It is with profound lamentation and grievous despondency that I must impart unto thee these melancholy tidings: This is verily the final volume of the Torah. Wail and gnash thine teeth in dolorous affliction, for the sacred writ of Moses hath reached its terminus (save, perchance, Psalm 90). Yet lo, these venerable words shall reappear in fragmentary form within the New Testament, yea, even inscribed in letters of crimson. Attend thou most earnestly, for if thou comprehendest them now, thou shalt apprehend the Testament of New with far greater sagacity. Fare thee well, O Torah. May thy dulcet words return anon to our contemplation and study.

Hold our Little Debbie, we're going all in on food. It's no secret that our culture has A LOT to say about how we eat. But it may surprise you that the Bible has a lot to say as well. If you've ever wrestled with the issue of food, if you've felt like you can't get your eating under control, if you wanna know how the Lordship of Jesus fits into this whole thing, today's episode is for you!

The Short Story: We all have to eat food. It’s literally baked into our everyday lives 😋 Our society is big on eating correctly from a scientific standpoint. But should we be aware of moral standards concerning our eating?

What if God cares about how, when, and what you eat? How do you eat with God at the center?

1 Cor 10:31 "Therefore whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

Application questions:

What is the purpose of food? Is there more than just one purpose?
Are you eating food for spiritual hunger or physical hunger? Are you eating for any other reason than hunger?
How can you be physically hungry but spiritually satisfied at the same time?
How has this conversation pushed you to think outside of your comfort zone?
We challenge you to write down one takeaway from this episode on a note card and put it in your pantry. Take a pic and share it on social media. Tag us so we can see it!

On this first season of the Clearly podcast:
We’re going straight for the deep end, swimming in those often avoided books of the Bible—the minor prophets. Kelly will be walking us through Malachi and Joel while Jimmy addresses some of the complex topics that come up in these passages, things like election, judgment, and wrath (charming, right?).
Don’t be scared! These books and topics are good for us! Paul assured us in 2 Timothy 3:16 that ALL scripture is profitable, not just the stuff that fits on coffee mugs. It benefits us to dig into the Word, even the uncomfortable parts. So join us as we navigate these waters and clear away the fog so that we can see God clearly.
In these 12 weeks, we’re going to:
• learn about prophetic literature in the Bible and why it’s important to study and understand
• dig deep into Malachi and Joel and see how they point to Jesus
• look at parts of God’s character we tend to avoid and see that he’s more lovely than we ever knew
• bring clarity to complex Biblical topics like election, wrath, and judgment
• address the problem of pornography and a real path for victory
