    Should a Christian Ever Get Re-Baptized? Dec 05, 2018
    Show notes

Episode 68 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. When Jesus says that believers should "turn the other cheek" when someone strikes them, is this applicable in every scenario? I'm a police officer, so depending on what call I receive sometimes it's my job not to turn the other cheek. How should I and other believers view texts like these?

    2. If someone has come back to the faith and rededicated their life to the Lord, and even though they have already been baptized, should they get re-baptized?

    3. Why do you think it's so difficult for churches, especially in America, to talk about ethnic diversity in the church?

    4. In church, we sing a song with the line, "So let the accuser roar of sins that I have done, I know them all and thousands more, my Father knoweth none." Is this accurate to say? Even if we are justified does God ignore our sins?

    5. In Hebrews 8:13 it says, "In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away." Is there a difference between making the old covenant "obsolete" and fulfilling the law? How does Jesus do this?

How to Celebrate the Lord's Supper Dec 04, 2018

Episode 67 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. How can people who seem to accept the gospel later leave the faith? Does this mean the Holy Spirit failed to save them?

    2. Jesus was baptized with the Holy Spirit prior to starting His public ministry. Why did that need to happen since he was the Son of God already? He was already fully God and fully man. Was there another reason for this public demonstration?

    3. Is the Book of Genesis historically true? Is it possible for Christians to interpret Genesis as a myth or fable of what a faithful life devoted to God looks like?

    4. Should we celebrate the Lord's supper with joy and thanksgiving or should it be a solemn and reverent event?

    5. What are some of your favorite books about how to read the Bible in a Christ-centered way? I have some friends who are new to this way of thinking and would love to do a book study and then a Bible study to see if they can get a grasp on it. Do you have any advice?

    6. How do you know if a person is called to be a missionary?

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Why did the Pharisees plan to kill Jesus in John 11 after he had performed such miraculous signs?

    2. I have a question about 1 Corinthians 15:50. There it says, "I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable." It sounds like the Bible is teaching that to inherit the kingdom of God we have to not be "flesh and blood." Is this why we have to die so that our souls can enter heaven?

    3. How should a Christian who struggles with anxiety overcome it?

    4. What is the gospel? And what difference does this make in life?

    5. In the Gospel's Jesus often took time to be alone to pray. Do you think that is important for us today? And if so, what do you think is a good way to do this?

    6. If we are not saved by works, how do works fit into the Christian life?

    4. I don't understand the story of Judah and Tamar in Genesis. How should I understand it?

    2. If Christians are expected to still keep the 10 Commandments, doesn't that mean we should keep a Saturday Sabbath as well?

    3. In John 15:7, Jesus says "ask and it will be given to you." How does this verse coincide with all of the unanswered prayers we have?

    4. I am wondering about the process of someone officially becoming a Christian. I understand we are to believe and have faith in Jesus, but when we see someone come to faith, how are we to know they're converted or born-again?

    5. Is there a reason why in the Bible Paul seems to talk about salvation by faith much more often than any of the other New Testament authors, or even Jesus in the gospels?

    6. Despite many of the problems and disagreements within the church, what gives you hope about the church? What makes it something we should still be excited about inviting others into?

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. In Matthew 10:38 Jesus says, "whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me." Does this mean that we have to be worthy to receive salvation?

    2. There seems to be a lot of different interpretations of the book of Revelation especially once you consider it in light of current events. How should we be thinking about Revelation in light of current events and should we change our interpretation to fit the times?

How Christians Should Discern the Signs of the Times Nov 23, 2018
    Show notes

Episode 60 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 says that the day of the Lord, that is, the day when Jesus returns to judge the nations and gather his people will come like a thief in the night. Yet, people are always reading the signs of the times, as Jesus said we should, and coming to conclusions that Jesus should return soon. How should we balance reading the signs of the times and knowing that Jesus will come when we least expect it?

    2. In Luke 4 Jesus says that he came to liberate the captives and preach good news to the poor and perform miracles. This sounds like a passage about salvation but I'm not sure what miracles and liberation have to do with salvation.

    3. Can you explain 1 Thessalonians 4:13 where it says, "we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope"? What is the difference between grieving with hope and grieving without hope?

    4. What do you think about prayer journals? Do they help? What do you use to keep up with morning devotions? What would you recommend?

    5. Romans 3 teaches that no one seeks God and that no one is righteous, but don't people seek out God all the time and don't unbelievers do all sorts of good things like love their children and not murder all the time?

    6. Mark 14 says that in the garden of Gethsemane, on the night Jesus would be captured by the Romans, Jesus' soul was sorrowful even to the point of death. Why would Jesus feel this way if he was God and knew that he would suffer and die?
