The Command Zone
1. Discussion on new cards we got and spec ideas
Main Topic - Deck Archtypes
1. Disclaimer: These are our own opinions.
2. I’ve been feeling a little disinterested in magic lately. Part of it is release fatigue, but more so I think it’s boredom with my decks. Currently I have a deck for each archetype that I’m into and every new commander I’m interested in falls into the same archetypes of my current decks.
3. Problems
  1. Card overlap
  2. Similarity of play
  3. I feel like the influx of new commanders as the format has become more popular has lead to less unique commanders and more that fall into established archetypes
  4. I also feel like this my problem and not one caused by anything else.
4. Decks / Archetypes
  1. Yawgmoth - Aristocrats / Combo
    1. Elias / Lurrus
  2. Niv-Mizzet, Parun - Spell Slinger / Wheels
    1. Nekusar, the Mindrazer
    2. Veyran, Voice of Duality
  3. Lord Windgrace - Land / Landfall / Graveyard Recursion
    1. Thalia and The Gitrog Monster
  4. Roger / Arden - Equipment
  5. Sythis - Enchantments / Draw a bunch of cards
    1. Calix, Guided by Fate
    2. Go-Shintai of Life's Origin (Semi-interesting)
  6. Thrasios / Tevish - Draw a lot / Combo
    1. Not interested in another deck of this archtype
    2. Higher Powered
  7. Abomination of Lanowar - Aggro / Extreme Ramp
    1. Not interested in another deck of this archtype
