3632 Master Your Attitude with Your Mind Mar 10, 2025
    Show notes

Making changes requires us to perform different actions and think in a new way. In doing so, you get closer to your goals. Otherwise, you will fight yourself for what isn't possible. Therefore, master your attitude with your mind.

Some of the hardest things you and I must do in life is fight our own battles in the head.

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

Self-talk is a real thing. And let me just say, it has nothing to do with how crazy you are. What you think about yourself, you will live out.

My good friend, Marianne Renner, has a brand new book coming out in May 2025 called "Self-Talk: 10 Stories You Tell Yourself that Hold You Back."

It's the real deal in life when we get in our own way. If we're up in our heads proclaiming that something is not going to work, you're not good enough, or some other hateful thought, if you keep repeating it, you keep believing it.

And how unfair to you and your dreams!

You matter. Your dreams matter. Your purpose matters.

But if you are not willing to do what it takes to make the change, you are going to stay right where you are.

So, today, I will assume that you want something different in life. And in order to live that out, you have to master your attitude with your mind.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Master your attitude with your mind!

Imagine a life where you can navigate challenges with grace, overcome obstacles with resilience, and approach each day with positivity. Now, it's not all about affirmations and declarations. This is not about foo-foo and woo-woo. This is the real deal to make a difference in your life so you can impact the world that you touch. And it all begins with mastering your attitude through the incredible power of your mind.

As we know, research has shown that our attitudes and beliefs can rewire our brains. When we choose to adopt a positive attitude, our brain releases neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, promoting feelings of happiness and well-being. This neurological process reinforces the importance of cultivating a positive mindset.

However, it doesn't stop there. You still have to do the work with the thoughts that are in your mind. They don't magically disappear. If only we could wave a magic wand. LOL πŸ˜‚

How you speak to yourself internally plays a crucial role in shaping your attitudes. By practicing positive self-talk and affirmations, you can reprogram your mind to focus on solutions rather than problems. As Louise Hay famously said, "You have the power to heal your life, and you need to remember this power lies within you."

    1. Embrace a Growth Mindset: Psychologist Carol Dweck's research on the growth mindset highlights the importance of viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. By embracing a growth mindset, we can shift our attitudes from fear of failure to embracing learning and development. Think of the type of mindset in the direction you want to go. You can stay "fixed" or you can transition to a "growth" mindset. Do you want to stay where you are or move forward?

    2. Practice Gratitude: Cultivating an attitude of gratitude has been linked to improved mental health and overall well-being. By expressing gratitude for the present moment and the blessings in your life, you can shift your focus from scarcity to abundance. Gratitude stretches your attitude, for it's genuinely a fortitude. Your presence matters. Stay in the moment and see the possibilities, not the problems. 3. Set Intentions: When you set clear intentions, it aligns your thoughts and actions toward your goals. Dream a little bigger and then put some extra thoughts behind the dream. Visiualize what can be done in the season you are in. As you give yourself permission to see what's possible, you can set your next steps into action with intention.

"One step at a time leads to miles of greatness." ~ Kristianne Wargo

You can shape your reality and experience a life filled with purpose and passion because of your presence. Create your now!

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

3631 God Is Our Refuge Mar 09, 2025
    Show notes

As your days become more than you can handle alone, remember that God's got you! It says in Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Have you ever been in trouble? Have you ever thought you might be close to the end?

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

We have all experienced that feeling of living life on our own. So many things piling up around us that we feel like we are coming to a breaking point. However, I want to remind you that you are not alone.

He is there for you ALL the time. Now, you might say that you disagree because you don't have the answers you want. Yet, God is still there even when you don't get what you want.

Sounds all too familiar when raising kids, right? We tell them no they can't do something or have something, and they whine, walk away mad, wishing they had a different parent.

We can kind of be like that with God. But I want to encourage you today:

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." ~ Psalm 46:1

The K.I.S.S. ~ God is your refuge!

By now, you've probably heard about my diagnosis of double pneumonia after the first of the new year. It was not good, mainly because I had no energy. And for a woman who is always on the go, that was a kick in the pants. I get tired or exhausted because of what I do, but not because of an illness.

So unfair. Yet that was just the beginning.

In February, we had a cold spell that took our temperatures down to 10 degrees with a wind chill at times below zero. If you're in the south, that is not the temperature you want. Plus, stuff happens when it freezes.

Well, you know all about the forced renovations inside. But I get a call while at a conference that we are having troubles with the pool. Bubbles are happening outside. I am a day from arriving home, and all I can do is watch a video and see what's going on. I call my pool man, and he says, "You've got a leak!"

Can I just say I have PTSD from water?!?

We had the crew come out and emergently winterize our pool to protect any of the working lines. There was no guarantee what was wrong, but something was WRONG!!

After arriving home, we had to keep the ice from getting too thick to keep the water lines open and free from a freeze. That required us to stick the ice on the top of the pool and keep it more in chunks rather than an ice skating rink.

One day, I was working on the ice and the pool, and a struck the ice with a brief pause.... And then all of sudden I had an eighth of a milli-second to decide whether or not I was going with the fall, or would fight the fall in mid-air.

YES!!! I fell into the pool with ice about 2 inches thick.

    God is our refuge!!

The short story is I'm alive to talk about it. The long story that early afternoon was I came close to not making it.

    God is our refuge!!

In the moments of the water and ice hitting my body, and me being pulled under the ice was a little anerving. In a brief moment, I knew I had to get out of the pool or my son would walk down the stairs and find his mom floating dead in the pool.

All I could do was constantly tell myself to get above the water, keep your head above the water. As I climbed the iceburgs of Alaska in the backyard of my Tennessee swimming pool, I prayed to God to get me out. With fingernails clawing the slabs of ice, my heavy sweater wrapped around my face strangling my neck as it caught the edges of the ice. The fight was real, but God was by refuge.

Somehow, I was able to pull myself over two huge slabs of ice that were about as tall as me (5 feet). Finally, I got to the shallow sunning ledge and caught my breath. Making sure I wasn't dizzy and going to pass out, I continued the climb.

The climb of life is real, and so is God!!

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." ~ Psalm 46:1

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

    3630 How to Love in a One-Sided Marriage Mar 08, 2025
    Show notes

In marriage, there are sweet moments of honeymoons, celebrations, and birthdays. As two become one over the years, many things shift, including who loves more or less. How to love in a one-sided marriage.

Let's be real. Neither of you loves the same way. Neither of you show up committed in the same way.

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

However, you both love each other uniquely, and at times, it can feel like you are doing everything.

Then the questions begin: Why can't he love me more? Why can't he see what he's doing wrong? Why do I have to do everything in this relationship?

These questions are just a sprinkle of all the doubt you thought of years ago before walking down the aisle, but now seems a little too close to reality.

Let me remind you that there are seasons in marriage. You will have the roller coasters that you conquer together, but then there will be those lines only for one person.

Why does it have to be this way?

Relationships ebb and flow. When you bring two people together who want to do life together, it takes work, like swimming upstream in a downstream world.

Unfair? Yes. Leads to divorce? Only if you allow it.

Marriage is work, and love takes action. You have to be willing to go above and beyond.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Go above and beyond!

And let me say this: Just because you put in all the work doesn't make you better than your spouse. Yes, it requires more effort and energy, but please don't discount what your spouse is doing. Usually, they are executing only what they know or have been shown.

I can definitely remember times in our marriage when I felt I was married only to myself. I'm not saying that was good, yet it was reality. If you can look at things with clarity, then you can deal with the season you are in better and get out on the other side closer.

So what does it look like in the real world of marriage?

    1. Know the Season so You Show Up with Reason.

Just as Fall moves into Winter, you can prep your plants, trees, and grass for the cold that moving in. It's part of the growth cycle. Marriage is the same way. There will be times when it's going to take all of you. And if you're willing, then it becomes easier actually to live out with that clarity of knowing your position in getting through the season. You won't be there long, just hold on.

    2. Give Grace in the Midst of Chaos

Nothing is every going to be perfect. So, if you are going to go above and beyond, you've got to give grace. There's no other way around it. Otherwise, you will be the one hurt the most because your emotions that harbor the feelings of "why can't he do more," will turn into resentment and bitterness in your heart. And that's a whole other mountain to climb. Give grace.

    3. Express What You Need at the Right Time.

Timing is everything! In the digital space, a phrase is thrown around: "Content is king." In marriage, timing is king. If you have concerns about money, it probably is not a good idea to talk about it right before bed. Do it when you both are well-rested. If you feel like you're holding down the fort with no help, that's a fair concern. But don't bring it up in a discussion involving who's picking up the kids when. It's not the right time! And just because we have technology at our fingertips does not mean you can say anything anytime. Remember, timing is everything.

"Marriage is work, and love takes action." ~ Kristianne Wargo

Don't let the excuses of your personal wants get in the way of creating the best relationship between two people. The one-sided marriage will not last forever. Be patient. Express your concerns. And be willing to go above and beyond. You can have a beautiful marriage and love deeper every day.

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

3629 Stretch Them So You Don't Shrink Them Mar 07, 2025
    Show notes

Raising kids can be the pits sometimes. You want to do everything for them, but they still don't get it. Why can't they do what we teach? Remember, as a parent, you are called to stretch them so you don't shrink them.

How has your week gone with the kids? Or maybe you're without them, but you are never not a parent.

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

Once a parent, always a parent.

So, how do you communicate with your children? Do you get mad because that's the only way to get their attention? Or do you speak in whispers to draw them in closer?

Parenting is super confusing. At one point, you think you have it all figured out. Yet, less than hours later, you are putting out a fire that you just told them not to do.

Motherhood is a sham! Just kidding--LOL! Seriously, though, it is a TON of work that does not come with a manual.

If there is one thing that I've learned from raising five kiddos is to stretch them so you don't shrink them.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Stretch them, not to shrink them!

The strength of children is found in the ceiling. First you want a firm foundation, but the ceiling is what determines how far they will go. This means that wherever you hold the expectation, they will either rise to it or shrink back because it's too easy.

My Dad always dreamed BIG!! Nothing was too BIG for my dad. And that's probably why I had dreams of going to the Olympics, becoming Miss America, and being an OB/GYN physician. Oh, how small were my dreams.

But let me tell you, I may not have achieved any of them for a variety of reasons (which really doesn't matter), the thought of going after them was well worth the dreams because of all the lessons learned had I not tried at all.

How are you teaching your children? Do you make it easy for them to achieve, or do you raise the bar for them to attempt and maybe even succeed?

If you want to be that parent who leads with love to serve them well, you want to stretch them, not to shrink them.

    1. Raise the Bar: Your child is created for more, regardless of whether you can see it or not. When you give a gentle stretch to keep them reaching, you assist them in learning new life skills and training their mindset that nothing is impossible.
    2. Lower Your Goals: Your children are not living your life. So don't make what they are doing all about you! Instead, open their eyes to see what's possible and help them dream bigger.
    3. Dream the Impossible: With today's technology, dreaming has become less prevalent in our society. Have you heard of ChatGPT? Well, if it's the only thing that's dreaming, our children are in trouble. So, rip what holds your child back. Encourage them to dream the impossible.

Our minds have not changed, but our attitudes have. Don't let the sun go down on your children. Stretch them to the moon and back and see how they impact the world they touch.

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

    3628 Break the Box Mar 06, 2025
    Show notes

When life gives you lemons, make scrumptious lemonade with mint. Who you are in your everyday matters. Stop pretending everything is okay. You can't live life in the confines of your limitations. Break the box!

So much of our days are filled with the habits that keep us stuck in our comfort zones. We cozy up to the yelling and screaming because we know how to handle it.

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

But what if you woke up and decided that yelling and screaming isn't going to happen? Would that change your day? Would that change how your heart feels?

    How would that impact you?

Unfortunately, we are focused more on others' needs and wants, and totally dismiss what we need. We coward in the corner because we know what feels like.

Who wants to be someone else's punching bag?

And this isn't just about yelling and screaming. I give you that example because it denotes something that most of us are familiar with.

But in our ideal world, who wants to live that way?

    I don't. And I don't think you do either.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Break the box!

Stand for what matters not for everyone else, but for you! You matter!! And if you don't see that, maybe you need to take a closer look at who you are seeing in the mirror.

    Mirror, mirror on the wall...

What is it for you? What do you want out of life? Stop playing the games where everyone else is still in high school. You get to choose who you hang out with. You get to choose how you respond to all that is going on around you.

If you are tired of where you are, then change your position. Positioning your heart and space is essential to living the life God desires for you.

Plus, if you keep doing the same thing, where is that going to get you? Right where you are now!

    Break the box!

Be the cream that rises to the top. Don't let what the world says to you, or past hurts, or present heartbreaks hold you back from doing what you were created to do.

This is your day to let your light shine. So rise up! And BREAK the BOX!!!

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

3627 You Are Too Busy For Your Health Mar 05, 2025
    Show notes

Why does life have to be so challenging? Why do we fight more than we love ourselves? So many questions with a simple answer: you are too busy for your health.

Over the past few months, I have been burning the candle at not just two ends but twenty ends. This mama and grandmama was always on the move.

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

I mean, who doesn't prioritize your family?

But in reality, if all you do is keep pushing yourself deeper and deeper down in the ground, there is little resolve for your comeback.

If you haven't heard, I was diagnosed with double pneumonia just at the start of the new year. Between handling things with the family and all that it brings with five children and 2 grandbabies, I didn't have time to slow down.

I knew I was overworking my body. I wasn't eating right. I was traveling more than I was sleeping. How could my mind and body function properly if I wasn't giving it what it needed?

Such nonsense-- But that is a lot of our realities. We have SO much going on that we don't really care for ourselves. We wait until the breakdown, and then we have no choice.

    The K.I.S.S. ~ Choose wisely!

You are the only one who can care for your mind and body. If you don't do it, no one else will. Now, yes, if you end up in the hospital, you may have doctors and nurses that care for you, but when you leave, it's all up to you.

How much are you worth to your family?

Now, consider how much you are worth to your purpose here on earth.

Most of the time, we are quick to dismiss the value and worth that we add to our family and the world that we touch. You are created on purpose for a purpose. It's no accident that you are here. But you can't do what you were created to do if you don't take care of you.

    It's a pretty simple concept.

However, we have a hard time remembering that.

So, where are you in your healthy goals?

Some of the best gifts to give or receive come from the heart. But so does living your daily life with intentionality and authenticity. Share a bit of your true self. Risk your heart.

As much as you think you are showing up ready to live your life well, a lot of times, you are hiding.

    3625 When You Don't Have A Choice Mar 03, 2025
    Show notes

Life can throw you unexpected curveballs that you don't know what to do. How unfair is it to live life only to be drowning in what you can't control? What to do when you don't have a choice.

Or is that really the case?

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

All I can say is that I have missed you very much! Life has had me in the swirls and twirls of everything.

And as much as I would like to say I didn't have control, I didn't! However, I did have control over how I responded.

I think that's something that we tend to forget when we are going about our every day. We just show up and keep doing what we think we know, hitting the brick walls and bouncing off of them.

But when you experience enough knockouts, you figure a way to rise up.

Because no matter what you think, you still get to choose!

The K.I.S.S. ~ You still get to choose!

And really, it all comes from my craziness these past few months. I have been burning the candle at not two ends but twenty ends. Yep! Chop me up and light the torch; I'm melting.

It has been pretty much my life since probably about mid-year 2024. I was doing pretty well keeping everything melted and being able to have it settle down from time to time. But then right after the holidays, it all stopped.

You know when your body says enough is enough, you have no choice but to listen. And that's what I did. I chose how I needed to respond to the chaos.

What about you? Are you burning the candle at 10 ends, not just two?

You don't have to live that way. In fact, I would tell you to stop and smell the roses before something drastic happens.

There's nothing better than your mind and body telling you exactly what you need to do. Sometimes, it's by force, and other times it's a choice.

    What do you choose today?

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

3624 You Can Rebound After A Reset Jan 20, 2025
    Show notes

Life is not fair. Just when you think you can enjoy the lemonade you made, you find yourself wrestling with lemons. There is no reason to fall into the trap of oh woes me. You can rebound after a reset.

How has 2025 started for you? Has it been everything you wanted it to be?

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

Well, if you are a regular, or maybe you've been listening for a few episodes, after Christmas, I took a brief holiday. We had planned a surprise visit for my mom in Kansas City, along with my sister and niece who flew in from Hawaii. No one knew what was happening except my brother and my family.

We couldn't wait, and just as I tell you every day, presence matters. So I decided that break of about a week would be good. Oh-- we also got to celebrate my Aunt and Uncle's 50th Wedding Anniversary. That was a surprise for them, too.

Between traveling for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then, making a long trip to KC, all the craziness got the best of me.

Right after the anniversary celebration, I go so sick. I laid in the hotel room and couldn't even visit with my family. Once we returned home, I still wasn't feeling myself. Tired all the time with no energy. And as you know, that is very unusual for me.

Finally, I decided to go to urgent care because I wasn't getting any better. When they listened to my lungs, the PA said, you most likely have pneumonia. Long story short, after the chest x-ray, I was diagnosed with double pneumonia. She was right, and I was exhausted.

I'm not one who gets sick very often; literally once in a blue moon. But this one was different. It was sort of a reset. Time I needed that I didn't make time for.

Have you ever run into that. Your body just gives out because you've given so much?

Our life cannot be filled to the brim all the time, because eventually you break.

My dear friend, mentor, and coach - You name it, his presence was known-- Dan Miller. In fact, he went home exactly a year ago tomorrow. But he would say always, you can't lead from an empty cup. Your cup has to be full. He believed in investing in yourself, making sure your cup was filled so you in turn could fill others.

    What about you?

Are you enjoying that lemonade or more like wrestling with the lemons?

You can rebound after a reset; you just have to want to.

The K.I.S.S. ~ You have to want it!

A reset doesn't just happen. It comes from a commitment within; consider it your internal dialogue with God, your divine rod.

I had to make time to let my body heal. A lot of you reached out and asked where I was and if everything was okay. I so appreciate you, my extended family!

Yet, you can bounce back to the rebound from the reset. But you have to want it.

And that's my question to you today. How bad do you want what is missing? Maybe it's something you left behind. Maybe it's something within your career. Maybe it's something brand new.

Whatever it is, you have to want it. It's not just going to come back from where you left off. In fact, it might morph into something different or even more special and unique.

The cool thing is that you get to decide. You get to show up. You get to accept the playbook the way you want to write it.

So let me ask you again, how bad do you want it?

It's time to rebound after a reset! God's got you. Don't be afraid.

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

3623 A Reflection of What Is and What's to Come Dec 26, 2024
    Show notes

As the final week of the year dawns upon us, it serves as a poignant reminder to pause and reflect on the journey we have experienced. Rest and recharge for a reflection of what is and what's to come.

Just as the old year fades into the horizon, the new year beckons, brimming with endless possibilities and promises. It is a time to recharge our souls, reconnect with who we are and who we are becoming, and renew our commitment to the path that lies ahead.

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is easy to lose sight of the divine plans that God has intricately woven for each of us.

The Book of Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, " plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

We don't know what's around the corner, but we do know that God's in control, especially when we feel out of control. Whatever you face today and through all your tomorrows, God's got you!!!

The K.I.S.S. ~ Reflect on what is and what's to come!

Amidst the holiday cheer and celebratory fervor, let us take this moment to seek solace in the quietude of our hearts. In these fleeting days of the year, carve out time for prayer, meditation, and reflection. Allow God's guiding light to illuminate your path and lead you toward fulfilling His divine purpose for your life.

In other words, don't be so stubborn. Look toward the days ahead with hope and anticipation, a determination that can come only from God.

As we bid adieu to the old year and herald the arrival of a new dawn, let us do so with hope in our hearts and faith in the unseen. Let us envision a future filled with promise, opportunities, and moments of grace. Remember that in God's perfect timing, all things come to fruition, and His plans for us are greater than we can ever imagine.

So, as I, too, take a few days to usher in the New Year and reflect on what is and what's to come, let me leave you with this sweet poem.

    REFLECT by Kristianne Wargo

In the stillness of this sacred space,

We pause to embrace God's divine grace.

With hearts open and spirits light,

We welcome the promise of a future bright.

As the old year gracefully takes its leave,

We stand on the threshold of new dreams to weave.

May hope be our guiding star,

Leading us to destinations near and far.

In this moment of quiet reflection,

We find strength in divine connection.

Renewed, revitalized, and ready to soar,

We step into the New Year, now and evermore.

Wishing you a joyous and blessed New Year filled with peace, prosperity, and purpose.

And remember, I will be back in the New Year to embrace all that is and is to come.

Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! (Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in Hawaiian)

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"
