Friday, October 25, 2019: Trump Again Defends Phone Call with Ukraine's President Oct 25, 2019
    Show notes

The House impeachment inquiry reaches out to John Bolton for possible testimony. The President's former national security adviser reportedly called Rudy Giuliani a "hand grenade" and likened his meddling in foreign policy to a "drug deal." President Trump again trashes the impeachment process and insists his phone call with Ukraine's President was "perfect" in a Q&A with reporters at the White House. And an all hands on deck farewell for Congressman Elijah Cummings at today's Baltimore funeral. Among those there -- two former Presidents and the former Secretary of State. Today's Panel: CNN's Abby Phillip, Paul Kane with The Washington Post, Jackie Kucinich with The Daily Beast, and Maggie Haberman with The New York Times. Also on the Program: CNN's Manu Raju

Thursday, October 24, 2019: Trump and Republicans on the Attack amid Damning Impeachment Testimony Oct 24, 2019
    Show notes

House Conservatives barge into a secure impeachment hearing. Democrats call it a stunt designed to distract from damning testimony, and promise public hearings -- most likely next month. Plus the President's impeachment strategy has two key elements: Smear the key witnesses, and pressure Republicans to stay in line. Human scum is the President's term for Republicans who disagree with him. And on Capitol Hill -- a rare bipartisan moment of unity -- and a solemn farewell to Congressman Elijah Cummings. Today's Panel: Vivian Salama with The Wall Street Journal, CNN's Jeff Zeleny, Heather Caygle with POLITICO, and Margaret Talev with Axios Also on the Program: CNN's Manu Raju and Michael Warren

Wednesday, October 23, 2019: Trump Lifts All Sanctions Against Turkey Oct 23, 2019
    Show notes

President Trump declares victory in Syria despite broad bipartisan condemnation of his decision to abandon the Kurds. He announces what he calls a "permanent" ceasefire and says some U.S. troops will remain behind. Plus, damning impeachment testimony and growing GOP worries: A veteran diplomat lays out evidence of a Ukraine quid pro quo, and says complaints about Rudy Giuliani's meddling - or damage to national security interests -- were brushed aside. And a new CNN poll shows a resilient Joe Biden atop the Democratic pack, with a healthy national lead. The former vice president is retracing his roots today in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to make the case he can win back blue collar voters and defeat President Trump. Today's Panel: CNN's Nia-Malika Henderson, Michael Shear with The New York Times, Laura Barron Lopez with POLITICO, and Karoun Demirjian with The Washington Post Also on the Program: CNN's Kaitlan Collins, Nick Paton Walsh, David Gergen and Phil Mattingly

Tuesday, October 22, 2019: Trump Tweets Comparing Impeachment Inquiry to a "Lynching" Oct 22, 2019
    Show notes

President Trump calls the House impeachment inquiry a lynching, and the timing is no coincidence: A critical witness is on Capitol Hill -- a veteran diplomat who complained it was "crazy" to withhold aid to Ukraine until it agreed to pursue the President's political vendettas. Plus, an important first in new CNN polling: Support for impeaching and removing the President from office hits 50 percent. But there are clear partisan divides: Only 6% of Republicans back impeachment. And the backlash is instant: African American lawmakers say the President's use of the term "lynching" is deeply offensive, yet not surprising given the source. Today's Panel: Julie Hirschfeld Davis with The New York Times, Toluse Olorunnipa with The Washington Post, Olivier Knox With SiriusXM, and Catherine Lucey with The Wall Street Journal Also on the Program: CNN's Manu Raju and Kylie Atwood

Plus, more big witnesses this week as the House impeachment inquiry gains steam. The President's acting chief of staff is in hot water -- trying now to take back what Democrats call his Ukraine corruption confession. And the Justice Department is distancing itself from the President's Personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani. Today's Panel: CNN's Dana Bash, Seung Min Kim with The Washington Post, Alex Thompson with POLITICO, and Julie Pace with The Associated Press. Also on the Program: CNN's Kaitlan Collins, MJ Lee, Evan Perez and Ryan Browne

Friday, October 18, 2019: Mulvaney Now Denies Quid Pro Quo After Admitting It Oct 18, 2019
    Show notes

The White House Chief of Staff brazenly confirms a Ukraine quid pro quo -- a key piece of the Democrats' impeachment case. Then he says he didn't mean it. Plus, the President says the deal the U.S. made with Turkey is a ceasefire, and is "great." But Turkey's foreign minister says it is not a cease fire at all, and the European Union says the President again sold out the Kurds. And the simple truth is that the impeachment inquiry witnesses all served in the Trump administration. The President, though, calls it a conspiracy hatched by "crazy" Democrats. Today's Panel: CNN's Nia-Malika Henderson, Julie Pace with the Associated Press, Carl Hulse with The New York Times, and Margaret Talev with Axios. Also on the Program: CNN's Arwa Damon

Thursday, October 17, 2019: Ambassador Testifies Trump Directed Him to Work With Giuliani on Ukraine Oct 17, 2019
    Show notes

Critical testimony today as House Democrats build their abuse of power impeachment case. A Trump campaign donor turned ambassador tells Congress the President personally directed him to work with Rudy Giuliani - and that Giuliani tied Ukraine's hope for a White House meeting to its willingness to investigate the Bidens. Plus, VP Pence lobbies Turkey to halt its military operation in Syria -- as the President bristles at both Republicans and Democrats who say he is making America weaker and handing a gift to Russia, Iran and ISIS. And Congress loses a unique, booming voice: Elijah Cummings was a son of sharecroppers who rose to be chairman of the powerful House Oversight Committee. The Baltimore icon died this morning at the age of 68. Today's Panel: CNN's Dana Bash, Michael Bender with The Wall Street Journal, CNN's Kylie Atwood, Asma Khalid with NPR and Julie Hirschfeld Davis with The New York Times
