    Show notes

Just 2 unbeatens remain, and one of them is freight train named the Tennessee Volunteers! On the latest Dugouts, Dumbbells & Dingers, Kyle Schassburger and David Kahn return from covering the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament in Greenville to try and wrap their heads around the most recent results in college baseball. They talk a whole lot of Tennessee, a smidge of Florida State, and give the Stanford Cardinal their props as well. Plus, it was weekend full of no-hitters, and Schass and Kahn feel like they can throw a no-hitter themselves now that they have their very own BORGOBALLS in hand! George Mason breaks a 42-year-old NCAA record, Kahn gets way deep in his nerd bag talking records, and Schass finds his new favorite player, James Quinn-IRONS (#GAINS). Happy Conference Play season everyone! #FREEBERTO

Conference Tournament Week is here Mar 10, 2025
    Show notes

Not much to say here, because you already know. College basketball's regular season is over. The postseason is upon us. Automatic bids are being handed out on a daily basis until we get to Selection Sunday in a mere 6 days. The next week is what this sport is all about, people. Gather 'round the speaker and turn us up so we can get you ready for everything you missed this weekend or need to know about going into this week. Hartzell has printed the internet. Norlander is dialed into the coaching carousel. It's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it!

Putting the finishes touches on those resumes | Gauer Hour Mar 07, 2025
    Show notes

This is it. For the major conference teams it's one last weekend to polish that resume before turning it in to the Selection Committee. Megan Gauer and Rob Joyce go conference-by-conference and talk about the last weekend of the regular season, and what's at stake at each tournament this weekend. Who's locked up a 1-seed? What needs to be done for others to do so? Who on earth is going to host? And who is going to sweat out Selection Sunday? Megan and Rob (from the finest hotel room in Greenville) break it all down.

Coaching carousel talk with ESPN's Jeff Borzello Mar 06, 2025
    Show notes

Miami has their man, and with that the first official P5 job opening has been filled. How many more are coming, and how spicy is this season's coaching carousel going to be? Jeff Borzello of ESPN drops by for a heavy dose of coaching conjecture. What jobs aren't currently open but we suspect will be very soon? You'll have to tune in for the full scoop - which is ample. Norlander and Hartzell kick the show off gushing over Florida's win on the road at Alabama and Ole Miss' upset of Tennessee. Which bubble teams helped themselves so far this week (Texas, Xavier, Oklahoma), and which ones did not (Wake Forest)? A brief lookahead to the weekend which is loaded with regular season finales and some conference tournament autobids. Hurry up and get this in your system before Indiana State and Southern Illinois get going in the first round of the MVC because yes folks it's that time!

    Dugouts, Dumbbells & Dingers - It's Story Time! | March 4, 2025 Mar 04, 2025
    Show notes

Kyle Schassburger and David Kahn return from being on baseball assignments with stories GALORE! Schass was in Buies Creek, and Kahn was on the homefront in Winston-Salem, and they have plenty to dissect from their first baseball radio calls of the year. Plus, who will be the last undefeated team standing in college baseball? Are we worried about Texas A&M? Is the double base causing more problems than it needs to? The baseball boys debate these topics, as well as provide this week's Backyard Breakdown, presented by Borgoballs, courtesy of LSU, and dive into the 37th perfect game into college baseball history as part of their Box Score BINGO. Plenty of dudes, hat tips and SDAs to go around as well as the guys get set to hit the road for Greenville for the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament.

    Weekend recap + RMU's Andy Toole Mar 03, 2025
    Show notes

It is, in fact, March. Can confirm. Norlander and Hartzell are unpacking the weekend - including some buzzer beater audio in the SEC - plus who on the bubble did (Georgia) and did not (Arkansas) help themselves last time out. Special guest Andy Toole joins the program to talk about his Robert Morris squad embarking on the Horizon League tournament this week, plus his top-3 Bruce Springsteen albums. Coach Toole was bout that life growing up in New Jersey, which you'll hear all about during his 30-minute interview. What's on deck this week in terms of must-see hoops on TV, and some brief discussion on the jamband bracket, which is completed but needs some PR help before it goes public.

What's gonna happen in March? You tell us | Gauer Hour Feb 28, 2025
    Show notes

If the last five days are any indication... March is going to be nuts. Notre Dame lost twice, who knows who is going to be a 1-seed, the Big Ten and Big 12 come down to one game, and the SEC will probably be decided by... a coin flip. So much to get to on the latest Gauer Hour with Megan and Rob. Plus, a little GOAT talk at the end.

All rise ... the honorable John Fanta presiding Feb 27, 2025
    Show notes

So much to get to and we start with the buzzer beater in College Park. March is less than 48 hours away but with moments like that, it feels like we're already there. A quick run through the weeknight results of note, including more jockeying in the SEC, which Norlander doesn't think is going to get to 13 NCAAT bids because he's a hater. We clear the runway for John Fanta who stops by to discuss - among other things - St John's atop the Big East, why he chose to attend Seton Hall as an undergrad, the biggest pet peeves about college basketball coverage this time of year, his list of legitimate national championship contenders, and who the Browns should take at 2 in the upcoming NFL Draft. A real tour-de-force performance from Fanta, it should be said. Norlander & Hartzell run through the must-see TV games on deck this weekend, which is a solid A- slate according to the fellas. Let's enjoy the games, March is coming!

Dugouts, Dumbbells & Dingers - Roll Tide and Box Score Bingo | February 25, 2025 Feb 25, 2025
    Show notes

Has Rob Vaughn turned the Tide in Tuscaloosa? Kyle Schassburger and David Kahn react to Alabama making the city of Jacksonville look like Tuscaloosa EAST as they swept through the JAX Classic over the weekend, as well as the results at Globe Life Field, in Round Rock and in the state of NC. Plus, Tennessee is Tennessee (duh!), are we worried about Virginia?, and Texas A&M loses Gavin Grahovac for the year. BUT - UMES WON A GAME BABY, LET'S GO! The baseball boys also welcome a new partner, Backyard Baseball Bros, to the podcast, and a new segment, Box Score Bingo, where they find the wackiest box scores throughout the week and dissect them. Campbell's Jett Music, NDSU's Bullpen Catcher, Charleston Baseball's new General Manager, Sam Gjormand, and Cannolis wrap up this INTOXICATING recap of Weekend 2 of college baseball.

Norlander's Final Four darkhorses & Natty picks Feb 24, 2025
    Show notes

Don't let the title fool you, Hartzell chimes in as well ... but the headline here is we're unveiling these lists because we got one week left in February, people. March is coming. Time to strap in and get ready for the thrill ride that is postseason hoops because it's knocking at the door. Plenty to get to from the weekend, most notably the five upsets of ranked teams losing to unranked teams on Saturday. The three contests that Norlander took in over three days were all double-digit margins - including the all-time worst loss in the history of Illinois basketball - so the fellas spend most of their time hopping around everything else that went down over the weekend. In addition to the lists of Natty contenders and Final Four darkhorses, we have an official wager that is placed between Hartzell and Norlander on the NCAA Tournament. And if that's not bad enough, wait 'til you hear Norlander's Led Zeppelin takes!
