Calibrating Your Worth featuring Aiden Strawhun, Matthew Finneman, & Nathan Brandt Sep 24, 2019

This week on the Constantly Calibrating Podcast we threw planning out the window as we last minute needed to compile a podcast. The pitched topic: "Let's get drunk and discuss Gears 5!" Was this accomplished? Honestly even as the editor of this podcast I can't be sure.

What we do know is that our dynamic quintuple threat of hosts Josh Silverman & Justin Stanley, alongside guests Aiden Strawhun, Matthew Finneman, and Nathan Brandt got introspective and explored more topics than ever explored on a single episode of our show. 3/5 of the people on the show also got VERY intoxicated, but in the best of ways.

Come watch and join the adventure of a lifetime!

Calibrating PAX West 2019 ft. Chloe Naylor, Ben Bellevue, & Kate Sanchez Sep 17, 2019

Wrapping up our PAX West 2019 coverage this week, Josh and Justin chatted with a bevy of new guests on the Constantly Calibrating Podcast! Our duo chatted with Kinda Funny Up and Comer Chloe Naylor (EchoChlo), screenwriter Ben Bellevue, and Editor in Chief of But Why Tho? Kate Sanchez!

The topics this week focused all around our experiences at PAX West, and featured an all-time record of technical issues for Constantly Calibrating. Seriously, we probably should've spent time editing in a counter on this one, cause phew!

Still it was a great show and one we hope you enjoy!

Calibrating D23, Marvel News, & Star Wars Theories with TwoHeadedGiant Aug 30, 2019

Look, we're not even at episode 300 yet, and we're only on episode like 5 or 6 of our return from hiatus, but this may be the best show Constantly Calibrating has ever done. Top 20 at least.

We were joined this week by Nathan Brandt (aka TwoHeadedGiant) to talk about his brand new podcast, The New Entertainment System Podcast (https://linktr.ee/nespod) and to talk D23 news. What we ended up doing is introducing a new segment devoted to wholesome content, explore World of Warcraft Classic, and come up with some crazy theories for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and just well beyond that.

If you've never listened to Constantly Calibrating, this is the one to listen to or watch, or whatever means of ingestion you prefer.

Calibrating Ninja on Mixer, the ESA, & More with Hunter Bond Aug 09, 2019

It's a busy week for news, which means it's a good thing we brought our old friend Hunter Bond on the show for his debut appearance. Hunter is here to chat about Ninja making a move from Twitch to Mixer and the implication that has for the streaming world as a whole. He's also here to talk about the ESA and their colossal mistake in leaking thousands of journalist's information.

Oh, and he also helped us come up with a way more interesting to watch: combine it with the drama of wrestling/sports entertainment!

On this episode Josh chats with John Phipps, Founder of Super Deformed Gamescast, Kinda Funny Games Daily Guest Co-Host, and Master of the Twitter Dunk. In his first Constantly Calibrating Podcast appearance, John Phipps talks to Josh about the state of the games industry, being politically cognizant on Twitter, and takes a look at how 2018 gave both of them such great opportunities.

Calibrating 2018 End of the Year Awards Semi-Spectacular ft Bytes N' Brews Dec 28, 2018

The time has come at last! As the 42nd month of 2018 draws to a close, join our crew as we bring you our 7th Annual End of the Year Gaming Awards Semi-Spectacular! This year Josh is joined by our Social Media Coordinator, Jordan "Cutwright" Woodruff. Alongside him are our special guests, Tony Pisano and Rob Zoeller of Bytes N' Brews. This is one festive two and a half hour experience you do not want to miss. Seriously, you do not want to miss this one.

Our awards range across "Film of the Year", "Gaming Experience of the Year", "Gaming Industry Blunder of the Year", "Game of the Year", and more. On top of that, at one point or another every single person gets deeply upset with or even offended by one of Josh's opinions. So, when you get right down to it, isn't that the true meaning of the holiday season?

Let's wrap up this cluster of a year together, as it was intended.

Calibrating Cissy Jones Dec 21, 2018

After over a year of planning and attempts, Josh finally got to talk to Cissy Jones on the Constantly Calibrating Podcast. Cissy Jones (Fury in Darksiders III, Delilah in Firewatch, & much more) talked to Josh about her journey into voice acting. There's some tips & tricks for aspiring voice actors, as well as a look at the process of being a woman in the voice acting world. Cissy and Josh go through a surprising amount of topics in this shorter show, and you should not miss it!

Calibrating FCFL with Patrick Dees Dec 21, 2018

Time for double-up Constantly Calibrating Podcast day, as there are two brand new episodes releasing today. (Never you mind the lack of an episode last week.)

This week on the podcast Josh & Blake welcomed their old friend Patrick Dees onto the show. Patrick, the Co-Founder and Chief Gaming Officer of the Fan Controlled Football League (FCFL) was here to take our hosts, and you, through the history and future of the FCFL. Speaking personally, we're incredibly excited to see what this new framework for sports can bring to the field moving forward.

Post sports-talk, our trio looked into end of the year gaming discussions, and may have gone a bit Red Dead Redemption II-crazy.

Even if you're not a sports-minded person -- Josh certainly isn't -- you should give this show a listen. The exploration of how to make football, and other sports, more appealing and the gamifcation of the space is an absolutely fascinating topic; one you should not miss!

Calibrating Bryden Keks II Dec 07, 2018

After two years, Bryden Keks has returned to the Constantly Calibrating Podcast. Joining Josh this week, the topics range from working the holiday season in PR to desired game length as we get older. The topics are both broad and narrow on this over an hour-long podcast experience, so make sure you're paying attention. Also, Bryden Keks may be the only person able to ramble as well as Josh, which is not something that is said lightly around here.

Calibrating Exato Game Studios' Elo Hell with HologramDream Nov 30, 2018

Time for another trip around the podcast land. This week Josh had the pleasure of chatting with Angelina (HologramDream) of Exato Games Studios about their upcoming narrative comedy game, Elo Hell. Elo Hell comes out of the world of esports & plans to let players experience a true coming of age story in this industry. Each episode is set for short, truly episodic experiences, where players will actually play, versus watching a series of cutscenes. With this week's guest the topics ranged from design philosophies of Exato Games, to plans for Elo Hell & its internal game, Echo Star, to the assorted random locales we almost always take you on.

Here we have the last of our PAX West 2018 interviews. For our final foray onto the PAX floor we have Josh's chat with Eve Crevoshay, Executive Director of 'Take this'. To learn more about what Take this does for event attendees or to learn what resources are available, check out this episode. If you're looking to see what bad lighting can do to Josh's already shiny head, you'll want to swing by the YouTube video.

Calibrating Jared Petty Oct 19, 2018

At the start of October Josh & Justin embarked on the wonderful opportunity of visiting San Francisco. The reason for the trip: a chance to co-host Kinda Funny Games Daily with Greg Miller. During that trip another opportunity arose: our wonderful duo was invited into the home of Jared Petty to record an episode of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast!

The chat with Jared was delightful, ranging from discussions on visiting San Francisco, co-hosting Kinda Funny Games Daily, and into chats about our favorite words and a look at the effect of mental illness on our society. This podcast goes deep and pretty much all around, and it's an absolute delight. Oh, and Jared's wife makes a very brief appearance, so what's not to like?

Oh, and for those watching the video...sorry. The quality of conversation was so high this week that all of our cameras started acting up in the weirdest ways possible. It's part of the fun!

Watch the show recorded live on Mixer.

Calibrating Escape the Fest w/ Chris Michelotti Oct 13, 2018

Before the start of PAX West Josh has the opportunity to sit down with Chris Michelotti, creator of the upcoming tabletop game, Escape the Fest. Escape the Fest is a card-based game meant to simulate the music festival experience. The original plan for our interview was for Josh and Chris Michelotti to do a play session, but like all good Constantly Calibrating plans, things went awry.

Join us for this exploration the upcoming tabletop game, and what goes into making a game such as this.

Calibrating Sean Baptiste Oct 05, 2018

At PAX West 2018 Josh & Justin sat down with Sean Baptiste, Influencer Manager for Bethesda. The conversation took many different turns, but was one that you definitely do not want to miss.

Simply put, if you are a content creator, streamer, or broadcaster online, there is one person you should know: Sean Baptiste. Sean has been a part of the game industry for many years, coming up through Harmonix, Adult Swim Games, and now Bethesda.

What Sean does better than most is engage with people online in a way that both nurtures and educates them. From atop his platform on Twitter, Sean will regularly question his followers on many things related to streaming & content creation. From there he curates the best advice and launches discussions on them.

Without a doubt, whether you're an amateur, aspiring professional, or even at the top of your game, you'd be mistaken to overlook his presence.

Calibrating PAX West 2018 with Raidhyn Sep 28, 2018

PAX West 2018 came to a close at the beginning of this month. Right after the closing of the event, Josh & Justin sat down with Dan Nichols (Raidhyn) of Adult Swim Games to talk about the games played & experiences lived at PAX West 2018.

From enjoyable and odd games -- looking at you Quiet Man -- to the debut of the GLORIOUS ONE, Justin Glorious, there was much to discuss!

So sit back and listen to the tales from one of Constantly Calibrating's favorite events of 2018!

Calibrating Live Podcasts with LoZelda Sep 21, 2018

Back at Dreamhack Austin Josh, Blake, Chris, & Jenn (LoZelda) took to the stage to talk about the process of running a live podcast. This of course was a live podcast, on doing a live podcast, done live. That may have been one to many uses of the word live, but we wanted to clarify the meta nature of things.

The panel itself was an exercise on just how much of a cluster running a podcast can be, and then how insane adding an audience can make it.

    Calibrating PrettyRob Sep 14, 2018

Back in the days of yore (June 2018) our team of intrepid podcasters talked to a man of mystery; the retired Dab-Master General™️. That's right, we had Arizona streamer PrettyRob on the show to talk about his experiences with both Twitch and Mixer, and his journey into the wide world of broadcasting.

While some things have changed in the months since he was on the show, one thing hasn't. He's still streaming, he's still Rob, and he is certainly still very pretty.

Learn the tale of PrettyRob on this edition of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast!

Calibrating Josiah Renaudin Aug 31, 2018

Once upon a time Josh happened across a podcast that helped refocus his thoughts on podcasting. That show, The 1099 Podcast, featured friend of Constantly Calibrating Vanessa Marie of Gaming Access Weekly talking to Josiah Renaudin. At that moment Josh realized he needed to have both Vanessa and Josiah on podcasts at some point. Vanessa made her guest debut earlier this year, and finally as the summer closes out we were able to chat with Josiah Renaudin.

Josiah is an Associate Producer over at Tangent Games, as well as a former freelance journalist. Over the last few years he has taken The 1099 Podcast from semi-educational tool on breaking into games media and turned it into one of the best one on one guest shows there is online.

On this week's Constantly Calibrating Podcast Josh talked to Josiah Renaudin about everything he does, and took a look at both of their journeys through the world of podcasting and games media.

Calibrating RTX 2018 (Featuring Raidhyn, SnowBikeMike, & LoZelda) Aug 17, 2018

Here we have the final piece of our RTX Austin 2018 coverage. Finally, for the first time ever, Constantly Calibrating gathered around a table for an in-person recorded a podcast. It was rushed, there were tech issues, but it was glorious!

Come join us and our special guests Dan Nichols (Raidhyn), SnowBikeMike, & Jenn VanGemert (LoZelda) as we talk about our experiences at RTX Austin 2018. Topics ranged from getting the show together, to sights seen, to the greatest explanation of an event of all time.

Thank you everyone for listening and watching this year's coverage. We look forward to doing more content like this moving forward!

Calibrating Troy Baker Aug 16, 2018

At RTX 2018 an opportunity was presented to us: Ten minutes with Troy Baker, voice actor, non-generic sock enthusiast, and wonderful person. Originally Josh had the idea to simply repeat "Troy Baker" with different inflections for ten straight minutes. Blake countered with the idea of conducting an actual interview.

They reached a compromise, and that compromise is what we present to you here.

Calibrating Ray Narvaez Jr VII Aug 15, 2018

Another RTX Austin; another chat with one of our favorite people: Ray Narvaez Jr. Every year Josh tries to find an interesting topic to discuss with Ray.

2015 was all about his leaving Achievement Hunter.

2016 was about how the first year on his own worked out.

2017 was about Twitch Partners being angry at Affiliates, and finances as a streamer.

2018 is the year the discussion shifted to Twitch versus Mixer, and how everyone should just get along.

Join us for a chat, some insight, and a look at another year with Ray Narvaez Jr.

Calibrating Kinda Funny Aug 14, 2018

For years Justin and Greg Miller have had their annual chat at RTX Austin, but no more! Now Josh has joined in on the fray, with Greg Miller bringing in Tim Gettys and Andy Cortex to even out this battle of wits!

Well, that and it made for a fun planned chat at RTX Austin 2018. From a year in review, to Kinda Funny Prom, to the future, and Andy's favorite Gundam, the combined team covered much during their extended chat.

Also, technically Constantly Calibrating has now had three members of Kinda Funny on the podcast, so take that!

    Calibrating Drawfee Aug 14, 2018

Mixing improv comedy and art, Drawfee explores different aspects of people humor and psyche. There's also crazy, funny art and shenanigans.

At RTX Austin 2018, Josh had the opportunity to chat with Julia Lepetit, Jacobs Andrews, and Nathan Yaffe about the birth & future of Drawfee. There was also an exploration of Josh's inability to properly say certain words.

Calibrating Dealing With PR as a Content Creator - Live from Dreamhack Austin 2018 Aug 10, 2018

Live from Dreamhack Austin 2018, it's a Constantly Calibrating Podcast. On this edition of the podcast, Josh, Blake, and Chris are joined by special guest Vanessa Marie. The topic: how to deal with PR as a Content Creator.

When joining the game's media, whether as press, a streamer, YouTuber, or something else, we all reach the point where we need to start interacting with Public Relations people. The question is, how do you best interact with them? How do you make a situation that is beneficial both to yourself and the person you're working with?

These are the questions we asked during our live podcast panel at Dreamhack Austin. They're also among the questions asked by our audience.

So, join the crew as we ponder this topic, and in true Constantly Calibrating fashion get lost along the way.

Calibrating Kyle Gaddo Aug 03, 2018

On the Internet there are many types of people: the Positive, the Negative, the Trolls, the Helpers, and more. Then, there's the Kyle Gaddo. The Kyle Gaddo is an awesomeness level above the rest, and cute to boot! At E3 Josh had the chance to meet Kyle Gaddo and work with him on a photoshoot, and that led to a friendship and then a podcast appearance.

On this week's episode Josh & Blake talked to Kyle about being a positive influence on the Internet, toxic masculinity, being cute, and more! There may also have been talk of Josh's never released boudoir photoshoot.

Tune into this one and give it a listen. There's a 42% chance you won't regret it.

Calibrating Brandon Stennis Jul 27, 2018

For one of our return podcasts we talked to Brandon Stennis (iamBrandonTV), a guest Josh has wanted on the show for a long time. During this episode Josh & Blake talked to Brandon about being fashionable as a gamer, maintaining positivity online, and the ins and outs of building a streaming career and beyond.

From lively chats to exploring this shifting industry, this conversation delved into many important and amazing topics.

Calibrating Mixer Partnership Changes with Sithos Jul 25, 2018

This week was the launch of the new Mixer Partnership requirements. With that launch Josh & Ryan sat down with Mixer Partner Sithos to talk about what these changes mean for current Partners, future Partners, and the platform as a whole.

Additionally the trio talked about how Partnership isn't for everyone, going into details on the different paths streamers can take in this industry.

Times are changing. Listen as our team has the "final" podcast for Constantly Calibrating, and talks about the future.

On today's Constantly Calibrating Podcast the team talks to Ashnichrist about what it's like to be a Stream Coach. Ashnichrist tells us her story of being a Twitch hopeful, to rejection, to moving onto a new career path. She also goes over what content creators need to understand to make it in this newer frontier.

Calibrating Mixtopher & Making Moves in Streaming Apr 20, 2018

Our journey to Mixer series of podcasts is reaching its end, as we now talk to another Arizona-local Mixer Partner, Mixtopher. Mixtopher comes to us to discuss the future of streaming, the culture of streaming, controversies, and what it takes to marathon a gaming series.

    Calibrating Michael Clayton & Stand-Up Comedy Apr 06, 2018

For a long time members of the Constantly Calibrating team have pitched the idea of having comedian Michael Clayton on the show. Well, finally at the start of April of 2018 we have Michael Clayton on the show.

Michael joins us this week to discuss his roots in stand-up comedy, his thoughts on the comedy scene, and even the nature of what is funny.

Calibrating Jason Hitchcock & Bebo Mar 30, 2018

When it comes to streaming there traditionally have been two options for streaming software: Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) & XSplit. Others have come along, but none that have gained the same following or traction. That is until Bebo.

This week our team talked to Jason Hitchcock, co-founder of Bebo, about the streaming software, its history, and the future of streaming content.

    Calibrating Bytes N' Brews Mar 23, 2018

Our guests this week, Tony & Rob of Bytes N' Brews, pair beers with games in an effort to create unique let's play experiences. What happens with we pair Bytes N' Brews with Constantly Calibrating? Well, we most certainly don't end up forgetting to ask our guests questions for 45 minutes; how could you possibly think that would happen?

    This week's topics include:

    • What are we drinking?
    • The makings of a good beer?
    • Is craft beer just for snobs?
    • What is Bytes N' Brews?
    • Making a good Let's Play.
    • What's up with YouTube?

Calibrating Alix Wilton Regan Mar 16, 2018

Six years ago, at the dawn of Constantly Calibrating, Co-Founders Josh & Steven put together a list of "maybe someday guests". On that list there was an array of people from all walks of life, but in at least one case there was a character name, not a person: "Samantha Traynor". The beloved Comm Specialist, unbeknownst to Josh & Steven at the time, was voiced by Alix Wilton Regan. The list was set, and someday the duo would get her on a show.

It's now 'someday', as we welcomed Alix Wilton Regan to the Constantly Calibrating Podcast!

Alix is an exceptional actress of stage, screen, and voice, having appeared in many roles; of particular note being her many appearances in the games of BioWare. She's also an intense force of positivity in the world, which is something we love on the podcast.

This week's extra episode of ConCalPod includes:

    • Voice Acting
    • The World of the Theater
    • Audition Horror & Not-So-Horror Stories
    • The Growing World of Videogame Voiceovers
    • Alix Wilton Regan's Superhero Destiny (#Alix4Canary)
    • The Gender Inequality in the Entertainment & Gaming Industries

Calibrating Ranking the Marvel Cinematic Universe Mar 09, 2018

After 18 (currently released) films, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a colossal juggernaut, to say the least. As such, Constantly Calibrating has decided to take it upon ourselves to rank the Marvel Cinematic Universe according to our own whims. Come and listen as Brad, Josh, Justin, Blake, and newest hire Kaleb put their own little lists together. Also, a lot of yelling; like, so much yelling and disagreement.

    Topics include:

    • Brad's Arby's vendetta.
    • Our Marvel Cinematic Universe Rankings.
    • Blake and Kaleb throw down.
    • Hopes for Infinity War.
    • Finally fixing our audio issues from last few weeks.

Calibrating Games PR & Media with Vanessa Marie Mar 02, 2018

And now for something we think you're going to enjoy: On this week's Constantly Calibrating Podcast the full team returns, and they brought a friend & guest. That's right, after years of thinking about it, Josh finally brought Vanessa Marie, CEO & Founder of Gamer Assault Weekly on the podcast.

Vanessa has been around the gaming industry for many years, starting as a Frag Doll (after leaving a fashion blogging career) and then moving onto gaming journalism and now PR. Yes, Josh gets to talk to another Public Relations person in the industry, this time from Novy Unlimited.

Seriously, this is a banner episode for the show and one you should not miss!

Aside for all of that the guys talk car issues and things get incredibly awkward. It's a good time for one and all!

    Topics this week included:

    • Josh's Dream Car
    • From Fashion Blogging to Games Journalism to Games PR
    • What is a Brand Ambassador?
    • Why are we friends?
    • The E3 First Timer Tip List

Calibrating Dreadnought with Kyle Stephenson Feb 23, 2018

Let's get a note out of the way first: Yes, there are some minor audio issues with Josh's track this week. We've figured out what caused the issue, but sadly can't fix it for this week. As noted at the top of the show, this is the Constantly Calibrating Podcast where [stuff] goes awry.

That being said, this week Josh & Justin sat down for a lengthy chat with Kyle Stephenson, Streamer Relations Specialist for Dreadnought.

    Topics this week included:

    • What is Dreadnought?
      • What type of player does Dreadnought appeal to?
    • What is the Dreadnought Partnership Program?
    • How can a content creator join a partnership program?
    • Best content creator etiquette.
    • Why is Josh awful?
    • What is Penguin Rage & can it be harnessed?
    • No seriously, why is Josh awful; how hard is it to unbox something?
    • Rants, rambling, and insanity.

Give the episode a listen and then join us for further discussions than even those that are listed above.

Calibrating Moving to Mixer with Sithos Feb 09, 2018

We're back! That's right, the Constantly Calibrating Podcast is back on the airwaves after a six week hiatus. On this, our Mixer debut episode we talked with Mixer Partner Sithos. Topics included, but were not limited to:

Calibrating Going on Hiatus Dec 23, 2017

This is it, the last Constantly Calibrating Podcast of 2017. On this special episode Josh, Justin, & Ryan are joined by Chris Hernandez to look at their year in review. From there they look to the future to figure out what their most anticipated entertainment in 2018 is likely to be.

Josh is also informed that Nick Scarpino made fun of him (justifiably) at RTX Austin 2017 and he is subsequently broken emotionally.

Calibrating 2017 Awards Show Spectacular Dec 16, 2017

2017 is coming to an end, which means it's time for the Constantly Calibrating Awards Show Spectacular. This episode features our Game of the Year, Film of the Year, Gaming Experience of the Year, and Gaming Blunder of the Year. Join hosts Brad, Josh, & Justin alongside Constantly Calibrating Featured Personality Superblake as they pick their best experiences of 2017.

Also listen as Brad and Blake fight extensively about Nintendo's place on many of our lists.

    Ramble Jam #0 Dec 09, 2017

And now for something we think you'll really enjoy.

Recently Brad, Justin, & Ryan all had to call out on a podcast appearance. Left with no option except to cancel another Constantly Calibrating Podcast, Josh reached out to Mr. Casting for Two himself, Chris Hernandez. Josh and Chris had been chatting for the previous few weeks about launching a duo podcast, so why not run a tester and see what happens.

What ended up happening was magic, the kind you find in a jar. Perhaps a jar of jam. Maybe even...a Ramble Jam!

    Calibrating Black Friday 2017 Dec 02, 2017

Brad is away at Disneyland, which means it's time for Josh, Justin, & Ryan to explore the wide world of Black Friday 2017. The trio talks what they bought, wish they bought, and regret buying, while also digging into Thanksgiving memories.

Oh, and did we mention that there was some planning for our award show, happening later in December? Yeah, that happened too, alongside Ryan hosting his very first podcast.

    Calibrating Blizzcon 2017 Nov 25, 2017

It's the most wonderful time of the year...to be a Blizzard fan. That's right, Blizzcon 2017 has come and gone and our team is talking all about the big reveals:

    • Battle for Azeroth
    • Classic World of Warcraft is happening
    • New stuff for Overwatch
    • Starcraft II is free to play
    • Much, much more!

Oh, and some of the controversy around Battlefront 2 & maybe some quick thoughts on Thor Ragnarok and/or Justice League.

Calibrating Dean Razavi Nov 17, 2017

Brad and Josh had the time of their life chatting with Dean Razavi, creator of Vidar & the upcoming From Rust TCG. Our duo and guest explored what led to the creation of Vidar, the game development scene in New York City, building a community, and the world of modern indie game development.

Calibrating Paris Games Week Nov 03, 2017

Due to an exhausted Josh after a few weeks of family deaths & a sick Ryan, Brad & Justin are reduced to a duo cast this week. Join them as they explore the recent news out of Paris Games Week & hype up our upcoming Extra Life event alongside Stream Arizona.

    Calibrating TwitchCon 2017 Oct 28, 2017

Josh had a lovely time at TwitchCon 2017, in that he finally got to enjoy a convention for himself, while still working. The rest of the team is here to talk about games as a service, continuing last week's conversation about loot boxes.

Things are heating up, so stick around.

Calibrating Middle Earth: Shadow of Loot Boxes Oct 20, 2017

Let's keep this week's description simple, as our writer, Josh, hasn't slept in a few days & just got to TwitchCon. This week's episode features Brad, Josh, Justin, and Constantly Calibrating Featured Personality Blake, and it's a good one. (Of course it is with Superblake on the show!)

Calibrating Red Dead Super Nintendo Classic 64 Oct 06, 2017

Sometimes having a last minute guest cancellation works to one's advantage. With Rockstar Games dropping a trailer for next year's Red Dead Redemption II, the team decided to do a bit of trailer analysis, meets wishful thinking. Oh, and there was also some talk of this new thing called an SNES Classic. Not to mention a look at Nintendo 64's anniversary, which completely derailed into talks of a potential N64 Classic or Gameboy Classic.

Yeah, it's a pretty Nintendo heavy show, but with some cowboys, because what's not to like there?

Calibrating Dropleaf.io with Vikram Rangraj Sep 29, 2017

The nature of gaming and game purchasing is changing. There are many factors to this, but one is that there are just too many titles available, but not enough time to play or know what you like. This, in part, is where Dropleaf comes in: Dropleaf is a subscription program giving you unlimited access to a growing library of indie PC games. Their software will also learn your habits and interests through time played, giving you a better recommendation list for the future. Frankly, it's pretty fantastic, which is why Josh & Brad had a chat with Vikram Rangraj, CEO of Dropleaf.

Even if indie gaming isn't your thing, you can't go wrong with this episode, as it's one of our most entertaining yet. From discussing of the indie gaming marketplace, to Josh's odd health issues, to a look at the wonders that is Mortal Kombat X's inclusivity...no, seriously, you'll find plenty to listen to and enjoy.

If Dropleaf seems like your thing, swing by their site and use offer code "ConCalPod" to net yourself a free month to sample their wares.

Let us know your own thoughts on this or any other topics in the comments.

    Calibrating The King's Guild Sep 22, 2017

On this week's show Brad & Josh sit down with Matthew Austin, creator of The King's Guild to discuss the pits & perils of a Kickstarter campaign, making a comeback, and explore the world of tabletop game design. There's also plenty of talk about the incredibly successful campaign for The King's Guild, which as of completion has raised over $80k.

It's a short episode, so strap in and relax. And for you video users, our sincere apologies on the video quality this week. Both our primary and backup video was corrupted severely, leading to major desyncing issues. Listening to it instead of watching may be in everyone's best interests.

Calibrating Destiny 2's Desert Plants Sep 15, 2017

this episode of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast? It was recorded live, it featured talk of Destiny 2, there was discussion of gardening in a desert climate, and an explanation of gaming grudges.

Give it a watch or listen, you may learn something*.

    * You will likely not learn anything, nor do we endorse the possibility of anyone learning anything from our show.

    Calibrating PAX West 2017 Sep 08, 2017

Dear listener: Has it really been one, five, ten, or fifteen years since we last attended PAX West? If not, please disregard this and get back to work. Distribute token of appreciation and applaud.

That's right, it's PAX West 2017 time! Woo! Let's celebrate the fun-filled show while half the United States is underwater (imminently or actually) and the other half is on fire! *cough* OK, so it's a bit of a massive downer week, but we still have an awesome show for you, featuring our original duo of Josh & Brad going over the sights, sounds, and smells of PAX West 2017.

If you're here for thoughts on panels, then good, we have some of those. How about some games talk? We definitely have that! Want to hear Josh discover a new love affair with cooking-based gaming? No, none of us wanted that, but it's here anyways!

Please consider this our week one PAX West 2017 discussion, as we'll touch base on a few more titles next week. Make sure you also check out our entire PAX West 2017 catalog of videos, which will be slowly releasing throughout the weekend. Or we'll release in one large chunk, cause the world is ending anyways.

    Too much doom?

    Calibrating GameStop Expo 2017 Sep 01, 2017

"To Las Vegas!" Josh shouted this as he and Justin went off into the wilderness of the Arizona desert; their destination an oddly small gaming convention: The GameStop Expo 2017. Their path laid out before them, they explored a wonderland of E3-like magnificence from the ever-so slightly chilly Sands Expo Hall at the Venetian. The games they played were numerous, as were the Greg Miller-based hugs.

Join us for this week's Constantly Calibrating as we welcome back Ryan, while delving into Josh & Justin's GameStop Expo 2017 path of awesomeness. If you're looking for thoughts on Super Mario Odyssey, Assassin's Creed Origins, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, or even BIOMUTANT, then you've come to the right place!

Their may also be some preemptive Destiny 2 beta thoughts buried within, as well as recriminations over choices while streaming from the show floor.

Calibrating Mass Effect Andromeda's Demise? Aug 25, 2017

This is a solemn week at the old Constantly Calibrating Factory, as the previous weekend we received word that Mass Effect was done for. The long-running series, soon to be celebrating a decade, was put out to pasture by Electronic Arts last weekend. This hit the team very hard, as Mass Effect is a large portion of why our company exists. On top of that, we really, really love Mass Effect Andromeda.

So join us in bidding farewell to a great video game series.

You know, even though it's not really dead and just being shelved for the time being...

On this week's show we're joined by Superblake to discuss the possible end of Mass Effect & definite end of Mass Effect Andromeda. There's some startling revelations, theories, and random shouting.

Additionally, Amazon is changing policies; Fortnite is "fun"; Destiny 2 is on the horizon; and Josh took his clothes off on camera...wait, what? What's going on here now?

Listen to this week's episode and find out!

Calibrating GameOn Expo 2017 & Classic Gaming Reboots Aug 18, 2017

Another week, another podcast; this week we brought back Cutwright to talk about our experiences at GameOn Expo 2017! Cutwright, and Stream Arizona, invited Constantly Calibrating to work with them at the event, and it was one awesome experience. Join our team and guest as they go into the experience that was GameOn Expo 2017.

From there this heroic team-up explores whether Fortnite is still a viable game three weeks after its early access release. And from there it's onto the main topic, where with the releases of Sonic Mania and StarCraft Remastered our team posed a question: What classic game would you love to see rebooted, remastered, or simply brought back in some capacity.

Our answers will probably not surprise you, but we did get some fun audience feedback, so make sure to join in.

Thanks for watching and listening; make sure you come back each week when we're live on Twitch, and Twitch.TV/ConstantlyCalibrating!

    Calibrating Spider-Man Homecoming Aug 11, 2017

How does one encapsulate an entire podcast, especially after a two week hiatus? Usually a description is a good place to start, so let's see what we have here.

On this week's episode, we have Brad, Josh, and Justin reviewing & spoiling the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe outing: Spider-Man Homecoming. Yes, to be clear, there are fairly heavy spoilers for the film and the franchise's future here, so be warned. This talk is preceded by talks of where we've been the last few weeks, and is followed by where we're going in the coming weeks.

There's also discussion about the latest Middle Earth: Shadow of War controversy, leading into an exploration of what games need a Nemesis system. Ramble tirades and genius ideas are sure to follow.

Also, are Walt Disney and Andrew Ryan the same person?

A whole lotta stuff on this week's episode, so stick around.

    Calibrating SDCC 2017 Jul 28, 2017

A wave of bees and a quest to become a thunder god, that's what waylaid two hosts of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast this week. Never fear, for Josh & Justin stepped up to put on a duo show the likes of which we've never seen. Join our team as they haphazardly dive into San Diego Comic Con 2017 (SDCC 2017) and the news held within.

From well made posters to brilliant trailers for Justice League and Thor Ragnarok, our team had many opinions. They also slip and slide around some Spider-Man Homecoming discussions, leading up to next week's quasi-review on the podcast.

So come along and join us on this adventure, and also check out some of the cool tech and gadgetry stuff Josh is using now.

That and more on this week's Constantly Calibrating Podcast!

    Calibrating Pre-RTX Austin 2017 Jul 08, 2017

As 2017 reaches its mid-point our team parts ways, for RTX Austin is upon us. Yes, RTX Austin, that event with which we consider home -- despite no one living anywhere near Texas -- is here again. Join our team as they discuss some loose plans for the event. Additionally, hear stories from Brad who once again can't join the rest of the crew, for he is taking his family to Disney World. That, plus an assortment of news, theories, discussions, and condemnation of Josh for missing the show.

Also, we will be off next week, as our team will still be en route home from RTX Austin during our normal stream/recording time. Maybe when we get back Josh will finally be able to discuss being manhandled by a Water Elemental.

#232 - Calibrating Chris Avellone II (Pathfinder: Kingmaker) Jul 01, 2017

Once, long ago, our team of hosts had an experience that nearly changed the very nature of their existence: They interviewed Chris Avellone. Without much in the way of hyperbole, our team was revitalized through a 40 minute interview that turned into a near 2-hour podcasting experience. Chris Avellone, a writing legend of modern times and Josh's youth, has once again returned to impart wisdom and knowledge.

The whole group also makes a large amount of dick & fart jokes, and Chris helps promote the upcoming Pathfinder: Kingsmaker. It's a Constantly Calibrating Podcast show, let's not think too high or mighty of ourselves.

If you liked the episode, let us know in whatever comments you see fit, or with a review maybe? Same goes for if you hated the entire experience. Furthermore, only you can help us convince Chris to come back to complete the trilogy of discussions. Or perhaps to take Josh on as apprentice or DM a D&D show for us. *cough*

    Calibrating E3 2017 - Part Two: Anthem Ruined Andromeda? Jun 23, 2017

E3 2017 is officially over, which, as stated on this week's episode, is absolutely glorious! The week-long event is a cornerstone event of the gaming industry, but an exhausting one to say the least. Even sitting at home and "simply" co-streaming the show and podcasting is draining on the soul and the haunches. But never fear, as this week's episode is full of pep, energy, and insight into the event, and a bit of stirring up controversy with Anthem, but more on that in a minute.

From a burgeoning focus on multiplatform gaming to a multitude of odd surprises, E3 2017 made a splash this year. Whether that splash was a triumphant cannonball, or bellyflop accompanied by a wet fart is still yet to be decided. The team at Constantly Calibrating, however, can at least say that the show provided plenty to discuss.

That's why you're listening to or watching our podcast, presumably.

There is also the suddenly growing concern among BioWare "fans" that the newly announced game Anthem ruined Mass Effect Andromeda. This is dumb and we're going to explain why, and try not to hurt your feelings on the subject. Mostly.

All that, and a host muting his mic in everything except Skype, on this week's Constantly Calibrating Podcast!

Calibrating E3 2017 - Part One: The Looks Pretty Awards Jun 16, 2017

E3 2017 has come and gone, and with it we have been left somehow with more questions than previous years: What does the future of multiplatform look like? When is Kingdom Hearts 3 releasing? Who greenlit that EA Play event? Why does Sony insist on focusing on a bored crowd, versus the actual games they're displaying? No, Seriously, when is Kingdom Hearts 3 going to relase? These are the questions we intended on asking this week, or among the ones at least. That was until some last minute illnesses and appointments laid out half of our team, as well stable of guest hosts.

So instead, you're getting two parts to our E3 2017 coverage. Next week will be the originally planned "Bring Your Own Topic (BYOT)" show, while this week...this week is something entirely different.

At Constantly Calibrating we have an issue with keeping up with traditions; this goes doubly so for our own. Every year we mold, redistribute, and change the very nature of how we work. It's not really a planned thing in our nature, but the cost of spending five years trying to figure out our place. As such, traditions become challenging to keep.

That is until now, as we're bringing back the 2016 "Looks Pretty" Awards and pushing them forward into E3 2017. The Looks Pretties is our version of a "most anticipated" event. They're virtual (soon physical) awards we give for games that simply look awesome, neat, or yes, pretty. They're the games that E3 or other events left us with a strong desire for, but may honestly even fade before the next event. It's a shifting, swirling world of desires and interests, that even two days after recording we may not entirely agree with. It's about being in the moment, and in the moment, we have our award show.

Let us know what you think deserves your own Looks Pretty Award, and even feel free to tell us off if we somehow got it wrong.

    Calibrating Kinda Funny Live 3 & Pre-E3 Predictions w/ Superblake Jun 09, 2017

E3 is upon us. Starting this coming weekend the gaming industry will sweep over Los Angeles like a plague; those left in its wake will be either destroyed or majority investors in an up-and-coming indie game on Kickstarter. But never fear! As our team of Brad & Josh are joined by the magnificent; the wonderful; the hero from somewhere in Texas or Twitch or wherever; that's right, we're talking about Superblake! The man known as Superblake has come to our aid in our time of need to figure out what may arise starting on Saturday.

But wait, there is oh so much more entertainment to be had, as Justin has returned from the land of Kinda Funny Live 3. That's right, the Lord of the Best Friends, Greg Miller, has returned Justin to our world. Justin sat down with Josh to discuss his captivity and wonderment, alongside a healthy dose of Stockholm Syndrome. You can listen or watch that specifically at 42:30 or 34:00, respectively.

Well, it appears we've covered much of our tale of heroism, destruction, and hyperbole. Let us know your thoughts on this episode in the comments. Also, please join us this weekend & upcoming week on our Twitch Affiliated channel for live coverage of E3. More details below, or at the following location.

    Calibrating Phoenix Comicon 2017 Jun 02, 2017

The time of Phoenix Comicon 2017 and possibly Phoenix Comicon as a whole has come to an end. OK, the last part is a bit of hyperbole, but after all of the drama and controversies of the last few months collided in a fireball of heat and even more controversies, it's hard not to think that for a moment. No, Phoenix Comicon will continue on, but perhaps this year will be the change that brings it back to greatness again. Or it'll be just another wet fart on the roadmap that is convention season. Either way, Josh had a great time and more stories to tell you can possibly imagine! Seriously, no on could get him to shut his damn mouth, but the stories were pretty interesting and his takes quite hot (four days ago).

Join as the team covers Phoenix Comicon 2017, drawls on about the ridiculous nature of pyramid schemes multi-leveled marketing plans, wonders along with Brad's streaming setup plans, and bids a brief adieu to Justin as he departs for Kinda Funny Live 3.

All that and a bunch more on this week's fun-enforced episode of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast.

Calibrating The Destiny 2 Appeasement Special with DietColaFTW May 26, 2017

For months Brad has been shouting in the Constantly Calibrating Slack, demanding our team take another look at Destiny. Destiny, the game that once, twice, or even thrice burned out members. We all (we being Josh & Ryan) decided to just ignore him and eventually the "Brad Overhyper 3000" would cool off and let us go back to work.

He didn't. He only got louder.

So loud in fact, that he contacted a friend of his, Destiny uber-fan DietColaFTW. He and Brad hatched a plan to smother Josh & Ryan in all the shiny goodness of what Destiny is, and what Destiny 2 could be. Well, either to do that or simply have DietColaFTW on an episode of the podcast to discuss Destiny 2. After much persuading, the date was set and above and below you'll find that show. Frankly, it's a really good show with a slew of information both on Destiny 2, as well as why members of our team departed the original game.

Furthermore, it also serves as the return of co-host Justin, long thought lost inside a board game or perhaps a really large department store. Maybe he was just registered to the wrong email address.

So join us as we explore what Destiny 2 could be, what we want to see it become, and what it would take our team to come back!

Oh, we also became Twitch Affilliates and have sponsors on the podcast again.

    So....sign off.

Calibrating Lauren Walsh Art May 19, 2017

After many years and countless eons of discussion, finally the time hath come for us to have Lauren Walsh, druid artist from the stars, on the Constantly Calibrating Podcast. Our team has known Lauren for arguably longer than there has been a podcast, but the timing of appearances was just never right. We also forgot to actually ask her at any point, which may have been a major deciding factor. But never fear, for Lauren Walsh made her triumphant appearance from within her glorious, and oddly witch-like studio.

So, with that in mind, allow us to entertain you with tales of her friendship with Brad & Ryan, stories of getting into the World of Warcraft, a journey into discovering that art school is crap and learning to art is best done on your own, and some flowing thoughts on the fact that you should frelling pay artists for their frelling work!!

That being said, it's a good show. It's a lovely show. It's a show you an take home to your parents when you're ready to settle down. We'll be here, waiting for you.

Make sure to subscribe and follow at the below locations, and leave a review if you feel so inclined. It would help us to continue growing and bringing in more awesome guests.

    Calibrating Therapeutic D&D May 12, 2017

With Justin still sidelined from the podcast, the team was in search of someone to help out on the show. Then, as if the Internet just knew, Cutwright was deposited before them. The man of legend and recent Twitch Affiliate messaged Josh one night with a proposal, a simple proposal: "Hey, when am I coming on the podcast again?"

This is that podcast, and this is that episode. An episode wherein the team mostly just carried over leftover topics from the week before.

Of course, this worked to everyone's benefit, as what better person to discuss being a Twitch Affiliate with, than a person who recently achieved that status. Furthermore, there's nothing like discussing the therapeutic nature of Dungeons & Dragons -- and similar RPG-styled games -- than with someone who apparently secretly studied psychology once upon a time.

All of this, plus some shameless and shameful self-promotion on what critics are calling "the best episode of Constantly Calibrating this season."*

    Join us, you'll like it.

*This its technically true, as Josh & Ryan are both critics and Brad is very critical.

Calibrating Embarrassing Gaming Moments May 05, 2017

We've all had those embarrassing gaming moments. You're playing a game for hours on end, and suddenly you do something really stupid, then boom, embarrassment. Or maybe, just maybe something out of the ordinary happens without your input. Perhaps you inexplicably pop an erection while playing Rampage World Tour on the N64 when you're 12 years old. Hey, we've all be there, and it's nothing to be ashamed about; you were young and your body was confused due to hormones.

There's nothing to be ashamed about, which is why we've gathered you all here for our embarrassing gaming moments show. Perhaps this is the first time we're doing this, or perhaps we're 224 episodes in and have lost grip on reality. Whatever the case may be, we're here to commiserate with you on the moments of embarrassment we all face in gaming.

So, join us for a fun-filled episode; one with minimal toddler interruptions. Don't worry, it's not all embarrassing, as members of our team look at the new Nintendo 2DS XL and try to figure out why it exists. There's also plenty of other disparate and random topics, plus a wee bit of betting on the side.

Calibrating The Last Jedi & Star Wars Theories w/ Casting for Two Apr 28, 2017

On Constantly Calibrating we abide by a simple rule: keep the show going, no matter what. So, when Josh's toddler decides to go nuclear on his diaper 30 seconds after the stream goes live, we keep going. When said child wanders into the room with thoughts on the current political climate, we keep going. When secret businesses are uncovered related to our guests, we...well you see how this works. So, don't be surprised if in this Star Wars fueled episode it takes a fair bit to get to that wonderful war of the stars. It takes a bit to get to The Last Jedi, but when we do...we derail and move onto other Star Wars topics.

Don't forget to check out the fan film we review towards the end, Star Wars: The Force and the Fury, as it's a delightful romp through a section of the Star Wars universe.

And don't go looking in that never before discussed Constantly Calibrating rulebook for that never discussed simple rule. Such things are not for the likes of you!

    Enjoy!

Calibrating VR & Cruiserweights with Justine Colla Apr 21, 2017

With April drawing to a middle, we have reached the end of this month's not-so-series of interviews. Last week we brought you the fun-filled look at Yacht Club Games, and the making of Shovel Knight. On this week's edition, we're bringing you a look at the world of VR and a brief gander at Australian game development, as we're talking to Justine Colla. Our topics for the night included what got her into gaming, the growth and progress of VR, and whether that platform is niche or here to stay.

Justine, formerly of Atla VR and now at Suprise Attack Games, isn't just a game developer and marketer; no sir! If you've checked out her Twitter page recently, you would know she is totally secretly a huuuuuuge wrestling mark. (We mean that from a place of love, as half of our podcast team identifies with that lifestyle as well.) She's not just into wrestling and WWE content, but is also an accomplished wrestling fan artist with a following knowing her as the "cruiserweight mom".

While this episode started off a little slowly -- Skype had large delays with the Arizona to Australia connection -- it shaped up to be one of our favorite chats so far in 2017. Give it a watch, give it a listen, and then make sure to swing by our iTunes page and drop off a review. We'll love you forever if you did.

You can find more out about Justine Colla on her website or Twitter, and can support her wrestling fan art habits on her storefront or her super awesome Patreon. Tell her we sent you, because we want her to come back again for more chats.

Seriously, Josh had a dream Monday night where she helped relaunch ConCal Armbar! with him and Ryan. It was a really great dream from what we've heard.

Calibrating Yacht Club Games Apr 14, 2017

Two years ago at PAX East 2015 Justin was wandering the slightly less frigid wasteland of the Boston Convention Center, in search of game developers to talk to. He was not of the media pass holder type of attendee for this event, so easy conversations and networking were beyond his hopes. Then, from across the expo hall he spotted a booth. It was a booth not unlike the others, but what he saw was a knight...and a shovel.

He ventured closer, daring to see if these fine people had a game of interest to show him. What he spotted was a retro-styled platformer he has long been curious about. But what was this, did his eyes deceive him? Surely that was not the classic Battletoads hanging out with this Shovel Knight? Surely that wasn't Kratos, the God of War, chilling out with the blue armored titan of men?

It was at this point that Justin spotted one Sean Velasco, setting up an interview with the gentleman of Yacht Club Games. One thing led to another, and Constantly Calibrating got on their media list and even received review codes for Shovel Knight. That started Josh's journey towards booking Yacht Club Games for a podcast appearance.

An attempt was made, but they were finishing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 releases of Shovel Knight.

Another attempt was made, but they were busy developing Plague of Shadows.

Finally, at the start of 2017 a third attempt was made, despite the team working towards the release of Specter of Torment. Which is why we're here!

So join Josh & Justin as they chat with Sean Velasco and Woz of Yacht Club Games about the past, present, and future of Shovel Knight. Perhaps even some discussions about what they may do outside of our favored knight.

As always, comments and feedback makes us gassy is appreciated.

Calibrating Second First Impressions - Mass Effect Andromeda Mar 31, 2017

Mass Effect Andromeda. You, our loyal fans and new people discovering us must have known that the back-half of March was going to be Mass Effect heavy. With a name like Constantly Calibrating, and a history of going on emotional tirades whenever BioWare's space opera is mentioned should have made this obvious. If it wasn't, then you're in for a treat for this, the last episode of March 2017.

On this week's show we delve into the aforementioned Mass Effect Andromeda. Spoilers are kept to a minimum, as this is our first real impressions on the game. You may hear the name of a planet, companion, or sexual position, but nothing that is likely to ruin your entire experience. Unless you're anti-space banging, which is just...how can you live with yourself? The team crosses all around the Helius Cluster, picking out thoughts on the game's mechanics, poking at terrible design choices (hello galaxy map!), and jumping on and off several bandwagons, of which many were self-created.

There is also talk of the recently announced StarCraft remaster, a few thoughts on Destiny 2 (Des2ny's Child), and some sports talk? Yeah, we all have concerns on that. And no, we can't be specific, as that particular word associated with that specific team is what got us removed from iTunes last time. No joke!

Let us know your own thoughts on this and more in the comments wherever you find this episode.

Calibrating Gamer Entitlement Mar 25, 2017

This week's edition of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast may be a day late, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. First off, our apologies on the delay in release, but between a toddler on spring break and a major 48 hour Internet outage, there was limited means by which to be prepared. Unless you're expecting us to have content prepped days ahead of time, cause that would be silly... Anyways, onto gamer entitlement...

Yes, gamer entitlement has become a growing concern in the video game industry over the years. It's understandable and obvious that consumer's would want the best and most complete experience after dropping $60. That makes absolute, perfect sense and they should get value out of every dollar spent. What is not reasonable, understandable, or even logical is for them to take to social media to curse at, scream at, and threaten violence on people who are devoting their lives to creating enjoyable products. Maybe the game fell short; maybe it was outright garbage, but on what planet does that justify the threats and insanity seen online.

We at Constantly Calibrating finally are putting our thoughts in on this topic that we should've weighed in on years ago. Before listening, and probably cursing us out on social media, let's drop in one simple tip: Prior to posting a comment to a developer, ask yourself if you would say this to their face. If the answer is no, then reconsider what you're typing. See, it's so simple!

Now please enjoy the show, which also includes some spoiler-free thoughts on Iron Fist and a brief sound issue around the 15-minute mark.

Oh, and please just be excellent to each other; it's not that difficult, I assure you.

    <3

Party on Dudes...Had to be done...

    Calibrating Justin's PAX East 2017 Boogaloo Mar 17, 2017

For this week's adventure in podcasting our team sent intrepid individual, and Constantly Calibrating Creative Director, Justin Stanley to the surprisingly frigid hellscape* of Boston, Massachusetts. Why would we do such a thing, you may be asking? Well, because last weekend it was PAX East 2017!

That's right, Justin went to the land of Quincy Market to explore the wonders of Penny Arcade's annual eastern-based gaming experience to acquire tales to delight and tantalize you. From games like Graveyard Keeper and Songbringer to Flipping Death and Northgard, we have many a tale.

    But that's not all!

In addition the team explores the world of who is allowed to repair your broken consoles, while pondering what happened to Josh at the start of the show.

Welcome to episode 218 of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast!

*To be abundantly clear, we have nothing against Boston. In fact, it's in Josh's top 5 favorite cities in the world, but as anyone who was there last weekend knows, it was cold as frell.

Calibrating Our 5th Anniversary & Breath of the Wild Impressions Mar 10, 2017

How does one summarize 5 years of running a podcast? No, seriously, tell me how, because I've been sitting in front of this keyboard for a month trying to write something profound about the experience; something that most likely only 10 people will read at any point in time. Instead, words have betrayed me, as I'm utterly speechless about the amount of time that has gone by. Well, not utterly speechless since I'm still capable of rambling like this. I could simply ignore the anniversary and focus on our Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild first impressions, or elucidate on something learned from the Nintendo Switch, but that wouldn't do our anniversary the justice it deserves.

Frankly, what would truly do it justice is if you all gave it a listen and joined us as we both celebrated and ignored this pivotal milestone for Constantly Calibrating. You see what I did there? You see that Jewish mother level of guilt-tripping? Good, because despite some technical issues on both of Ryan & Thaddeus' audio tracks, this episode was still one of my favorite experiences in the last 5 years. I sat down with my friends and discussed video games, movies, and my own history, and then I got to be center of attention for the show and extol their virtues and sing their praises. It was a win/win scenario of epic proportions, and one I wouldn't have been able to do without you all listening and watching and putting up with our nonsense for 5 years.

5 years! On March 10th, 2012 we released the very first episode of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast, one where we simply talked about Mass Effect 3. Now we're 11 days away from the start of a new journey in the saga, so the show begins with the end of our longest-running joke. Brad has finally beaten Mass Effect 3.

    Our long nightmare is over.

So please join us to celebrate and let us know what you hope to see from us in 2017 and beyond.

    Thank you, Josh

P.S. Justin & I licked the Breath of the Wild cartridge. Enjoy our suffering, as I'm pretty sure I'm allergic.

Calibrating DLC; It's Not a Bad Thing Mar 03, 2017

Since the dawn of Horse Armor, the gaming landscape has been plagued by downloadable content. Once thought to be an added, paid bonus for games, DLC has gone from good to bad to worse in the intervening decade. Then the unthinkable happened: Nintendo announced a poorly explained Season Pass for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the ground fell out beneath us all. That is, it would've if not for the fact that at Constantly Calibrating the team has always stuck to a simple fact: DLC is not bad; at least not inherently.

To provide a counter and show the team the errors of their ways, they brought in Jenn VanGemert, AKA LoZelda. At least that was the plan, as the podcast went and took about 42 twists and turns and ended up with something else entirely.

Listener (or viewer) be prepared for a journey the likes of which you may never have experienced, this week on the Constantly Calibrating Podcast.

Calibrating Dark Soles: A Barefoot Romp Through the "Git Gud" Genre Feb 24, 2017

Journey with us to a land of misbegotten thoughts, as our team is joined by special guest Cutwright for a romp in the "Git Gud" or "Why can't I say alive" genre of gaming. Our panel of exhausted and sometimes humiliated hosts explore this genre from humble beginnings as Demon Souls, all the way up to recent release NiOH, and beyond to find out why people keep playing them. Co-host Josh also tries to read fan/audience submissions at the most inopportune of times.

Before getting to the meat of the show, the team settle in as Josh drops a review for Mitch Rapp: Off Book, releasing March 6th. Let's also not forget the exploration of the Nintendo Switch UI leak, what in the world is up with the box sizes for the system, and an exploration of a recent Mass Effect Andromeda game series video.

That and more, possibly less, possibly and accurate representation on this week's episode of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast.

Calibrating Emotional Gaming Music Feb 17, 2017

    Do you hear that?

Hopefully you do, because on this episode the ConCal Crew digs deep into music and sound design. They’ve also dug up a great guest co-host in the amazing Chris Hernandez from the Casting for Two podcast.

We all touch on the music from games that make us feel things.

Yes! Real human emotions like we’re supposed to feel! We also take the time to discuss how sound design in general has made us better players (and people).

Plus, we spread some hot some steamy love towards the upcoming games Anew: The Distant Light and GreedFall, in which we look forward to handling our moosetree creatures with care.

Calibrating Ghost Recon Wildlands Beta Feb 11, 2017

The crew once again is reduced to two, as illness runs rampant in the Constantly Calibrating virtual office. This of course means that for possibly the first time ever, Josh and Justin have the show to themselves! Watch and listen as our two-man team dishes out their thoughts on the Ghost Recon Wildlands Beta, offers thoughts on Resident Evil 7 (possibly the second time), and generally derail each other for just under an hour.

This is a podcast that there is at least a 42% chance that you won't want to miss!

Calibrating Regrettable Gaming Achievements Feb 04, 2017

We take a moment to go over those regrettable moments, like the ones your mom shares to your new girlfriend but with games. Also, Han Solo Cup and "Clara, I need to stick these ... way up in there."

Calibrating 2017’s Most Anticipated Games Jan 28, 2017

This episode touches on the name of the new Star Wars flick and contains the ConCal crew gushing about which titles of 2017 have them quivering with antici...........pation.

Calibrating A Woeful Nintendo Switch Event Jan 21, 2017

Like a 1950's greaser, Nintendo whips out its "Switch" blade and the ConCal crew is here to touch on all it's greasy goodness.

    Calibrating CES 2017 Jan 14, 2017

CES-travaganza! The ConCal crew drools over Mass Effect Andromeda, questions NVIDIA's foray into Big Brother territory, predicts how Nintendo will "Switch" things up, and performs a hostile takeover of Riverdale.

Calibrating Rogue One Dec 31, 2016

A long time ago, on an internet far, far away...the Constantly Calibrating crew dissects the most recent Star Wars film, Rogue One. The Force is...unsure about how to feel about this. The Constantly Calibrating crew also has the unfortunate honor of saying goodbye to our favorite princess and mental health advocate, Carrie Fisher.

Calibrating Our 2016 Gaming Awards Dec 24, 2016

It's that special time of year again. Where you grab a seat by the fire, cuddle up close to the ones you love, and remind them that their opinions of "2016's best-ofs" are far inferior to yours. The ConCal crew goes over their gaming favorites from the "Year That Wouldn't Die, Yet Killed Everyone."

    Calibrating A Return & A Bit of Nothing Dec 17, 2016

We finally are welcoming Ryan back from the brink of death, or at least the members of the team who showed up are. The team also discusses what their plans are for the holidays and what they’re hoping they’ll find under the tree this holiday season! They also ramble a bit about nothing, but you already knew that before you even read this.

Calibrating The Game Awards 2016 Dec 10, 2016

On the latest episode of Constantly Calibrating, the team discusses The Game Awards. What did they like? What did they hate? Does Geoff Keighley desire a marriage to Hideo Kojima? Find out all you need to know, or at least most of it, right here!

Calibrating Post Black Friday Shenanigans Dec 03, 2016

This week, only two of the Constantly Calibrating team survived Black Friday to discuss the yearly insanity's aftermath, and the outcome of their wallets. They also discuss the new No Mans Sky update and whether or not everything they now offer is enough to forgive the horrible excuse for a game that they originally released.

Calibrating Pokemon Sun & Moon & Thanksgiving Nov 26, 2016

On this week's Constantly Calibrating, some of the team celebrates the latest installment of Pokemon! While others are not living up to the hype, and are willing to voice their concerns. Can Brad convince Thad that Pokemon isn’t a casual game? Probably not, but he can certainly try.

That plus a degree of annoyance at Josh's wandering off to Disneyland.

Calibrating Bryden Keks & Gaming PR Nov 19, 2016

This week's podcast is one that Josh has been dreaming of for months: he gets to learn about being PR for the gaming industry! That's right, on this week's episode we finally have a guest from the public relations & marketing side of gaming, as we're joined by Evolve PR's very own Bryden Keks.

Bryden, having started his career as a content creator, has worked for the last year and a half at Evolve PR, one of Constantly Calibrating's main PR pals. Having helped pull off the company's first Extra Life stream (adding up to over 60 hours of content) Bryden decided to celebrate by joining the Constantly Calibrating Podcast crew. (No, we aren't entirely sure why this happened either.)

So join us for a fun filled festival of fascinating and frivolous conversation!

    Calibrating N7 Day 2016 Nov 12, 2016

On this week's Constantly Calibrating we're ridiculously tired. Like, our spirits are willing, but our flesh is spongy and bruised. After conducting a 25+ hour live stream for Extra Life -- which you can still donate to at www.ConstantlyCalibrating.com/ExtraLife -- our team (those that survived) have gathered to discuss the stream as a whole. We talk about what went right, what went awry, and how we can do better for next time. We also delve into everyone (within memory) that we could possibly thank.

From there Brad took a trip down Blizzcon lane, extolling the virtues of the now revealed Sombra, looking at the possible demise of Starcraft 2, and building off of World of Warcraft possibly hitting his dream levels again.

Oh, and did we mention that Josh lost his mind and discussed N7 Day & Mass Effect Andromeda for 30 minutes? Cause that is kind of important. If you're watching the video podcast on YouTube, you'll see us experiment with our first React-styled content. We cover Andromeda facts, theories, and the merch surrounding N7 Day.

Take a listen or a watch and join us for this fun discussion.

    Calibrating Extra Life 2016 Nov 04, 2016

Our team is in the process of gearing up for Extra Life 2016, which meant this week's episode was a bit off the cuff compared to usual. Listen as we discuss plans, hopes, dreams, and much more. We also go on about thoughts of playing our first Dungeons & Dragons campaign, before going a bit off rails.

Oh, there's also some stupid costume stuff because we filmed it on Halloween. Yeah, that was a thing.

    It's a fun one, I assure you.

Calibrating Nintendo Switch to Cowboy Oct 29, 2016

The time of the podcast has come at last, albeit it a day late. Our apologies, but apparently there were some undesirables on one of the tracks that took some time to prune out. That being said, we have an outstanding show for you this week as we cover (for real this time) the Nintendo Switch and thoughts on Red Dead Redemption 2.

Isn't it magical that we get to discuss the same thing two weeks in a row due to last week's show recording before a big news break? I know, right?

That being said, we also give you some thoughts on the trailer for Logan & the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 teaser.

Did we discuss more than this? Well you just have to listen to find out!

Also, if you're seeing this prior to November 5th, make sure to donate to our Extra Life stream at www.constantlycalibrating.com/ExtraLife. We're hosting a 25-hour livestream at www.twitch.tv/ConstantlyCalibrating and would love your support!

Calibrating Red Dead Redemption 2 Theories Oct 22, 2016

A new week begins as our brave team goes head to head with a new podcast. It's episode 198, which means we're quickly closing in on the fabled episode 200...which we can't seem to remember to promote. Lovely.

But fear not! It's not Halloween yet, which means we're hear to talk to you about news that has completely unfurled since the time of this podcast's recording. Yes, we're talking Red Dead Redemption 2, and also the Nintendo NX -- debuted as Nintendo Switch after recording -- oh, and also that voice actors strike that finally came to a head. Yeah, consider this the week of stories that prove we should record this show on Wednesday nights instead.

Alas, again this is life and we still put on a phenomenal show that you SHOULD listen to. our theories on what is now Red Dead Redemption 2 alone are something you should take in. Not to mention the fact that we have first thoughts from Justin on the PlayStation VR, and we brought in a full team plus one (that's FIVE people) for this episode.

So come watch, listen, and ingest this glowing podcast of GLORIOUS aural domination.

Calibrating Hurricanes & New York Comic Con Oct 15, 2016

Due to the nature of this week we would like to apologize for the delay in releasing episode 197 of the Constantly Calibrating Podcast. That being said, if you followed us on Twitch at www.twitch.tv/constantlycalibrating, you probably watched it live anyways. (Hint, Hint.)

That being said, this week's podcast is presented by the letter "H", as in hurricane. That's right, our team discussed the fallout and experiences for the east coast group during Hurricane Matthew, and how it selfishly messed up our ability to output content the last two weeks. From there we explored New York Comic Con news, including a first Power Rangers trailer, news on Marvel's The Defenders, and thoughts on the state of the Arrowverse (The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, & Supergirl). Additionally we have thoughts on Mafia III straight from Justin & Thaddeus, alongside visual interpretive emotional displacement from Josh & Braddeus.

Calibrating TwitchCon with Cutwright Oct 07, 2016

Just in time for the weekend, it's Constantly Calibrating, hosted as always by Brad Coggins, with Josh Silverman, and Justin Stanley co-hosting. But what's that? This week we have a special guest host, as we are joined by the one and only Cutwright. He is here to regale us with tales of TwitchCon, and to join in on our chat about Twitch Prime as well.

Additionally, Justin and Brad go into a needlessly long spoiler-free look at Marvel's Luke Cage, Josh discovers a new Mass Effect and new Dragon Age comic series (plus adult coloring books), and Brad has thoughts on the new CW App that was stealthily released.

That and somehow simultaneously more and less on this week's Constantly Calibrating Podcast.

Oh and please note: This week's audio podcast was last minute edited by myself, Josh Silverman. I haven't edited the audio portion of this show in a very long time, and we were testing out some new equipment, so apologies if that sound wasn't up to our usual standards.

Calibrating Passed Over Games Sep 30, 2016

For our second week back post hiatus, we thought we'd take a look at why we sometimes pass over games we really want to play. What games get passed over, and why? While Josh is fixated on Project Highrise for much of this discussion, Brad and Ryan opt to branch out. They go into talks of Brad's initial thoughts on Rick & Morty, and ponder about a new renaissance for South Park. The entire team -- minus Justin who fell asleep in his chair -- end the show by trying to figure out what is up with the new astrological signs.

Did we mention we actually got a video episode recorded this week? No, well make sure to watch that, if you have time and give us feedback. We're looking to make the video experience the definitive source for Constantly Calibrating. Also, make sure you join us live each and every Monday night at 6PM PT on Twitch at www.twitch.tv/ConstantlyCalibrating for brand new episodes!

Calibrating Hiatus Returns Sep 24, 2016

    WE'RE BACK!

*cough* OK, so maybe shouting wasn't necessary, but here at Constantly Calibrating we're extremely excited to let you all know that we're back! Yes, our 10 week hiatus at last has come to an end, and with it we're also back to doing weekly podcast. Seriously, this week couldn't be more awesome if we tried...which we should probably start trying, as major technical shit (as always) delayed the recorded release this week.

But enough about our problems, for now, let's talk about what this episode is about!

This week on the Constantly Calibrating podcast we discussed our time away and how a hiatus was necessary. We talked about some of the changes facing Constantly Calibrating as we move into being a business, instead of the hobby it had been for 4+ years. While not everything was discussed -- we need some cards to be hidden -- we did go into some new content and changes on this very show.

Additionally we talked about Josh & Justin's trip to PAX West 2016, Chris Metzen leaving Blizzard, and some kerfluffle stuff over at Steam (which has apparently been resolved since this episode's live airing.

Remember, you can always catch the Constantly Calibrating Podcast live on Twitch every Monday night, currently at 9PM ET.

Calibrating RTX 2016 & Pokemon Go Launch Jul 16, 2016

This week's show is chock full of discussions about Constantly Calibrating's recent sojourn to Austin, TX for RTX 2016, Rooster Teeth's annual event. We also delve into the launch of Pokemon GO, which seems like a pretty tame, not at all world-changing experience.

#192 - Calibrating Sexuality in Mass Effect (Phoenix Comicon) Jun 23, 2016

At Phoenix Comicon 2016, Joshua Silverman (Editor-in-Chief), Brian McDaniel (Head of Business Development), and Thaddeus Adams (Content Development Manager) walked into a room at the Phoenix Convention Center and discussed Sexuality in Mass Effect. That's right, we tackled the topics that have been on Mass Effect fan's minds for nearly a decade now:

    • If a Krogan has four testicles, how many dicks do they have?
    • Can we fill a room with people wanting to discuss Turian dicks?
    • What is Geth sexuality?
    • Is it possible to have a serious conversation about Sexuality in Mass Effect?

These questions, and many more, were answered to some degree during our Phoenix Comicon panel; a panel that was such an overwhelming success that we can't wait to do it again next year!

So sit back and join us as we take a deep look into Sexuality in Mass Effect.

The "Sexy Garrus" featured in our podcast feature image can be found here and is not owned, nor was it created by Constantly Calibrating.

    Calibrating The E3 2016 Special Jun 19, 2016

Another E3 has come and gone, but that doesn't mean we're letting the hype die down just yet. E3 2016 brought with it the usual array of awesome, horrifying, strange, and confusing moments we've grown to love over the years. On Monday night's live podcast Brad, Josh, Justin, and Thad broke down the moments from the major press events (minus Nintendo's which had not happened yet) and figured out their best moments and biggest downfalls.

The chat was lively, bringing many a discussion veering off the tracks and also creating some of the most fun we've had on the show. Make sure you join us for the live show every Monday night at 7:15PM PT / 10:15PM ET at www.twitch.tv/constantlycalibrating.

Calibrating Overwatch Post Launch Fever Jun 11, 2016

On this week's episode of Constantly Calibrating, Justin is out visiting his lord and savior Greg Miller at Kinda Funny Live 2, while the rest of us are chatting Overwatch and its post release experience. To make up for the loss of our beloved Creative Director, we've brought in new Constantly Calibrating writer Ryan Firster for yet another guest appearance.

In addition to cycling through the haze of rage and love that is the Overwatch experience, the team discusses the upcoming Phoenix Comicon and Thad and Josh's plans for the event. If you're in Phoenix and attending, make sure you check them out at the show and say hi!

Also, it's worth mentioning that we're FINALLY back on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, and many more locations. You can find out more info on that on our website.

Calibrating Episode 189 - The One We Lost May 20, 2016

Due to an array of technical errors and poor file management we sadly have lost episode 189 of Constantly Calibrating. Please ignore this major mistake on our parts and check out our earlier or later episodes at your pleasure.

    Calibrating E3 2016 Predictions May 07, 2016

It's that time of the year, the time when Brad insists on doing E3 2016 predictions nearly 2 months before the biggest event in gaming. With that we discussed how E3 just may not be worth it, with all the developers and publishers dropping out of it. We also wonder about what the hell Nintendo has up its sleeves with NX.

That's it, a whole lot of E3 2016 predictions. You should listen once now and again at the end of June. Tell us what we got right and what we got wrong.

Calibrating Final Fantasy XV Apr 09, 2016

This week's episode is all about Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy XV. That's right, we're taking an overarching look at both the Final Fantasy XV Unveiled event, hosted by Greg Miller and Tim Gettys, as well as a look at the Final Fantasy XV: Platinum Demo which just went live.

Throughout the discussion our team members also gave thoughts to other topics related to Final Fantasy, including, but not limited to Kingdom Hearts. That's right, it's JRPG week on Constantly Calibrating, so grab your squeaky hammer and spike up your hair for some Calibrating Final Fantasy XV action!

Calibrating the Man Called Thad Apr 02, 2016

After a few weeks off the "air" we're back with a brand new episode, as well as a brand new host for the show: Thaddeus "Thad" Adams!

This episode is heavily based in news, from CW shows being renewed, to thoughts on VR, and early E3 predictions. Just also has some woes and misbegotten thoughts regarding being social media manager for Constantly Calibrating.

Brad also goes Black Desert Online happy, as one does from time to time.

Calibrating Stardew Desert Legends Online Mar 11, 2016

We're back up to our semi-full threesome again, as Brad, Josh, and Justin are on the show at the same time! On this week's show we covered Black Desert Online, Stardew Valley, Fable Legends cancellation, and the demise of Lionhead Studios.

That plus some mindless grieving, and an attempt to fill this description box up with as many words as possible, on another brand new episode of Constantly Calibrating.

Calibrating Pokemon and PSP Mar 04, 2016

This week we leave you with Brad and Justin and the brakes have been cut. They talk about Pokemon, the PSP, and explore the wonders that happen to be within this life we call "not death".

Calibrating A Personal Gaming Narrative Feb 26, 2016

For this week's show we're down to only two hosts, as Brad and Josh take on the idea of having a personal gaming narrative. For Josh it started with the realization of what playing XCOM 2 was doing to his mind, then spilled off into this topic. They cover fan fictions, immersion, and how a personal gaming narrative can build the bridge between people to truly enjoy gaming for what it is.

Calibrating Our Own Morality and Firewatch Feb 12, 2016

Morality systems have a major component of gaming for the better part of two decades, but are they beneficial or holding back true emotional development. Our team explores the pitfalls of the binary morality system and envisions their perfect emotional gaming landscape.

That, plus thoughts on Firewatch in this week's episode.

Calibrating David Jaffe Feb 05, 2016

Long ago, when Josh was just a lad of 16 or so, he dreamed that one day he would get to talk to the game developers he had long (since like a week earlier) admired. Last month the first opportunity arose when Chris Avellone stumbled onto our podcast set, ready to chat.

Now, at the start of February, the second of this set has found his way onto our shores. I'm of course speaking of the illusive David Jaffe.

On this week's show, Brad, Justin, and Josh had a lovely chat with David Jaffe about his upcoming project, Drawn to Death, while delving a bit into transparency in gaming. David may have also humiliated Josh in spectacular fashion.

After the interview, Josh regaled the team with a story of Justin's doppleganger, before going into a spoiler-free review of Rooster Teeth's Lazer Team -- you can find a written review of Lazer Team here.

Make sure you give this wonderful episode a listen and tell your friends.

Calibrating Assassin's Creed Franchise VR Edition Jan 22, 2016

On this week's podcast we discussed the Assassin's Creed franchise, VR gaming, then conceptualized a world of Assassin's Creed VR gaming goodness. It's a good one, so strap in for an interesting journey.

Calibrating Upgrading for Gaming Jan 15, 2016

A reduced team takes a look at what is required when one considers upgrading for gaming. Whether it be console, PC, or even mobile, we all need to upgrade now and again, but what truly warrants an upgrade?

There's a 42% chance we have an answer

Calibrating the Best of 2015 Gaming Jan 08, 2016

At the start of this new year, our team takes a look at the last year in gaming.

    Calibrating 2015 Jan 01, 2016

As the year 2015 came to a close, our team looked back on what they had accomplished and what events (both literal and figurative) had the most impact on them. Well, the entire team would've if Brian hadn't been lost in time and Justin hadn't misplaced some of his teeth. That being said, even down two men, Brad and Josh managed to pull themselves together for a heartfelt first time in a hundred episodes duo session of Constantly Calibrating.

It was poignant. It was moving. It was the year of our Lord Garrus' 2015th year...in review.

Calibrating Star Wars The Force Awakens Spoilerscast Dec 24, 2015

The evening of Star Wars The Force Awakens release a thought occurred to our intrepid team of podcasters: Holy shit, we're about to watch a new Star Wars! That excitement was then harnessed, bottled, and subsequently delivered to you, our loyal audience in the form of an intended to be live Star Wars The Force Awakens Spoilerscast last Friday.

Now that we're in Christmas week, we're giving you all the chance to watch and listen to us talk for an hour about everything Star Wars The Force Awakens related. Yes, we spoil everything and as such you should anticipate everything to be spoiled!

Calibrating Chris Avellone Dec 16, 2015

This week, the guys had the pleasure of talking with Chris Avellone!

In a whirlwind of fangirling, fervently spoken “F*** You’s”, and in depth looks into the process of producing larger RPGs titles, we had a fantastic time.

One of the larger items that kept coming back in all the discussion, is that sometimes the simplest way to approach a problem is to write it out by hand. That and having someone outside of yourself and your vision to look at your work.

There were a lot of great nuggets in this week's episode, and we hope enjoy this as much as we did on this episode of Constantly Calibrating!

    Calibrating Justin’s PSX Jamboree Dec 09, 2015

This week, Justin took the helm and full steam ahead into his weekend that was PlayStation Experience 2015.

From Playstation VR to a complete decade of Uncharted to totally no new Crash Bandicoot in the works, Justin was unstoppable in his coverage. And there was a lot that was revealed (but not leaked!).

We were enthralled, and we hope you will be too with this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Game Fatigue Dec 04, 2015

There is something magical when you pick up a game and enjoy it thoroughly.

But what happens when you no longer play, or even care to play?

This week, the Brad, Justin, and Brian talk about game fatigue; those times when we set games down. For some, it is that they no longer care for the title or series. For others, it is a lack of interest, or even that their interest has shifted to something shinier.

What makes you set down games and stop playing them?

Let us know as you listen to this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Black Friday Madness Nov 27, 2015

This week, the guys pondered the depths of human depravity.

Or in other words, Black Friday.

The concept of Black Friday in a digital and connected age is seeming more and more unneeded as we are able to search and parse for our consoles and games online. Is there any merit to Black Friday shopping, or are we just feeding into the machine of corporate america?

We discuss this and actual ethics in game journalism on this week’s episode of Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Game Glitches Nov 19, 2015

Sometimes games work as they were intended. All the textures load, NPCs are working properly, and the game mechanics aren't broken.

That is the glittering utopia that not even Lara Croft can come across.

This week we covered game glitches and bugs, and why we are more tolerant of their presence depending on the game/publisher. Everyone but Brian had something to say on Fallout 4 and its own highs and lows, because he was too busy playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, which he had a bit to say on.

What do you think is an acceptable amount of glitches in a game? Are there any publishers you give an automatic pass to?

Let us know as you listen to this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Games to Film Nov 17, 2015

This week, we talk about the transition from videogames to movies, and what makes or breaks video game films.

Is it staying to close to the source material, or careening way far away from anything resembling the original concept (we are looking at you Mario Bros.)?

Is it possible to stay true to the heart of a game once it makes the transfer to film?

We ask and answer those questions, as well as geek out over Fallout 4 and Sony announcements. Tune in to get an earful of Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Halo 5: Guardians of the FPS Nov 17, 2015

This week, they guys have gotten their hands on the newest title from 343 Studios, and are giving it the onceover.

They talk over the improvements since the last game, some new mechanics that have helped the gameplay, and how there is still room for improvement. And Brian is still an old man for not getting with the microtransactions program.

What are your thoughts on Halo 5? Did it live up to the hype?

Let us know after you listen to this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Story Time Nov 17, 2015

Do you ever find yourself tempted to tell the parents of a random child that their baby might have a medical problem they weren’t aware of?

Do you find that your retail experiences are less than stellar?

Then perhaps this week’s podcast is for you!

Calibrating Nexus with Gigi Edgley Oct 24, 2015

“Did you ever, all those years ago when you made people watch Farscape that one day you’d be chatting with Chiana?” These were Justin’s words to Josh immediately following their interview with Gigi Edgley. Josh and Justin ditched the other hosts to chat with her about her new crowdfunded film, Nexus.

After their chat, they finally let the other hosts free and resumed the show per usual, and everyone totally didn't get emotional over the new Star Wars trailer.

    Nope.

Totally not feeling super hopeful about this franchise again.

Listen to a great interview, Josh's yearly tirade about The Geekie Awards, and four fanboys going nuts on this week's Constantly Calibrating!

    Calibrating Fall Media 2015 Oct 17, 2015

This week the gang takes a look at the fall TV season and goes off on a multitude of rabbit trails related to TV writing, Internet writing, and the overall landscape of media consumption.

Along with that they talk about their experience with the recent Star Wars Battlefront Beta, highlighting the pros -- true to the source material in sights and sounds -- as well as the cons -- imbalanced teams and spawn points.

We hope you will have as much fun as we did with this week’s Constantly Calibrating! Tune in next week for the unofficial part

Calibrating Taken Things Oct 08, 2015

It’s 2 v 1 this week as Brad takes on Brian and Josh in a discussion of where Destiny went wrong in Year 1 and whether The Taken King is truly worth investing in. We cover “power creep” and DLC in this week’s episode as we try and figure out what changed Brad’s mind about Destiny while the other continue to be stubborn in their ways.

Should games be accessible to all, or only some?

How much is too much for expansions that may or may not add to a game?

Find out in our discussion this week on Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating the Streaming Landscape Oct 02, 2015

This week, Justin and Brian infected the other hosts (no pun intended) so they could talk their hearts out about TwitchCon and the current landscape of streaming.

While Brad and Josh nurse themselves back to health, the other two talked a bit about eSports, copyright flagging, and miraculously they managed to bring up Metal Gear Solid V yet again.

    Truely amazing..

For more of the two stooges, grab an earful of this week's Constantly Calibratin

Calibrating Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain Sep 23, 2015

You thought we were done talking Metal Gear Solid? Ha. You thought wrong

This week the team loses a member, while the rest stick around and talk about The Phantom Pain. Brad tries his best to stay engaged and mostly doesn't fall asleep; we think. Justin also challenged Greg Miller to a Metal Gear-off on cast. So that’s a thing

Before talking MGS, we talk a little about anthologies and collector's editions, as well as theatrical re-releases. All the old things are new again!

Not sure if I missed something in the description or not?

Listen and find out on this week’s Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating 30 Years of Mario Sep 17, 2015

This week the gang reminisces about their shared experiences with the Super Mario franchise over the years as they celebrate 30 years of Mario.

Along with their mustached companion, the guys touched on the ramifications of the upcoming Pokémon GO, hope and pray for Legends of the Hidden Temple to come back on the new 90’s Nickelodeon channel, and Brad and Josh talk a little Starcraft II.

All that and all the rabbit trails and tangents you could ask for on this week's Constantly Calibrating!

    Calibrating GameStop EXPO 2015 Sep 10, 2015

This week, the guys cover Josh’s glorious trip to GameStop EXPO 2015!

What did he see? What did he play? How did he smell?

We may or may have not gotten to all of these questions in hearing about his crazy exploits playing the hottest new games!

Elsewhere in the cast, we talk about pending Star Wars goodness/shenanigans, the life and times of Marty O’Donnell, and gush just a tad more about Metal Gear Solid V.

All this and more on this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Metal PAX Infinity 3.0 Sep 04, 2015

This week, Justin gets excited prematurely in the new entry into the Metal Gear Solid franchise, The Phantom Pain. He then proceeded to get his excitement all over the rest of the guys until he had at least two of them interested. Brad however was more about that Infinity 3.0 life, and is holding it in till next week to explode on the rest of the group.

The guys also debut two new streaming shows, and Josh "gets to go to Gamestop Expo" and "just got done trying Battlefront and oh my isn't it FANTASTIC?", which we will get into more next week!

This and more on this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Totally Planned Topics Aug 26, 2015

This week we totally had a topic planned.

    Like for realsies.

With the lull in summer news and the fact that we all work full time jobs, this week didn't have a topic, which allowed us to delve into many topics instead.

Calibrating Community vs Fandom Aug 20, 2015

This week, ConCal covered Community vs. Fandom. They looked into the void and the void happened to be very amicable. It carried conversation pretty well, and its partner is very nice. The guys might go over for tea sometime.

They asked such daring questions as:

    What makes a good community?

What does a community look like when it goes bad?

Can a community exist without a fandom, and vice versa?

We ask these questions and more on this week’s Constantly Calibrating!

    Calibrating gamescom & RTX 2015 Aug 15, 2015

This week, the gang covers gamesom 2015 in brief, in an effort to bring you the full brunt of their time at Rooster Teeth Expo 2015 -- the second year for ConCal. Brad gets filled in with everything from the media room, we shout out to PWNEE and Twin Stick Radio, and it's possible someone got into a dance fight with peeps from Rocket Jump. Maybe?

All these stories and more on this week’s Constantly Calibrating!

    Calibrating the Mid-summer Lull Aug 01, 2015

This week, the guys pried the script from Brad's hands and threw it out the window! Cabin fever has taken over the control room!

There is no set topic this week, and the crew went crazy in the process. We briefly covered the acoustics of Josh and Justin's old flat together, vamped on our sponsors (Green Man Gaming and No Scope Glasses), and heard the wondrous tale of the infamous "FBI Cruise" of Silverman family vacation lore.

All this craziness and more on this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Undead IPs Jul 23, 2015

Much like Deadpool and Harley Quinn cosplays, there are some franchises and properties that just won't die. The gang tries their best to tackle some of these slippery IPs.

What gives a franchise longevity, even past its originally intended lifespan? Is it that they are just popular enough and endearing enough that there will never be a time without them -- can’t wait till Mighty Morphin Super Ultra Space Ninja Dino-Rangers)? Or are we just so nostalgia-heavy in popular culture that we gloss over the obvious flaws and pitfalls of our childhood faves?

Neither of the latter two questions are answered directly, but are a part of our extended look into the problem with undead IPs.

And if you stick around at the end of the cast, you might find yourself in spoiler-infested waters while we discuss how all of us somehow saw Ant-Man around the same time.

Only on this week’s Constantly Calibrating!

    Calibrating San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Jul 17, 2015

This week, the team bid farewell to one of the most influential persons in gaming culture, Mr. Satoru Iwata. After a brief overview of his accomplishments, and an ill-timed banana joke, they proceed onto San Diego Comic-Con news.

It’s an exciting year this year for nerds. A new Star Wars and a subsequent generation growing up with the series has Josh giddy and emotional, as contrasted with the apparent lack of emotion from Will Smith in the trailer for Suicide Squad. Thankfully the other DC title dropping from SDCC 2015 was the Batman vs. Superman trailer, and damn does it look good! The guys hash out which will be more successful, all the while longing for the sweet release of Deadpool's loving arms (a guy can dream, ok).

You can find all this hubbub and more on this weeks Constantly Calibrating!

    #153 - Calibrating PC Porting Jul 10, 2015

This week, the guys take a look at the Arkham Knight PC kerfuffle, while focusing on a broad look at PC-porting in recent memory.

They talk at length about some of the worst ones, and what makes or breaks a port. Is it the publishing house? Is it the developer? Is it the public?

Find out on this weeks Constantly Calibrating

Calibrating Relationships in Gaming Jul 03, 2015

This week was a doozy as we made do without Josh this week (though he will be back next week), and tried to talk about relationships and sexuality in gaming.

Did we cover it in the full scope and breadth that deserves? Probably not.

But did we find out a lot about ourselves and really in this instance, Troy? Oh yeah.

So buckle in and prepare to have an open mind, heart, and soul for this week’s Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Platform Evolution Jun 26, 2015

This week, Josh was still spending time with this thing he calls 'actual family’, so the rest of the guys decided to launch into a preemptive talk on platformers before their interview with Yacht Club Gaming in 2 weeks!

The focus was on the evolution of the platforming genre over the years, and the progression of its traits, as well as stylistic choices over the years. Brad and Justin argued over whether Battletoads counted as a platformer, and Brian brought up StarTropics yet again (he’s starting to sound like Justin with Metal Gear). They all take a deeper look at the current state of platformers and their ability to blend and work with other play styles and stories, and remarked how the independent sector of gaming has really pushed this genre forward.

What is your favorite platformer? What makes it your favorite?

Let us know as you give a listen to this week's Constantly Calibrating!

    Calibrating E3 2015 Jun 19, 2015

This week, The crew grabs their Pip-Boys and yarn-based companions and embark upon the biggest gaming event of the year, E3 2015!

They discuss whether Nintendo really has to care about these kind of conferences (they don't) and whether Square Enix is still relevant (they aren’t). Brian and Justin get indignant about Xbox backwards compatibility and what should and shouldn't have been offered on day one, and goddamit, everyone keeps taking Josh’s topics!

Let us know what you thought of E3 and what you are most excited for. To hear what we thought, give a listen to this weeks Constantly Calibrating!

Josh, Justin, and Brian dig deep as they predict their hopes and dreams that may or may not come true (“All” we are asking for is a new Mass Effect title, and maybe some Mirror’s Edge).

Will Kojima be trotted out on stage?

Will Nintendo unveil its next console?

Will we have somebody representing ConCal at E3?

Tune in to find out which one of those might be a possibility on this week’s cast, then join us next week to discuss what was unveiled!

Only on the Constantly Calibrating E3 2015 Predictions Show!

Calibrating Con Culture Jun 05, 2015

This week, ConCal goes to Comicon!

Josh and Brian also talk about their time at Phoenix Comicon, and Justin may or may not still be playing Witcher 3. We should probably go check on him...

Join us for this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating the Mobile Dilemma May 29, 2015

This week the guys are back at it again, playing and talking about those silly handheld games.

No. Not the Vita (shut up Justin).

No. Not the DS (shut up Brad and Josh).

Brian. Just put the PSP away.

The crew talks about their selection of mobile games and what drives them to play or not play. They also get into a great discussion on the demonization of mobile gaming by the gaming community. So strap in for more fun than a stack of candy, angry aviaries, or Russian building blocks!

Join us on this weeks Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Gaming Soundscapes May 22, 2015

This week, Brad leads Justin and Brian along in a rousing discussion of our favorite and not-so-favorite video game music. They try and figure out what exactly makes a soundtrack memorable/nostalgic, what they dislike in gaming soundtracks, and Justin tries to figure out how exactly to say Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's name correctly.

Find this out and more on this weeks episode of Constantly Calibrating!

If we missed an important soundtrack, or you think we are completely crazy with our reasoning, let us know! If you liked it, tell your friends about it!

Calibrating the Star Wars Sickness May 06, 2015

This week, the guys support Brad's sickness induced topic of wondering why Star Wars is so dang popular, and when we all got into it. Josh gripes about the actual date of Star Wars Day (May 25th for all of you following along at home), and Brian & Justin become a new powerhouse for film ideas, or at least opening credits (call us Disney!). For more shenanigans, listen to this weeks Constantly Calibrating!

The 2014 ConCal Entertainment Awards Nominations Dec 17, 2014

It's that time of the year again, a time when every podcast in the land puts together their end of the year "Best of _____" lists. We here at Constantly Calibrating are no different, having invented the concept of the award show 1,100 years ago. (Look it up in any textbook printed in Josh's basement*.)

This year we're changing things up from prior years, opting to do "Game of the Year", "Film of the Year", and "TV Show of the Year" awards; with this week focusing on discussing the nominees. Comic Story Arc, as mentioned during this show, was cut during recording for several reasons. Join us and let us know your own thoughts in the comments, then tune back in next week for winners!

On the news side of things, we look at the inaugural Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest, talk Sony & Marvel's Spider-Man web fluid filled dick measuring contest, and guffaw about Grand Theft Auto V Online's heist gameplay trailer.

Calibrating The Game Awards & PlayStation Experience Dec 10, 2014

What defines a fictional universe? How do we fall in love with them and what makes us dream of moving into them? These are the questions we loosely address as we look at the universes Josh, Justin, and Brian would most like to live in, if given the option.

Yes, Josh points out Mass Effect; don't be shocked.

Calibrating Lindsay Jones, Barbara Dunkelman, & Arryn Zech Oct 29, 2014

This week on Constantly Calibrating Justin and I had the immense pleasure of chatting with Lindsay Jones (Ruby Rose), Barbara Dunkelman (Yang Xiao Long), and Arryn Zech (Blake Belladonna) of RWBY & general Rooster Teeth fame. Dammit Brad, the name is Lobot!

Our team takes a look at all of this, plus makes predictions on the future.

We also delve into the future of the genre, wondering what innovations need to be made, including thoughts on the upcoming Everquest Next. (There may also be some MMO nostalgia for Everquest & Star Wars Galaxies thrown into the mix.)

Before that, we hype up this weekend's Issue Zero, tiptoe around the recent Star Wars leaks, and ponder why Warner Bros. have decided to ejaculate movies all over the next 6 years.

Calibrating Kerry Shawcross & Miles Luna Oct 09, 2014

This week we had the distinct pleasure of featuring Kerry Shawcross & Miles Luna of Rooster Teeth on the show. In addition, today also coincides with the one-year anniversary of the last time I interviewed them both together; I swear this is 100% a coincidence.

During the interview we discuss Red vs Blue season 12, the on-going volume 2 of RWBY, listen to an angry Jaune Arc voiceover, and discuss balls. Essentially a standard interview experience with Kerry & Miles.

Prior to the interview we look into more space travel news, plus we promote the Kickstarter for Women vs Cosplay!

Calibrating Technological Dependency Oct 01, 2014

As society develops, we become more and more reliant on the assorted tech surrounding us at any given time. This idea crystallized for Constantly Calibrating host Josh this past weekend, when a major Internet & TV outage caused him to reevaluate his entire life; no joke. As such, this week Team ConCal addresses the growing concern of our reliance on various technologies on a day to day basis.

In news we talk Tetris and money guns, because why not be a bit potentially hypocritical, right?

Calibrating Online Impact with Aris Juson Sep 24, 2014

    LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE!

Sorry, excitement got the better of me today. Seriously, listen to this episode immediately to hear an outstanding conversation between Josh, Brad, Justin, and guest Aris Juson. In addition we address the Microsoft buyout of Minecraft developer Mojang and the latest Star Wars rumors.

Calibrating (Mostly) Every Simpsons Ever Sep 10, 2014

Over the last 25+ years, The Simpsons has formed a cultural identity nearly incapable of being rivaled. Regardless of which era you love the most (seasons 2 through 12 in my case), The Simpsons is wrapped tightly into our collective psyche. That's why on this episode of Constantly Calibrating we decided to delve into our favorite video games, episode, and even characters from the long-running series.

Before that you'll of course find some news on our recent Microsoft Store excursion, Microsoft buying Mojang?, the anniversary of the Dreamcast, and new news out of Apple.

Calibrating the Missing Host Conundrum Sep 05, 2014

Josh has gone missing, but filling in for him this week is Brad who rises to power like a fiery phoenix of hostitude.

On the show the trio discusses the new Nintendo 3DS and what we know of it so far, Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, new Games with Gold for September, and resurrect the long forgotten "Current Affairs" segment from yesteryear of Constantly Calibrating.

That plus some thoughts on the recent iCloud issues, pathetically called "The Fappening" on the Internet, on this week's podcast!

Calibrating Guilty Pleasures Aug 27, 2014

This week's topic is "Guilty Pleasures in Entertainment". Josh, Brad, Justin, & Brian discuss what makes a guilty pleasure, and why people shouldn't feel guilty about them. Things then shift into discussing our own guilty pleasures and why we're so infatuated with them.

We also delve into the Amazon/Twitch.TV deal and what it means for streamers, Dragon Age Inquisitionmultiplayer, a Pokemon fighting game, and Mario Kart DLC! Plus, is Full House getting a sequel show?

    Calibrating Geekies 2014 Aug 21, 2014

Constantly Calibrating this week delves into the world of geek culture and what that means to us. This of course is focused mostly on this year's Geekie Awards, which Josh attended and felt was a complete let-down. Find out why in this episode.

Prior to that we take a look at why Josh is cancelling his The Sims 4 pre-order, get informed on Warlords of Draenor, ponder Star Wars on blu-ray, and prepare our anuses for The Simpsons marathon.

Calibrating Men vs Cosplay Aug 15, 2014

Here is this week's originally planned episode of Constantly Calibrating, which is being released in addition to our Robin Williams Tribute show for the low, low price of nothing!

Calibrating Our Lives with Robin Williams Aug 13, 2014

With the tragic news of the passing of Robin Williams this week, we at Constantly Calibrating found an intense need to talk about the man and the effect he had on our lives. At this point I'm sure most everyone is absolutely inundated with memorials to the fallen comedian, which means you may not want to listen to this.

However, I implore you to give our episode a shot, as it truly means the world to me and may be one of the most important (certainly most heartfelt) episode we've done to date. I know some extremely personal things are discussed during this show, which some among you may need to hear.

Our love and support go out to Robin Williams family, friends, and fans.

    "Nanu Nanu."

Calibrating For Beta or Worse Jul 30, 2014

For this week's casting of the pods, we discuss experiences with beta testing in a post-Destiny beta world. We also take a look at EA Access, The Last of Us: One Night Only, and recap San Diego Comic-Con 2014, including thoughts on Dawn of Justice, Deadpool, Evil Dead, Halo Nightfall, and more!

Note: Due to some upload issues, we had to experiment with putting out a lower sound quality podcast this week. It sounds fine to us, but if it's in any way bothersome, please let us know.

Calibrating Our Childhood Through Film Jul 23, 2014

We all have those movies from our childhood that changed us, shaped us into who we are now. Calibrating Smoldering Flame Cosplay Jul 16, 2014

We're still in the post-RTX afterglow, so forgive us for some structural instability issues on this week's podcast. While you're forgiving us, make sure to also drop a thank you in the comments for getting the outstanding Niki Birkedahl, better know as Smoldering Flame Cosplay to some of you, on the podcast.

We had a great time talking about recent news, such as Weird Al being back at work, BioWare requesting Mass Effect feedback, and some Blizzcon news. This was of course followed up with an interview on Niki's life as it pertains to cosplay.

Honestly, we completely ran out of time with her at the end of the show, so definitely look for her to be coming back sometime in the not terribly distant future.

The Constantly Calibrating RTX 2014 Special Jul 09, 2014

Written words are incapable of expressing the emotion I (Josh) am personally going through after a long weekend at RTX. Therefore I submit to you the following podcast wherein Justin, Brian, & I regale Brad (who couldn't attend) with tales of the Rooster Teeth Expo.

These stories include anecdotes & commentary on Miles Luna, RWBY, The Guardians, Burnie Burns, Greg Miller of IGN, Matt Hullum, Monty Oum, Kathleen Zuelch, Geoff Ramsey, frelling PWNEE Studios (creators of Cloudberry Kingdom), and much, much more.

Also, our thanks to Lucas Iosue (Hommsar on SoundCloud) for supplying our new, official theme song.

Calibrating Leading Into RTX 2014 Jul 03, 2014

On this week's podcast we change things up a bit, as Smoldering Flame Cosplay had a last-minute computer explosion and was not able to make the show. Never fear, as we allowed Brian to come back from his brief exile to help us discuss Dungeon Keeper Mobile, Waterslides, the return of Cliff Bleszinski, the ethics of ejaculating into a robot, World of Warcraft, and more!

That plus a special, personal announcement from Josh and some thoughts on the Steam Summer Sale and RTX 2014!

On this week's episode we delve into thoughts on why we think the Wii U was a wise/solid investment, as well as the perks of having the system. The group also looks to the future as to what games are of most interest to us.

Prior to that we ponder the recent Star Wars director announcements and listen to why Brian wants to be the first "man" on Mars.

Calibrating Crossmedium Adaptation Jun 18, 2014

When is it justified to change the source material when adapting a piece of media to a different medium? In recent memory there has been sweeping changes to Game of Thrones, based on the George R. R. Martin book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Prior to that we've all seen changes that have altered entities like Harry Potter, Super Mario Bros., and Watchmen, so I'm sure we all have experience with the concept.

In addition, during the news segment we discuss Nordic going full THQ, trouble in the land of Minecraft, The Legend of Zelda, and more!

    Calibrating E3 2014 Jun 13, 2014

Today we're featuring a special, end-week episode of Constantly Calibrating so that we can recap all the wonders that we were beholden to at E3 this week.

Calibrating 100 Episodes Down, Many More To Go Jun 11, 2014

There may also be some goats involved.

Calibrating The Overhyping of Media May 28, 2014

When trying to stand out in a oversaturated marketplace, the only thing sometimes separating one person's (or company's) product from another is hype. The question is, when does hyping something up betray the product/media at hand?

This is the question we hope to discuss and maybe shed light on for this week's episode of Constantly Calibrating.

Also, some news on the Ant-Man film, Daredevil on Netflix, Nintendo's next dick move, and...suspended animation being a reality.

    Calibrating Bat-Facts and Nedopak May 21, 2014

This week on Constantly Calibrating we're featuring an interview with Kristen Nedopak, creator of The Geekie Awards. Prior to that we also discuss thoughts on Batman's design for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the potential YouTube buyout of Twitch.

Calibrating Gender Choice in Gaming May 14, 2014

On today's episode we were joined by Nichole Nance (Itty Bitty Geek) to try and answer the question "Is lack of gender choice a legitimate reason to not play a game?"

Let us know your own thoughts in whatever comment area you find this podcast.

Calibrating the Average Life Expectancy of a Gungan May 07, 2014

Our dynamic trio is back together again after a series of vacations & other shenanigans. This week, Josh, Brad, & Justin look at some recent news before moving onto our main topic: Star Wars.

This past weekend was Star Wars Day (or May the 4th) and Josh felt it was time to come clean on his hatred of this yearly event. Beyond that, we talk about the death of the old expanded universe in Star Wars and where we hope it goes to now, plus ideas about the recent casting announcements for Episode VII.

Check it out, as this is probably the best episode we've put out to date!

Calibrating Mics and Changes Apr 30, 2014

Josh and Justin are out this week! So Brian and Brad team up together for the first time to bring you updated news about Constantly Calibrating, the slow death of retail, and DC's inevitable rank behind Marvel's cinematic universe.

Brad is on Twitch, Brian is on Mac (to the other host's chagrin), and Joshua is in Disneyland on this episode of:

    Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Game Boy at 25 Apr 23, 2014

The Game Boy is 25 years old this week, which means that Brad & Josh are feeling particularly nostalgic and depressed about aging. This week's trio discusses memories of the system, as well as our lives with it.

There's also some news on both a Farscape film (which has Josh understandably excited) & a return of Humongous Entertainment (which has Josh confusingly excited).

    Calibrating Secondary In-Jokes Apr 16, 2014

This week on Constantly Calibrating, we discuss some thoughts on this past weekend's PAX East event, including what excited us the most. From there we ponder what are the best and worst examples of Nerdy In-Jokes in pop culture, before heading into our main discussion on our favorite (and least favorite) secondary characters in gaming.

Calibrating Botting & Powerleveling in Online Gaming Apr 09, 2014

It's episode 91 of Constantly Calibrating, which means it's time for change to our usual format! We're now working with a far more structured system than before, and personally I (Josh) think it's outstanding!

This week we discuss Marvel's Cinematic Universe being planned out til 2028 & news that Microsoft may pursue Xbox 360 emulation on the Xbox One.

Finally, this week we're launching (planned) monthly debates on the podcast. This month's debate is about the morality of botting, powerleveling, and other potential cheating in online gaming. Drop us a comment if you have your own thoughts on the subject that you would like to share.

Also, let us know what you think of the new format!

    Calibrating Inappropriate Sign-Offs Mar 19, 2014

Episode 88 of Constantly Calibrating features another trip to the world of Blizzard Entertainment, as Brad details recent news happening at the highly revered company. We also discuss changes coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic, namely the new housing project being introduced to the MMO. That may or may not have lead to a trip down memory lane as it pertains to Star Wars Galaxies as well, so take a listen if you're curious.

That and more, this week on ConCal!

Calibrating Who is Doctor Xzibit? Mar 12, 2014

On this week's Constantly Calibrating we ponder the rumors of Peter Capaldi only being on Doctor Who for one series, much like predecessor Christopher Eccleston. Who could possibly take over for him, should the BBC decide to go through with their rumored "radical change" for the long-running show.

In addition we chat about World of Warcraft's next expansion Warlords of Draenor, thoughts on Arrow and its own rumor-mill, plus at the age of 29-years-old (nearly), I, Joshua Silverman, have learned to ride a bike!

Calibrating The 86th Title Card Mar 05, 2014

It took 86 episodes before Josh's brain finally broke, rendering him incapable of coming up with a proper joke title. Oh well, that's life.

On this week's episode, Brad, Josh, and Justin discuss what they've been playing the last week, rumors of a Mass Effect Trilogy re-release, Batman Arkham Knights unveiling, and finish it off with a whole bunch of South Park: The Stick of Truth gentle spoiler filled discussion.

Calibrating Crossing the Streams One Last Time Feb 26, 2014

Head injuries on occasion lead to a more entertaining podcast. This may in fact be one of those cases.

On this week's episode we look at news for the Amazing Spider-Man film series from Sony Pictures, a potential film about the 90's console war between Sega & Nintendo, the closure of Irrational Games, and plenty of tangents along gaming topics and beyond.

We also say goodbye to the brilliant comedic genius Harold Ramis, in what was one of the most difficult ending conversations we've yet to have on ConCal.

Calibrating Guardians of the Titanfall Feb 20, 2014

Do you like it when a 2-man team from a traditionally 3-man team gaming podcast discuss things primarily not in the realm of gaming? Then you're in luck, as Josh & Brad delve into shows like Arrow & Agents of Shield, as well as the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer.

There are also gaming discussions in the form of The Wolf Among Us Episode 2, Fable Anniversary, and some potentially shocking thoughts on Titanfall with its recent beta. Give it a listen, as we have a feeling you'll enjoy it!

Calibrating The Fable of Aunt Gertrude Feb 12, 2014

For this week's journey down the auditory rabbit hole we take an in-depth look at both Fable Anniversary, as well as some more thoughts on Everquest Next Landmark. Better get used to hearing about the latter game, as we're quite fond of it and it will likely come up fairly regularly.

In addition, we talk about rumors swirling about Lex Luthor's appearance in Batman vs. Superman vs. Batman and a Side of Taquitos; plus a whole lot of other stuff.

Calibrating Teenage Mutant Landmark Alphas Feb 05, 2014

Everquest Next Landmark's Alpha is upon us, and it is good! On this week's episode Brad & Josh discuss their thoughts after 48 hours in the game's semi-tumultuous alpha experience. With the help of Justin, discussions then swing over to thoughts on what can be done to fix Star Wars The Old Republic, and is it possible that Star Wars Galaxies may make its triumphant return?

That, plus prior discussions on changes to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Amazing Spider-Man 2's latest trailers, and more on ConCal!

Calibrating Springtime for Gaming Jan 30, 2014

Spring is fast approaching from within the wintery hell most of us find ourselves in, which means it's time for our annual Springtime Gaming Showcase (name pending). This week we showcase 9 (or more) of our most anticipated games releasing through June of this year; games such as Titanfall, Fable Anniversary, Watch_Dogs, WildStar, Final Fantasy X/X-2, and much more.

In addition to that, we ask a question that's on many minds this week: what's up with Epic? The much beloved gaming & engine developer recently sold their Gears of War franchise to Microsoft, which leaves the question of what else are they developing currently.

We discuss all of that, this week on Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating The Saga of C4NDY Banner Crush Jan 22, 2014

Begun the [REDACTED] Crush [REDACTED] has...

On this week's episode, Brad rants about some odd legal decisions on the part of King, developers of the popular Candy Crush Saga; we take a look at Nintendo's losses due to the Wii U and how they can fix it; ponder about what Blizzard's pre-order bonuses for Warlords of Draneor may entail for the industry; and venture guesses at why we need to use 13GB of storage space on our Xbox One's just to play Dead Rising 3.

That and varying degrees of additional information on this week's Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Random Questions About Sean Connery Jan 15, 2014

What is a gaming themed podcast without gaming discussions? Well, you're about to find out!

On this week's episode our intrepid team discusses casting news for Marvel's Ant-Man, thoughts on the future of the Amazing Spider-Man movie series, and why Sean Connery should be a super hero. That plus a late game rant against SimCity (progress) and much more!

Calibrating Double Dick Dilemma Jan 09, 2014

You ever have one of those nights where you think to yourself, "Why did I name my podcast after the act of fixing something? Won't the universe feel like I'm taunting it, making it difficult to record?" If so, then we have much to discuss.

This week on ConCal out dynamic trio ran afoul of a non-recording recording program, which led to 45 minutes of lost audio. Never fear, as the episode is still a glorious discussion of Steam sales, Steam Boxes, a man with two dicks, and a wonderful Peter Molyneux improv routine.

    You've been warned.

Calibrating GNN Gaming Awards '13 Dec 20, 2013

We at Constantly Calibrating are bidding adieu to 2013 with a fun-filled podcast focusing on the 2nd Annual GNN Gaming Awards! The podcast may be longer than usual, but it's highly entertaining with our special guest Nichole Nance (Itty Bitty Geek). We chat about each of the winners, go on tangents, and then I have some announcements for the ConCal as we end this year.

If you would like to see a list of the winners for this year, check this link: (http://bit.ly/1bgouqU)

Calibrating Clocks (Or The Xbox One) Dec 10, 2013

6 days late is better than nothing, right? Technical issues the likes of which we have never seen before plagued the Constantly Calibrating Virtual Studio last week, causing us to miss out on posting a plethora of content to you, our loyal audience. As such, we'll be bringing forth additional videos and a new contest, starting tomorrow (Wednesday).

Justin gives us an insight into the PlayStation 4, in regards to his thoughts and experiences with it over the launch weekend. Finally, we take a look at our history with the Xbox 360, primarily through the lens of our achievements and past glories on the system.

Make sure that you head on over to GeekNewsNetwork.net and/or ConstantlyCalibrating.com to check out our two contests related to this episode!

Calibrating The Orc-arina of Time (BlizzCon '13) Nov 13, 2013

Episode 73, originally conceived as a purely BlizzCon 2013 recap episode, quickly grew as our podcast hosts were faced with additional newstories from the prior weekend. What tales do BioWare have in store for us, as depicted in their annual tradition of N7 Day? Are the newly announced Founders Packs for Everquest Next Landmark worth your hard-earned money? These are the questions we tackle before heading into this past weekend's highly anticipated event.

That event being the aformentioned BlizzCon, wherein a new expansion for World of Warcraft was announced; more details released on the long-awaited World of Warcraft film; and information released on the highly anticipated MOBA-stlyed game, Heroes of the Storm. What info will we have for you? How excited will Brad and Josh get over this news? How little interest will Justin show?

Find out that and more on this week's episode of Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Predicting Resolutions Nov 07, 2013

This week on Constantly Calibrating we semi review WWE 2K14, take a look at what Brad got right with his BlizzCon 2013 predictions, question the logic of some decisions in gaming, and go on an impromptu discussion on comic books.

Calibrating Vamp Dammit, Vamp! Oct 30, 2013

For episode 71 of Constantly Calibrating, we decided it would be a good idea to just go completely off the rails again. Well, it wasn't so much a decision as an eventuality.

This week we touch on some thoughts on Batman: Arkham Origins, take a look at the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Trailer, and say goodbye to our favorite 4th grade teacher.

Calibrating Two Weeks in Kalos Oct 23, 2013

There's nothing wrong with posting half an episode a day late, right? Well, I sure hope not, because that's what's happening with our 70th episode. Also on this episode: Pokemon! That's right, due to a technical error, we lost all of the non-Pokemon discussion from this week's episode. There's nothing wrong with discussing said Pokemon stuff, so I hope you all enjoy it!

    Calibrating Mickey's Prostate Exam Oct 15, 2013

This week on Constantly Calibrating, we brought in special guest Ryan Firster to join us on the show. Make sure to check the "Tingle Pot" for a link to one of Ryan's recent sets.

The topics this week include Pokemon X & Y, the announcement of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX, my 10-year high school reunion and its significance to ConCal, and some thoughts on the launch of our own YouTube gaming channel!

The description may be short and quasi-bland, but the episode certainly is not! Give it a listen and make sure to comment and subscribe!

Calibrating The Floaty Navel Oct 08, 2013

Episode 68 of Constantly Calibrating brings us a completely out of context opening story out of Grand Theft Auto Online, book-ended with an announcement related to GTA Online — stick around til the end for that one!

In addition we bring you thoughts on the World of Warcraft film, which just had a release date announced. Where do we hope and expect the story to take us? Can a WoW film even be done in a way that is remotely satisfactory?

Our final topic of the cast relates to SimCity, ever the focus of anger in the land of ConCal. What has Electronic Arts done this time to earn our ire? Find out by listening below!

Calibrating The Hot Steamer Oct 01, 2013

We preempt this podcast description to let you know that the host of Constantly Calibrating, who is currently writing this post, is currently on a great deal of cold medicine. This may affect the logical progression of how an introductiory post to a podcast should flow.

This week's Constantly Calibrating features some Grand Theft Auto Online expectations, as well as an announcement from ConCal related to the game. We also have some thoughts on SteamOS, Steam Machines, and the Steam Controller. There may also be additional thoughts on this year's closure of LucasArts, so make sure to listen for that!

Calibrating Grand Theft Phlegm Sep 24, 2013

The big one has released! That's right, Grand Theft Auto V has been unleashed upon the masses and it is good. How good you may be asking -- assuming you're not playing it that is. Well, first off you should check out my review, but then you can go and listen to this podcast for three viewpoints on all the cool and random stuff we've seen.

Before we get to GTA V however, we do have some news related to Valve's SteamOS...and news related to GTA Online. Yes, it's a GTA heavy episode, which you should accept seeing as the game has been out for only a week now.

    Calibrating WTFAYNPGTAV Sep 17, 2013

    Now THIS is a podcast!

Though seriously, WTFAYNPGTAV people?! Anyways, we do appreciate you taking the time to listen, as this is arguably the best podcast we have put out to date. Justin joins Brad and I to discuss topics ranging from our Current Affairs, World of Warcraft and Brad's thoughts on improving the game, my own thoughts on the GODUS beta, Doctor Who news, and assorted stories from all of us.

Seriously, if you listen to one episode of ConCal, this is the one! Then keep listening after that, dammit!

Calibrating Dead Hamsters Sep 10, 2013

This week Brad and I had the distinct pleasure of chatting with Matthew Allen, the Community Manager for 22Cans, Community Manager for The Dead Hamster, and Community Contact for Lionhead Studios. For the last couple of months Brad and I have discussed the importance of what goes into making a successful game; the topic almost always falling back to how a company embraces the community. After months of discussing this, it seemed time to bring someone on to explain to us what goes into the process, and how he found himself in that career.

It's not all community relations topics though, as we pick Matthew's brain about his thoughts on companies like 22Cans and Lionhead Studios, as well as what he thinks is going on with both current and next-gen gaming.

It's a long one (so to speak), so strap yourself in (seriously, so to speak) and get ready to listen to some fun conversations on gaming.

Calibrating GameStop EXPO Sep 03, 2013

On this week's episode of Constantly Calibrating, Brad and Josh take you down the rabbit hole of gaming news in a jumbo-ultra-mega-sized edition of Constantly Calibrating. In actuality it's only an additional 30 minutes, but how often does one get to use jumbo-ultra-mega-sized in polite conversation?

This week we discuss the 2DS, Wii U Price Drop, the concept of subscription models, and Xbox One news. Also, there is super excitement about Dragon Age Keep, as it answers a question Josh had asked early in the summer. Finally, there are tales a plenty as Josh regales Brad (and you) with experiences at the GameStop EXPO last week. Find out his thoughts on the Xbox One, PS4, and more in this week's episode!

Calibrating Whomever Was the Bomb in Phantoms, yo! Aug 27, 2013

This past weekend the world was torn asunder when the most devastating news imaginable was unleashed upon them: Ben Affleck will be playing Bruce Wayne...Batman! Nations crumbled upon the weight of this most heinous act, but alas there is a bright spot as we, your favorite podcast hosts, discuss our thoughts on Ben Affleck as Batman, and what the future of the DC Cinematic Universe might hold.

Stick around as well for thoughts on Saints Row 4, Diablo 3's recently announced expansion, Grand Theft Auto Online's character creator, and more!

Calibrating Controversy in Communities & An Ode to Geek Culture Aug 20, 2013

This week's episode of Constantly Calibrating is built upon the back of stories from the world of gaming and geekdom. We sail through the realm of The Geekie Awards, stopping off in ports of Grand Theft Auto Online, Fable Legends, Brad also takes us on a journey through the Hearthstone beta, and many thoughts on assorted controversies in the world of gaming. This episode takes on a more serious tone than other episode, as we delve deep into our thoughts on why people get off on threatening others online; something that in no way benefits the perpetrator.

Calibrating Uncromulent Cats Aug 13, 2013

This week some things were discussed. Some rambling also took place.

What? You're looking for specifics? Well, if you must know, we discussed the recent Doctor Who 50th Anniversary trailer (which can be found on GNNAZ.com), some more Everquest Next, Kinect and Xbox One potential woes, GameStop's interesting "deals", and my furry feline predicament. What might that be? Well, you should listen to find out!

Calibrating Unveiling the Hovercar Aug 06, 2013

    We're back!

After a week off, wandering the wilds of the Internet, we have returned to discuss the two major pieces of news for this week: the unveiling of the Twelfth Doctor & Sony Online Entertainment's new MMO, Everquest Next. We of course go on tangents leading in random directions, because that is who we are as podcasting people, but the topics list was quite small for this week; yet quite large when you consider the topics at hand.

Listen to us, and friend of the podcast Dylan Smoak discuss these topics in as much depth as we're capable of. Spoiler Alert: We didn't even cover half of the topics available for Everquest Next & Landmark, so expect more discussions of it in the future.

Calibrating San Diego Tangent Con Jul 23, 2013

ConCal is brand new this week; being recorded from a brand new location. New locations of course entail plenty of rants, rambles, and tangents on topics relating to everything from interior design to new house woes to how to properly keep your bees. This of course is not a home improvement show, so don't expect too much of that. What we do have is plenty of discussions about actively played games and events from this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con.

Superman, Batman, The Avengers, and plenty more are on the docket this week, so stick around and listen!

Calibrating Grand Theft Deadpool Jul 17, 2013

It's contest time for ConCal, which means you should head over to Geek News Network (www.GNNAZ.com) to find out how to enter!

On this week's episode Brad and I discussed our thought's on Deadpool's first starring role in a video game, before transitioning along a journey leading through Grand Theft Auto V, the Steam Summer Sale, WoW getting a cash shop, and our thoughts on why Internet cafes never caught on in the US.

Calibrating The Last of Us Jul 09, 2013

The time has come, one month later for us to finally do our long hyped The Last of Us spoilercast. Now to explain a spoilercast, for anyone that missed the BioShock Infinite one from a few months back, essentially we talk about the game and don't pull any punches. (Let's be fair, you know what a spoilercast is.)

What were our thoughts on the gameplay of The Last of Us? Did the mechanics make sense with the story? How about that ending? Which characters were the most impactful?

These and possibly more questions will be addressed on this week's ConCal!

Calibrating Ewok Balloon Party Jul 02, 2013

It is a time for discussions and pondering as we reach episode 55 of ConCal.

This week is not the previously announced The Last of Us spoilercast, as that had to be delayed by a week. Fear not! Brad and I spent this episode discussing many things, both enlightening and illuminating. Join us as we take a look into the departure of Don Mattrick from Xbox, the addition of balloons to the haphazardly released SimCity, and a new race venturing into the companion slot in Star Wars; The Old Republic.

If this is not enough to peak your interests, then I also offer you two tales of meeting people I wanted to be as a child. There may also be some ramble, as is expected when one is on Constantly Calibrating.

Calibrating Zombie Ninja Ponies Jun 25, 2013

Episode 54 of Constantly Calibrating takes us on a tour of what it means to be a turtle, a ninja turtle in fact. We take some odd detours through a land of ponies, before strolling our way out of a series of zombie nightmares as well. Sounds like a lovely day in podcasting, right?

    Calibrating E3 2013 Jun 21, 2013

Constantly Calibrating is here with our E3 2013 round-up episode. Joining us for this episode is Nichole Nance (@IttyBittyGeek).

Calibrating Phoenix Comicon May 29, 2013

Phoenix Comicon has come and gone, and with its end we're left with many questions:

Who are we? What do we want? Where are we going?

Well, those questions may actually stem from the Babylon 5 20th Anniversary Reunion Panel, which was one of the highlights of my weekend, and perhaps my life to date.

We were actually left with questions of how did this weekend turn into such a complete clusterfrell for most of us? Why did nothing seem to go right at any point? What are we going to do about this?

Phoenix Comicon was not a terrible experience by any means, but the event was less than lackluster at the best of times. Panels were a confusing array of "what's actually happening right now?" and "will this guest actually be in attendance?"

Join myself, and special guests Charnell Silverman, Brian McDaniel, & Brent Hankins (NerdRep.com) for this hour-long look at Phoenix Comicon '13!

Calibrating Xbox Reveal May 21, 2013

It's time for this week's Constantly Calibrating episode, "Calibrating Xbox Reveal". The runner-up for episode name is of course "Calibrating MocapDog".

The Xbox One was announced today and with it came a lot of press over what Microsoft did, or in this case did not, do right with the system's debut. Some may argue a lack of actual gaming hurt the launch. Others might praise the concept of their new "snap point" system. There's also our own questions of what's the deal with compatibility with Xbox Live Arcade games, or the crummy hard drive space.

There's also the question about why Microsoft hasn't paid us for the brilliant achievement points vs. challenge points vs. title system that needs to be implemented.

    Calibrating RoboSexuality May 15, 2013

Electronic Arts and Star Wars are where it's at with this week's episode of Constantly Calibrating. We take a look at EA's deal to exclusively make new games in the beloved franchise, as well as what this might mean for properties both new and old.

We continue to chat about new things happening in Star Wars: The Old Republic, including plans for the new feline race that was added to the game yesterday. On top of that, Brad's wife chimes in with a pitch for a Star Wars-centric The Sims expansion that sounds positively delightful.

That, plus some discussions of the upcoming Xbox Infinity announcement.

Calibrating Raychul Moore II May 07, 2013

Gaming Goddess Raychul Moore is back this week for her long anticipated second date with the lovely gentleman of Constantly Calibrating. You may remember our interview with her from last year; we had hoped she had forgotten it. This time, things went smoothly as we discussed the missteps of the upcoming next generation consoles, including the already released Wii U.

We delve into the world of cosplay, exploring our thoughts on "Cosplay=/=Consent", a topic at the forefront of nerd/geek consciousness in the ever-growing convention season.

Raychul also gives us, as well as you all, a helpful tip for San Diego Comic-Con and how to properly attend: Don't!

That and a reasonable chance of a lot more on this week's episode of Constantly Calibrating!

Calbrating The Sum of Two Parts Apr 30, 2013

Welcome to Episode 48 of Constantly Calibrating, wherein I am not home to make sure this is posting correctly.

    Yay!

On this week's episode we conclude or two-part, but not quite two-part focus episode on BioShock Infinite, which happens to begin with a different topic each time. Confusing, I know. What's even more confusing is how poorly my song choice for this week transitions into the episode. Oh well, I'm rushing to get ready for a trip and not thinking all too clearly.

This week is all about Star Wars: The Old Republic and BioShock Infinite. For one, we discuss returning and whether we like what we've found; the other we look deep into our spoilery crystal balls to see what we think of what is arguably the best game of this new year. (Not up for arguement however is the winner of "Best Character of the Year".)

That's this week of Constantly Calibrating, so we hope you enjoy!

Calibrating A Podcast In Two Parts Apr 23, 2013

This week Constantly Calibrating was split up into two parts, for both convenience and other reasons.

This week's episode takes Steven and Josh on a journey around Disneyland and other similar parks, ending in another world of magic, merriment and make believe: Columbia. Yes, the BioShock Infinite city in the sky gets some gameplay and limited spoiler discussions.

Check back next week when Brad and Josh take a more in-depth look at the world of BioShock Infinite, as well as some chatting about Star Wars The Old Republic.

Calibrating LucasArts, Identity Fraud, and What it is to Tequila! Apr 09, 2013

Episode 46 of ConCal began as a planned tale of the loss of LucasArts, then quickly devolved into what most of our podcasts turn into: Sex and identity fraud. Well, we did discuss LucasArts as well for a whole 25 or so minutes, but the lead up is just all over the map.

There may even be a new contest on the horizon! (There is, but not the one discussed on this episode.)

Calibrating Science Fools Apr 02, 2013

Happy April Fools Day to you all...yesterday! This is episode 45 of Constantly Calibrating and we are discussing very few things related to gaming this week. Fancy that!

On this week's episode there is a whole lot of April Fools joke discussions, sadly none of which pertained to my idea of cannibalizing our fans into a really tiny zombie mech. (Budget cuts.) We did however discuss some Doctor Who and science-related things.

That and a whole lot less on this week's episode!

Calibrating The Pickling Process Mar 27, 2013

A day late and a pickle short.

    Or something.

This is episode 44 and we talk about a lot of things this week. Explanations of last week's delay coincide with discussions of Final Fantasy X/X-2 and where a remastering of Final Fantasy VII is. A look at this past weekend's drug-filled extravaganza, The Croods, meets head-on with some Doctor Who news.

That and less, or probably more on this week's episode!

Make sure to check out this post on our website (http://constantlycalibrating.com/2013/03/27/calibrating-the-pickling-process/) to enter our avatar code giveaway!

    Calibrating Timing Mar 24, 2013

This week's podcast is immensely late, as I'm sure you've all noticed. I'll discuss what's been going on in this Tuesday's episode, #44. Do to major time constraints I'll just be putting the episode up as is without introduction or theme. My apologies for this drop in quality.

Check the link dump for more info on what we talked about this week.

Calibrating 42 Times Around the Citadel Mar 14, 2013

Welcome to part 2 of our one-year anniversary episode of Constantly Calibrating!

On this episode we get Brad committed to joining us for RTX 2013, while he's simultaneously attempting to get me into StarCraft II.

Spoiler: It worked. Brad and I are planning to stream some "Noob vs. Lesser-Noob: The Battle of StarCraft Incompetence Begins!" Friday. We'll have more details here and/or on FB fan page when the plans are set.

Finally, Steven and I have a rapid-fire discussion of Mass Effect 3's final DLC Citadel in honor of our first every episode.

Thank you for a year of awesome memories. Here's to another year!

Calibrating The SimCity Debacle Mar 13, 2013

Welcome to the two-part one-year anniversary edition of Constantly Calibrating! It has been one hell of a year and one hell of a learning experience doing this podcast. I can't say this enough to all of you, but thank you for the love and support since we started this whole...whatever it is!

On this podcast we go all over the map, discussing the clusterfuck that was the SimCity launch as well as our history as a podcast/site.

Check back on Thursday for part two of this podcast!

    Calibrating Pre-Anniversary Jitters Mar 06, 2013

Our little ol' podcast has hit the big 4-0! Fancy that. Well, we're within sight of our one-year anniversary, which means that obviously the site is all kerfluffy-like this week. It happens.

For today's podcast we go in-depth on everything we know about Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, while preparing to say goodbye to Mass Effect 3 as the final DLC was readying for launch.

Brad and I reminisce about 'our' favorite MMO, and Steven goes link crazy.

This week was a crazy fun episode, hope you all enjoy.

    Calibrating RWBY Feb 28, 2013

Welcome to a special bonus episode of Constantly Calibrating. This episode is simply a compilation of my previous interviews with Monty Oum and Kery Shawcross & Miles Luna. I threw this together in an effort to make sure that people could get all their RWBY info in one place, should they wish it.

Calibrating Kingdom Citadel Feb 27, 2013

Hello to you all! Sorry for the delay in posting episode 38, but our hosting service decided to take a dump on us, which...yeah sorry for that imagery.

On this episode of Constantly Calibrating we go into a semi-lengthy discussion of the final Mass Effect 3 DLC and a possibly super-lengthy discussion of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix coming to North America and Europe.

Did you know that we entered our podcast into The Geekie Awards? Did you know that you can enter your geekie stuff as well? Well, check the link dump and enter yourself soon; the deadline is in two days!

Finally, just letting you all know that I will not be putting out my unboxing video for LootCrate. It is...just embarassingly bad, like to a degree that even I can't warrant putting it out. Sorry if you were for some reason excited about it.

That and probably less, maybe more, on this episode of Constantly Calibrating.

    Calibrating Playstation 4 Feb 21, 2013

Episode 37 of Constantly Calibrating is our super special bonus episode of sleep-deprivation, I mean awesomeness! The Playstation 4 debuted today at Sony's Press Conference. Find out all the details and our thoughts on the first "true" next-gen to be announced.

Calibrating Kristen Nedopak Feb 20, 2013

Episode 36 of ConCal is something I've been waiting for, for nearly two weeks now. Who knew it would also end up being my first solo gig! Due to some horrendous scheduling-related issues, Steven was not able to join on this episode -- Brad has kids/family that apparently is more important or something -- which left me in the position of doing a full podcast À la carte (which I know I'm using completely inaccurately).

What came out was a highly enjoyable chat with a truly interesting individual/geek. Honestly this is probably my favorite interview to date, which is saying something since I made the same claim just 5 hours earlier after talking to Rooster Teeth's Monty Oum.

Kristen was an absolute delight to chat with, and I can only hope that we have her on again sometime in the not too distant future.

To find out more about The Geekie Awards or their Epic Cosplay Contest, check the link dump! (Do it!)

Calibrating Demonic Kinects Feb 14, 2013

Our 35th episode of Constantly Calibrating is sponsored by the flu. You can pick up the flu super cheap at your local education, medical, or pornographic facility. Also by simply walking outside.

On this episode we explore the wonders of Monopoly again, new board game stuff, announce a contest, and a whole bunch of other mishigas

Calibrating Four in February Feb 05, 2013

Episode 34 of Constantly Calibrating is shockingly enough the 34th episode that we've done of this fun-filled podcasting extravaganza. Crazy how numbers work, eh? This week we discuss some controversy over Borderlands 2, Fire Emblem: Awakening shipping issues, Four in February (including our #4IF contest), and announce a new contest to win a copy of Dead Space 3!

Take a listen and you could get 1/4th of the way closer to winning this newly released game!

Calibrating Sound Quality Issues Jan 22, 2013

Episode 33 is the tale of Furbies, space, Disneyland and probably consoles and gaming on the horizon. With the random spice thrown in to that you all so enjoy.

    Calibrating Marsopoly Jan 15, 2013

Episode 32 of Constantly Calibrating brings us news of a future trip to Mars, that you might be able to take part in; as long as you meet some specific qualifications! Also, Monopoly is losing one of its pieces?! No way!

That and less, or more, on this episode of Constantly Calibrating!

Calibrating Apocalyptic Christmases Dec 24, 2012

Walking Dead: The Game may be my favorite game of the year; Steven questions our being alive after the world ended; and 3 days from Doctor Who Christmas Special. It IS the most wonderful time of the year!

Calibrating Best of Gaming Awards Semi-Spectacular! Dec 18, 2012

You've seen the nominations, now hear us discuss the winners of our first ever End of the Year Gaming Awards Show. This whole project was a partnership between us and the fine folks at Geek News Network and East Valley Gaming, which is why it saddens us that due to technical difficulties we were unable to carry on a stable connection via Skype. As such the podcast will consist of myself, Steven, and Brad for an entire two hours! (Note: Two hours is a hell of a podcast to edit, so I hope you all like it. This is seriously my favorite one we have ever done.)

    Calibrating Omega Dec 11, 2012

Episode 29 brings us a tale of the making of a Constantly Calibrating episode, sort of. We cover some of the scripting of how an episode comes to be. More importantly we cover our thoughts on Mass Effect: Omega at the end. Sorry for the short introductory paragraph here, but been dealing with a series of mini emergencies throughout the last week.

Calibrating Thankful Assassinations Dec 03, 2012

We bring unto you our episode, number 28 in the lore of the land of those who calibrate constantly. Of this episode we speak great truths in regard to the horrors of traveling during the giving of thanks, but that is not all. For we regale you with many a tale of opinions of Assassin's Creed, the Third. Does gentle Ubisoft's latest opus score well with Steven and mine eyes; find out at the end of our thrilling podcasting experience!

Of Calibrating Disney and Strays Nov 21, 2012

Back and better than ever! Probably, wait...we were gone? Well I guess not really. It's only been 17 days, but who's counting. This week we discuss Steven's whirlwind travel extravaganza of extravagance; plus there's a new Doctor Who Christmas trailer, and it is awesome!

Calibrating Disney Wars Nov 03, 2012

Holy hell! Disney owns Lucasfilm and most importantly Star Wars! This was the huge/surprising announcement from this past week; something that I'm still having trouble fully coming to terms with. This week's podcast is completely devoted to discussing Star Wars, Disney, and everything related to both. Huge thanks to our special guest, our buddy Brad for joining us to look at what the future may hold for Star Wars.

    Calibrating Assassin's Fogcast Oct 30, 2012

Episode 25 is here at last! Why am I so excited for this, you ask? Well, we decided that starting with our 25th episode we would be adding in music at the beginning of our podcasts. Until such time as we decide on an official podcast theme song we will be alternating through assorted music fitting of the individual discussions, or such.

On today's podcast: some Assassin's Creed discussions and fogcast related rambleations!

This week's theme song is "Brothers of the Creed" by Miracle of Sound. More information about Miracle of Sound can be found by visiting our site and click on this podcast's link.

Calibrating Extra House Life Oct 23, 2012

Another week, another podcast; for once with Josh being far more sleep-deprived than Steven! It's a Christmas miracle...in October; which makes sense since in Arizona people start putting up holiday decorations at the same time as Halloween decorations. I blame Sun-exposure.

For today's podcast we go into quite a few discussions of what it takes to build a home; some Mass Effect: Omega announcement stuff; all culminating in random tirades about Disney. All-in-all a pretty standard podcast out here at ConCal.

    Calibrating BT Oct 16, 2012

The time of reckoning hath come to pass! Fogcast #2 is here and you will enjoy it, or else! XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Mass Effect* (big shocker), and assorted scientific preamble appear and contour to the shape of our most recent show.

*The announcement about the newest Mass Effect DLC titled “Omega” was announced shortly after we recorded this week’s podcast. We’ll have more information and a discussion of that on next week’s episode.

Calibrating Anthony & Ashly Burch Oct 09, 2012

    So much EXCITEMENT!!!

Now that that outburst is out of the way...mostly.

Today we bring you a podcast that I had been waiting to record for quite some time, but wasn't sure if we would be able to work it out. On the show we have Anthony Burch (Lead Writer of Borderlands 2) and Ashly Burch (Tiny Tina in Borderlands 2) and it was awesome! The Burch's, as we tend to call them around our house, are old friend's of ours and to catch up and suck up to them was oh so fun.

With that, put your Borderlands 2 down*, sit down, and have a listen.

*Note: You really don't need to put Borderlands 2 down; your obsession is perfectly healthy and understandable. Just throw the podcast on while you're playing. You'll find it adds to the ambiance in ways you would never expect.

Calibrating Border Hearts HD Sep 22, 2012

Our podcast is finally legal! Time to get it sloshed! Except we didn't think about this fact prior to recording and I don't drink any more. Hmmm, probably shouldn't point this fact out then.

Alas, we come to our latest podcast with our discussions of Borderlands 1 & 2, as well as the newly announced Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD thing.

Turns out that I'm also extremely tired, in that I completely forgot to record an introduction this time. Well, let's pretend it was intentional and just a test or something.

    Calibrating Fogcast Sep 15, 2012

We're still here 6 months, and 20 episodes later. On today's podcast we discuss the recent announcements concerning the Wii U; the upcoming release of Borderlands 2; an upcoming episode in progress; FTL; and much more!

Calibrating Leviathan Tangents Sep 07, 2012

Today is the day of DLC discussions and Mass Effect tangents. Hearthfire just released this week and Josh has some thoughts on the new expansion. In addition, Steven and Josh go into an incredibly lengthy winding discussion of the latest Mass Effect 3 DLC, Leviathan.

If you enjoy are normal daily rantings, then make sure you check out our new podcast, After Who. Your beloved crew from ConCal sits around with more of our friends and discuss the latest episode of Doctor Who shortly after it airs. It is a fun-filled Whovian extravaganza. Allons-y!

Calibrating Post Insanity Aug 31, 2012

Time for us to deliver to you a short podcast. This week Steven and I discussed Mass Effect 3 once more. The focus being our recent completion of the base game including Insanity mode. It took us each forever to get around to, but finally it is done.

Also, we discuss our new podcast After Who in a bit more, or less, detail. Check that out this coming Sunday for awesome Whovian discussions of series 7 and The Doctor's return.

    Calibrating Sex & Who Aug 26, 2012

Today's podcast begins with an announcement of our new Doctor Who podcast, premiering next weekend. For more information on After Who check out the below link dump section.

Also on the podcast we discuss our adventures in Skyrim and go on many, many tangents. One of which leads to a completely random discussion of porn from our childhood. Yes, a podcast focusing on what some view as a children's TV show devolves into a discussion of sex & porn.

    You have been warned.

Calibrating Swallowing Marbles Aug 20, 2012

Episode 16 brings us a discussion of what we discuss. Pretty meta, eh? Steven also goes into a complete lack of detail about a childhood experience with a clown named Marbles. I however decide to ramble on about an experience with the Dawnguard expansion for Skyrim.

    Calibrating Returns Aug 03, 2012

We have returned! Nearly a month ago we took a brief hiatus from podcasting. It wasn't planned. It wasn't even logical, but still it happened. What is important is that we're back baby! For today's podcast we get back into the swing of things and discuss what we've been up to. Make sure you stick around to the end for a "special" minicast surprise from us.

Calibrating The Amazing Spider-Extended Cut Jul 05, 2012

Double podcast topic time! Woo! On today's podcast we discuss both The Amazing Spider-Man (prior to having seen it) and the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut which was just released last week. Don't worry about spoilers for that, we save them for the end.

To help facilitate the Mass Effect 3 discussion, here is my "Derpy" Derek Shepard as discussed in the podcast.

Calibrating Matt Hullum Jun 26, 2012

Today is a very special podcast with a very special guest. Matt Hullum, co-founder of Rooster Teeth, stopped by our little podcast to discuss all things Rooster Teeth, as well as RTX! We of course don't mean he stopped by in the literal sense, but his ever-charming voice did dance their way around my computer and into your earholes. Or something. Matt was completely awesome and you should listen, right now.

    Calibrating RTX Jun 24, 2012

Time for the shortest of short podcasts that has ever shortened a podcast. A quick intro and into our big announcements about Rooster Teeth Expo. Make sure to listen and let us know if you have any questions for Matt Hullum. Also note, that despite it being a shortened more announcement related podcast, this does not mean that we have stopped rambling incoherently. That is part of our charm after all.

    Calibrating Prometheus Jun 20, 2012

Episode 11 and that brings us to "Prometheus". Steven and I watched the movie with family the weekend it came out and decided to record a podcast about it. At 2AM. It's fun, rambly and everything you would hope a podcast from Constantly Calibrating would be. Make sure you tune in later this week to Episode 12 for a big announcement from us.

    Calibrating E3 2012 Jun 11, 2012

Time for our tenth podcast! This week is a discussion of most things E3, or at the very least the things we felt like discussing. Listen carefully throughout the podcast and you might notice Josh losing his mind. Don't panic, it's not an act.

    Calibrating Zombie Comic-Con Rantington May 25, 2012

Episode 9 of Constantly Calibrating is brought to you buy choking on coconut water. We however bring you some information on the Stamford Zombie Walk happening this Summer as well as some Phoenix Comic-Con and Nerdist discussion.

Calibrating Raychul Moore May 21, 2012

Hey, it's episode number 8! Holy frell does time fly. It feels like just 5 days ago we were posting episode 7. On today's extra special podcast we have the extra special and lovely, Ms. Raychul Moore! Raychul is completely awesome and a delight to chat with. Diablo 3, Kingdoms of Amalur, The Avengers, and Cabin in the Woods are just some of the things discussed. (Sadly we forgot to talk to her about cosplay. Woops!

Calibrating Episode VII - Some Avenging Required May 16, 2012

On today's podcast Steven and I are frelling exhausted. As such I have decided to leave the podcast unedited for your listening..ummm....pleasure? On this episode we discuss The Avengers and its earth-shattering earthyness. We also get constantly distracted. It's fun!

Calibrating Episode VI: Calibrations Return May 03, 2012

Hey we're back with episode #6 of Constantly Calibrating. For today's podcast we finally fix the snags we previously experience with Skype and get our good friend Brad Coggins on the podcast. Brad is a huge fan of World of Warcraft and takes the time to give us some info on the ongoing Mists of Pandaria beta. He also fills Steven and I in on the Diablo 3 open beta. The three of us delve into our secret nerd shame as well. Have a listen and let us know what you think!

Calibrating Episode V - The Striking of the Calibrations Apr 26, 2012

Wow, it's already time for Episode #5 of Constantly Calibrating. Can you all believe it?! In today's episode we finally go into some more detail about Josh's love of Leisure Suit Larry, and the ongoing Kickstarter campaign. Skyrim Kinect also gets some discussion time; as well as Halo 4. Good conversations were had by all!

Calibrating Episode IV: Hopefully a New Calibration Apr 20, 2012

Our podcast today is brought to you by the letter S for Skype or Static. Steven and I decided to experiment with using Skype to record a podcast this week and it worked out phenomenally, except for one catch. Apparently Skype was altering the input levels throughout the recording to account for Steven's low not-in-the-room voice, which caused my already higher voice to come in blisteringly loud. I managed to fix most of the spiking issues, however my editing skills are quite limited so there is still a bit of distortion. My apologies, but rest assured that we will make sure this doesn't happen again. On today's podcast we discuss our thoughts on my recent purchase of a Kinect; our opinions of The Cabin in the Woods; and summer movies we are looking forward to. This is Episode IV of Constantly Calibrating, thank you and enjoy!

    Calibrating Microphones Apr 07, 2012

Sorry for the delay, but we are now back with our third ever podcast. This episode is brought to you in stunning HD, or Hungover Definition. In this edition you will hear talk of our favorite April Fools jokes, Assassin's Creed 3, our dream podcast guests, Doctor Who discussion, and possibly many more. Listen and let us know what you think.

Calibrating Endings and Companions Mar 24, 2012

In our second ever podcast we discuss many things, which I'm sure you all will find highly surprising. There is some discussion about the ending for Mass Effect 3, so skip to around the 24-25 minute mark to avoid that. The Doctor's new companion also gets some time as well as Steven informing us on tax breaks related to game development in the UK. Stay to the end to find out if we figured out how to end a podcast properly without a stream of gibberish. (The answer will not surprise you, at all.)

    Calibrating Mass Effect 3 Mar 14, 2012

Welcome to the premiere episode of Constantly Calibrating. On this initial podcast we discuss, for the first time, our impressions of Mass Effect 3. Warning; there will be spoilers.
