ElectroPop (Vocal House, Dance) - DJ Kerry John Poynter Sep 04, 2010

Show notes

"You better take me any which way you get" (Track #3). "You make me feel like I'm 17. Some kind of drama queen. Whenever we touch" (Track #1). Nu wave disco house 80's fantastic hella fun. I just don't know how else to describe this set. This one is about to uplift your spirits. You are about to enjoy yourself. "C'mon! C'mon! Show me the night!" (Track #5). "It's a party. It's just getting started. Let's go together" (track #6). Then the electro beats just don't stop. "I don't wanna wait for you. I don't wanna be YOUR man!" (track #7). If you made it this far, and I know you have, then Miami Horror and Morgan Page/Adam Lambert are about to KILL you. "There's a thin line between a wild time and a flat line..." (track #11). "We can fly far away. Let's escape..." (track #13) This is escapism electro pop to the up most degree. "Into the clouds." Have you lost this feeling? (track #14). OH, ENJOY!

Track List (58:31)"

Close to You (Fear of Tigers Remix) - The Venus Stare: Is this my favorite tune on this set? Perhaps. There are SO many faves on this set!
Please Don't Leave - Fear of Tigers: Long live Fear of Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!! More please! Hell. I DEMAND IT.
Any Which Way (7th Heaven Club Mix) -Scissor Sisters: Jake and crew find their way onto my DJ podcast with a third tune from their new album. I *LOVE* you Jake Shears. Can I be your shipment? LOL! I guess it's no mistake that 80's pop group turned DJ/Remixers, 7th Heaven, created this tasty remix.
Dancing On My Own (Buzz Junkies Club Mix) - Robyn: She is my Madonna right now. I despise anything Lady Caca, she needs to GO AWAY. Robyn has filled that La M void for me. I can only take one pseudo diva vocalist in my life. Robyn, you have been it. This is the third remix of this tune that has found a home on my podcast. "I keep dancing on my own..." classic.
Show Me The Night (Grum Remix) - Jump Jump Dance Dance: This tune was an instant blog fave not long ago. Too bad this never made it onto any 'radio' stations in my country. This is why I listen to internet radio. FM pop stations are crap in the U.S.A! Down with Clear Channel that owns the vast majority of stations that dictate what is "popular" in my country. It's time to start tracking what internet stations are playing. Hello Billboard magazine. FM radio is DEAD!
Let's Go Together (Grum Remix) - Gamble & Burke
I Don't Wanna (feat. Danny Andersen) - Dato: I love these guys. I look forward to more new electro beats from them. Fab. This is a Soundcloud discovery. THANKS!
Proof (Lifelike Remix) - Baxter: Lifelike is God in my opinion. The originator of the French disco house movement a number of years ago. Please don't stop.
Vox Populi (Lifelike Treatment) - Jupiter: Lifelike again. Yay.
I Look To You - Miami Horror: Make sure to watch this band. My friend Powell at Bpmmm introduced me. Thanks Hun. (Miss you)
If I Had You (Morgan Page Extended Mix) - Adam Lambert: What would one of my mixes be without some Morgan Page? Only reason miss Lambert made it on here. Not bad!
Call Me (Original Short Version) - Shark and Sylvain: This tune first appears on one of my favorite DJ sets last year called "Sunrise After Dark". It fits quite well in this mix. Why isn't this tune huge? Deserves to be.
Somebody Somewhere (Lifelike Remix) - Cazals: Did I mention I love Lifelike? I'm sure i have somewhere before.
Into the Clouds (Fear of Tigers Remix) - The Sound of Arrows: It doesn't get any more uplifting and "that's so gay" than this!!! Thank you Sound of Arrows. I genuinely mean that. Really, thanks.
Los Feeling (Fear of Tigers Mix) - Visitor: Fear of Tigers!! Visitor closes out this set after starting my last DJ set, Electronic Love, two weeks ago. I haven't lost their feeling.

Wonderful Believer (Vocal House, Dance) - DJ Kerry John Poynter Aug 05, 2010

Show notes

"Never give up. It's such a wonderful life.". (Track #1) "I'm a believer." (Track # 11)

Track list (58:41):

Wonderful Life (Freemasons Club Mix) - Hurts
Firing Line (Wideboys Stadium Mix) - Digital Dog
Love Don't Live Here (Ian Masterton Extended Mix) - Bananarama
Trouble Is (Tiesto Remix Club Edit) - Turboweekend
Phazing feat. Rudy (Tiesto Remix) - Dirty South
Love Comes Again (Bart Claesson Remix) - BT
Falling In Love With Brazil (Kaskade's Mash Up) - Haley vs. Deadmau5: Forget that other Deamau5 rip off with the sweet lyric cookie cutter chorus and uber Easter candy cookie cutter choreographed easy on the eyes female vocalist tune and video. This mash up is the real deal. Thanks Kaskade. And really Deadmau5. You got paid for the official remix for Ms. Jordan but it's all about Ms. Haley recognizing a good thing. I give respect to Alex Jordan for whatever electronic music queen on her payroll or EDM afficionado that clued her into the greatness that is Deadmau5. I just have a difficult time accepting her blatant copying of Deadmaut's music that I loved before her fantastic chorus was added. I love it. I HATE it at the same time. Thus, I give you this fresh mash up courtesy of Kaskade and Haley that stays true to the original but enhances it with Haley's vocals from her soon to be single. Thanks Kaskade! LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hang With Me (Avicii's Exclusive Club Mix) - Robyn
Finally Found (Max Vangeli Extended Mix) - Late Night Alumni
Be My Baby - Diamond Cut Remix
Believer (Summer of Pride Remix) - Freemasons
Waterfall (Fear of Tigers Remix) - Rosanna

Fantasy (Vocal House, Dance) - DJ Kerry John Poynter Jun 16, 2010

Show notes

Vocal trance/progressive house fans rejoice! This is the sound that Club Kerry NYC is all about: somewhere between progressive dance and mainstream. This set is the epitome of that. I've been sitting on this one for a little while waiting for the right occasion to release it. It's my birthday. It's time. I think this is also going to end up being one of my top 10 mixes. Look out for the double shot of amazing vocals by Nadia Ali (tracks 6 & 7) and new comer Hannah Ray (tracks 11 & 12). Enjoy!

Digital Dog is God! (Tribute DJ Set) Jun 08, 2010

Show notes

The second in what is to be a tribute series of "God" mixes. "Morgan Page is God" turned out to be a critical success and a fan favorite! Each "God" tribute mix will be dedicated to one of my fave DJ/producers featuring tracks they have remixed or produced. Digital Dog produces an electro house sound that easily layers into some great vocal pop melodies. They are a duo, consisting of Steve Cornish and Nick Mace from the U.K., that also record under the name Jack Rokka. Here are fourteen of my favorites seamlessly mixed together. Look out for a Freemason's "God" mix later this summer. Enjoy!

Track List (56:04):

Dancing on Gravity (Vocal House, Dance) - DJ Kerry John Poynter May 25, 2010

Show notes

"Something you can dance to" (track 2). Heavy on the vocal house this time. Your first summer mix is here. Time to dance on gravity!

Make sure to vote for your favorite track on the Poll tab on my Facebook fan page. Your votes help determine the upcoming fan favorites summer mix.

Track List (58:33):

Dancing On My Own - Robyn: Is Robyn about to become the next electonica pop queen? Just maybe. Easily my fave tune on here. From the first of three new albums to be released in 2010. Looking forward to the tune called "Don't Fucking Tell Me What to Do". Someone has been busy.
DJ (I Could Be Dancing) (Fascination Club Mix) - Alphabeat: "Spin my world round like a record now." Something you can definitely dance to.
Don't Stop Dancing - Kaskade & EDX feat. Haley: Kaskade returns with a new album. One of the best tracks in my humble opinion.
Alligator (Morgan Page Remix) - Tegan & Sara: MORGAN PAGE! 'nuff said. Also, download my tribute mix "Morgan Page is God!"
Invisible Light (Kerry Poynter Visible Extension Edit) - Scissor Sisters: Ask me about running into lead singer Jake Shears at Greenhouse in NYC.
Time (Original Mix) - Xpress 2 feat. James Yuill: A break up tune? I love the lyric:"In this trouble time in this time of war it is nasty and rotten."
Dust in Gravity (Sultan & Ned Shepard Remix) - Delerium feat. Kreesha Turner: Sultan & Ned have been on fire lately. Welcome back Delerium.
My Love (Down By The Sea Remix) - Sunfreakz feat. Dawn Joseph: Forget the other vocal mixes of this tune. This 'sea' mix is meant for summer!
Rocket (Grum Remix) - Goldfrapp: The third remix of this fantastic tune. Grum rarely disappoints.
Things Can Only Get Better (Club Mix) - Knightshock: The top ten 80's hit by Howard Jones is reborn.
Acapella (R2C2 Club Mix) [Ruiz & Craig Club Mix] - Kelis: Fellow New Yorker's Saul Ruiz and Corey Craig breathe new life into Kelis. Check out Saul's web page at http://www.saulruiz.com. Make sure to get his remix of Fight for You by Morgan Page!
Alive (Dave Aude Remix) - Goldfrapp: The second Goldfrapp tune on this set. Check out the other mixes 'cause they are just as bangin'.

Pornstar City (Vocal House, Dance) - DJ Kerry John Poynter Apr 16, 2010

Show notes

A provocative title for a stimulating mix that pushes the BPM energy above 130. No chill out music here! "I could be a pornstar... It's another day in the city." - Pornstar by Amy Meredith (Track 11).

Till Tonight (Vocal House, Dance) - DJ Kerry John Poynter Apr 06, 2010

Show notes

This set may put you in a trance. Full of enormous vocal house and trance tracks that deserve much attention. "Counting down the minutes 'til tonight." Enjoy!

Track List (57:12)

Till Tonight (Original Mix) - Laidback Luke feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn: Former graffiti artist turned DJ, Laidback Luke, from the Netherlands, turns in a massive tune with the vocal power of Jonathan Mendelelsohn. Jonathan had one of my fave tunes, with Wamdue Project, last year with Forgiveness. Check out my previous mix of the same title, Forgiveness.
Come Back (Original Club Mix) - Chicane: The new single to launch the new Chicane album titled 'Giants'. This is essentially a rework of the Paul Young 80's song 'Come Back and Stay'. I'm a big Chicane fan and have already featured two other recent singles on past sets, Hiding All The Stars and Poppiholla that I hope are also on the new album.
Major Tom (Adam K & Soha Club Mix) - Shiny Toy Guns: Peter Schilling recorded it originally but it is the David Bowie character that made it famous. Shiny Toy Guns has a knack for recording exciting cover songs and is perhaps also best known for the songs in the Lincoln car commercials.
U R Everything (Main Mix) - Chuck Love feat. Colette: The Minneapolis based DJ turns out a smooth house track with a vocal by Colette that seems to work perfectly. "You you you you are are are everything..." I dare you to try and get that simple lyric out of your head!
Anthonio (Fred Falke Remix) - Annie: Norwegian singer Annie says this tune is about a holiday affair between her and the title character. As always, Fred Falke doesn't disappoint. "Oh Anthonio it's been nearly one year since our Rio... Was I ever more than just a face in the crowd? Did you even know my name? Did you ever really care?"
I Remember - Deadmau5 ft. Kaskade: Progressive house at it's best with two of my faves. Note, Deadmau5 sounds like "dead mouse". "Hold to the love that you know You don't have to give up to let go. Remember how you pulled me through. I remember."
At The Edge Of This Mountain (Club Mix) - Mango and Aqua Diva: "I heard you cry for a distant love that will never come back." A simple song that copies that progressive sound that seems to be flourishing. But I still love it.
Stars Collide (Timothy Allan Remix) - Damien S. feat. Femke: Easily one of my fave tunes on this set. Find the equally great Loverush UK mix on my previous set Hiding All The Stars.
Choice (Dennis Sheperd Remix)- Michael Angelo Feat. Marcie: "Sometimes we hold on too long. Sometimes we cling to things that really are hurtful. Sometimes we don't see what's obvious. Sometimes we don't know we have a choice." Vocal trance at it's best!
I Feel Love (Original Mix) - Rhythm Masters, MYNC, Wynter Gordon: You know the original by Donna Summer. What else can be said. Just perfect!
Amazing Grace (The Sharp Boy's Extended Club Mix) - Boy George feat. Ana Lains: I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a Boy George tune. Sharp Boy's turn a very good original mix into a stomper house tune. Throw in that Ana vocal sample and Boy himself and it's suddenly fantastic. Could be a fave of the year. "It was just was just another ordinary day. How could you know your life was going to change? You need amazing grace."
Acapella (Dave Aude Remix) - Kelis: I had ignored this tune for a few months. I'm not much into R&B, Kelis is exactly that, and I admit to a prejudice toward most popular singers. However, my friend Nandi introduced me to this remix and I couldn't help but to fall in love with it thanks to Dave Aude.

Feels Like Velvet (Vocal House, Dance) - DJ Kerry John Poynter Mar 22, 2010

Show notes

It's been a while since I shared my thoughts on the tunes along with the track list. Enjoy!

Track List (57:36):

Black Velvet - Ferry Corsten: I remember thinking back in 2008 that I thought this tune should be the future sound of vocal trance. It didn't happen. Instead we have had the more mellow stuff which is good but I also wanted something a bit tougher. Also reminds me of Madonna's song "Skin" from her 1998 Ray of Light release. Ferry? How 'bout some more. "Black velvet feels warm on my skin. Touch me slowly, I want to savor my freedom."
Bittersweet (Freemasons Extended Mix) - Sophie Ellis-Bextor: Waiting for the new Freemason's album that should be out this year. They never seem to disappoint. Thanks Sophie for instigating a little Freemason's sound out in the mean time.
Good Times - Seamus Haji vs Mark Knight & Funkagenda: The #1 1979 hit by Chic is reborn. This tune has been sampled so much in Hip Hop and Rap songs. Did it ever really disappear?
Halfway Gone (Morgan Page Main Mix) - Lifehouse: If you are a fan of my mixes then you have to be a fan of Morgan Page. The man is putting out great remixes and original material. Check out my tribute mix "Morgan Page is God!" released last month and get his new album Believe (iTunes - Amazon - Listen to the full album on Soundcloud).
Feels Like Home - Meck Feat Dino Lenny: Meck just released a new version based on the mash up from the recent Madonna tour. Feels Like A Prayer was great in concert but I didn't care for the new release. So here is the former.
Stoned In Love (Vertigo Vocal Remix) - Chicane feat. Tom Jones: I'm also looking forward to Chicane's new album out in April. Loving the new tune Come Back & Stay. Look for it on an upcoming mix. This is a fave from 2006 and my Raleigh/Durham, NC days. "Stoned in love but not with you."
Feels Like Fire (Club Mix) - Players Please: I don't know who Players Please is but I do know that this tune has elements lifted from Power of Love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. My favorite tune of this set! "I'll keep the vampires at bay. Feels like fire. I'm so in love with you. Purge the soul. Make love your goal."
Rocket (Richard X One Zero Remix) - Goldfrapp: The last mix "Rocket Love Songs" had the outstanding Tiesto remix but I had to include the Richard X mix in this one. Always download a new Richard X remix even if you haven't listened to it. Much like The Freemason's, he never disappoints. This remix is free in the U.S. Amazon store (click here).
Heartbreak on Vinyl (Chew Fu Extended Fix) - Blake Lewis: I loathe American Idol and just about anything associated with it minus my friends that obsess over it. However, the Chew Fu electro sound is well worth this exception.
S'express 2.1 (Mario Lopez Vs C-Base Remix) - Mr. Malo: In 1988 the original was #1 in the clubs in the U.S. I was employed at a Wendy's restaurant at the age of 17 and my very out gay manager LOVED this tune and played it way too much. I guess I did too 'cause I still own it on 12" single. Probably how he figured me out. LOL!
Can't Stop (Original Club Mix) - Noel G. Feat Adam Joseph: Adam is perhaps better known for his work with Bob Sinclair. An uplifting house track to close us out. A shame that I'll probably never hear this on U.S. radio.
