Ep 250: Love Is Blind, My Unorthodox Life & More Aug 03, 2021

Show notes

This episode was different than almost any other that Emma and Julie have done. Given that there wasn't much news in the world of pop culture, they devoted the majority of this episode to a reality television debrief.

First, they started with the three episode special, Love Is Blind: After The Alter. As most who watched it can probably confirm, it was relatively painful to get through. That being said, still a bunch to discuss (Jessica's revival, Damian/Francesca/Giannina & so much more).

They then transitioned into a rather intensive breakdown of Netflix's new reality show, My Unorthodox Life. They broke the conversation into two sections: 1) looking at it from a more critical lens as it applied to Judaism and 2) a more frivolous drama/plot line breakdown. They first discussed some of the concerns that the show raised, their own interpretations as Jews who do have a familiarity to the Orthodox community that was described, and more. Then, they talked the wealth, the drama, the magic that is Robert, and more.

Lastly, they touched on DaBaby's disgusting and ill-informed rant against the LGBTQ+ community and those impacted by HIV/AIDS, the Selling Sunset relationship news, and a few minutes on Kardashians.

Kardashian Bonus Show: Season 4, Episode 5 Recap Jul 30, 2021

Show notes

This episode is certainly an iconic one among Kardashian throwbacks. Before Julie and Emma get into it, they spend a few minutes discussing the Kylie pregnancy theory, and reflecting on the media storm surrounding her pregnancy with Stormi.

This episode centers around two main plot lines: Kourtney and Scott's lack of sex during the end of her pregnancy, and Lamar and Khloé being apart for the first time since their wedding. We see Scott and Kourtney tackle the issue together, going to a class that helps soothe her fear around hurting the baby. We then see Khloé attempt to make a sexy video for Lamar to take on the road, only for it to turn disastrous when Scott and Rob view it first.

Comments By Bravo: Candiace & Karen, Mia & Zen Wen, Ramonja’s Birthday, & More. Jul 28, 2021

Show notes

Emma and Isabel are here to recap this week's Bravo episodes - a little earlier than usual, since RHOBH is on hiatus this Wednesday.

They get right into it with Potomac, where they analyze Karen and Candiace's long-awaited sit down, Robyn & Juan's continually uncomfortable dynamic, their thoughts on Mia as we learn more of her story, and discuss everything that goes down at Ashley's pamper party. They also dive deep into Wendy and Mia getting off on the wrong foot, and try to figure out what's actually going on there. It was another great week in Potomac.

RHONY ~45:00

Another subpar week in New York. Emma and Isabel break down the three main storylines that we got this episode: Eboni finding out more about her father/potential sister, Luann throwing a small birthday party for Ramona and Sonja, and a charity Christmas song featuring all the women...that creates an argument between Luann and Leah.

Kardashian Bonus Show: Season 4, Episode 2 Recap Jul 14, 2021

Show notes

This KUWTK episode was - for lack of a better word - a shit show. We had the three major plot lines: Kris vs. Caitlyn in the battle for financial freedom, Scott's inability to mature, and Rob's unhealthy and concerning obsession with getting Adrienne back. It was quite the combination of dysfunction. Very entertaining dysfunction, nonetheless.

Emma and Julie break it down scene by scene, specifically highlighting how interestingly some of this aged. They remark about how episodes like these are a great reminder as to how the family's willingness to show their less than perfect side really helped propel their growth in the reality television world.
