 09, 2025

Dr Tracy Breathnach is an Irish author, speaker and somatic performance artist, based in the UK, exploring heart-centred living and loving. The main themes of her work are intimacy, authenticity and aliveness. She has worked extensively across arts, community and education settings, primarily in the UK for over 25 years, as well as now offering transformational coaching and mentoring to clients around the world.

In November 2025, she launched her first non-fiction book called In Other Words Love, Learning to intimately love our lives.The material is also offered as an e-course available online: Words for Love.

Tracy’s practice as research PhD (University of Aberystwyth, 2018) explored identity, narrative and trauma in autobiographical birth-storytelling. Following this she developed a project called ‘Birth Café’ with People Speak Up in west Wales to create a space for women to share their birth stories from their bodies.

Tracy is a highly experienced freelance consultant in Culture, Health and Wellbeing and most recently worked as the Programme Manager for Wales Arts, Health & Wellbeing Network. She has led on the award-winning Wales-wide artists’ wellbeing programme How Ya Doing? for WAHWN, as well as several arts programmes for staff wellbeing in health boards.

Essie Jain is an English singer and songwriter, who has been performing and recording music for over two decades. Her songs have traveled far and wide out into the world and gently weaved themselves into the fabric of people’s lives, daily healing practices and stories. She has almost 600K monthly listens on Spotify.

Essie often works alongside her husband, guitarist and long term collaborator Patrick Glynn, for both recordings and live performances. They live in Los Angeles with their daughter Opal.

Lisbeth Cheever-Gessaman is the artist and illustrator of "The Divine Feminine Oracle", The Spellcasting Oracle” and “The Sutras of Unspeakable Joy”. She is a visionary artist who merges magick and technology with traditional mediums to create new interpretations of myth and archetype. Through her work she explores shamanic, astrological and mythological constructs to interpret the liminal worlds of the Divine Feminine, incorporating art and talisman to create a third phenomenon, or magical reality. Her art was included in Witchcraft - Taschen and features in The Divine Feminine Oracle that she created along with Meggan Watterson, on the covers of The Mistress of Longing and Gina Martin’s Daughters of the Goddess series.

In honor of the Great Mother, and as personal witness, she creates all work under the pseudonym "SheWhoIsArt".
