In this message, Pastor Whit George walks you through Ephesians 4 and three characteristics Paul urges each Christ follower to have:

    1. Unity

    2. Service

    3. Holiness

In the chapters leading up to Ephesians 4, Paul gives you a broad overview of our spiritual reality—what God has done for us through Christ. But in chapter 4, Paul urges you to respond to God's good gift. Paul says, that the family of God has certain expectations that create Kingdom of God culture wherever you apply them.

In the chapter, you'll find 3 Kingdom characteristics that you can put into place in your home, your work environment, and your friendships. When you put these in place you will start to see peace where there may have been strife or tension before. Why? because you are beginning to live out a Kingdom culture. Check it out!

The Manner, Mystery, and Might of God Sep 12, 2022
    Show notes

We assume that if God wants something, it will happen without our cooperation, but we have to do our part. It is the manner of God to work through people. In a mysterious work, God has elevated the Church to His own right hand through Christ. It is His desire to anoint our abilities and fill us with His might. We partner with Him so that His will may be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Family is Messy, but Family Is Worth It. Sep 05, 2022
    Show notes

In Ephesians 2:11-22, Pauls talks about Jews and Gentiles being reconciled to each other. There was a deep cultural divide between these two people groups that only Christ could heal, but what does this mean for us today? Sin doesn’t just affect our relationships with God: it affects our relationship with others and with ourselves. But through Christ, God has reconciled us to Himself, and He has given us reconciliation with each other. That means the family of the Church, united despite our differences, is a living witness to what Jesus did on the cross. Family may be messy, but it’s so worth it.

Never Forget Your Salvation Aug 29, 2022

In Ephesians 2:1-10, Paul paints a vivid picture of who we were before Christ and who we are after Christ. We were spiritually dead, enslaved to the desires of the body and mind, and condemned to God’s wrath. But this is good news. Why? Because a diagnosis is the first step in treatment, and we have a cure that goes all the way to the root of the problem. In our darkness, Jesus found us and delivered us from the pit by His grace. There’s no better news than that! Join us for week 2 of “Ephesians: Becoming a Real Jesus Community.”

In Ephesus, In Christ Aug 22, 2022
    Show notes

There is a tension in the life of a Christ follower, and that is the tension of being a citizen in two kingdoms: an earthly kingdom and a heavenly one. This can be difficult to navigate because both of these kingdoms have different cultures or ways of doing things. This week, we take look at Ephesians 1. In Ephesians, Paul’s prayer for us is that the eyes of our hearts would be open to who we are in Christ so that we can bring Heaven to our earthly kingdom. Let’s dive into week 1 of “Ephesians: Becoming a Real Jesus Community”!

Understanding the Beauty of Scripture Aug 08, 2022

Psalm 119 is 176 verses of praise for the Word of God. It reminds us of the beauty and wisdom of God’s Word in written form, and it reminds us that we must strive to be people of the Book. The primary way God has chosen to reveal Himself is through His Word, so we better be reading it! Join us for the final week of our series “Summer in the Psalms."

Psalm 37: How to Deal with Wicked People Jul 31, 2022
    Show notes

In Psalm 37, the word “wicked” appears 13 times. Oftentimes, when we see people far from God prospering, it can make us anxious and envious. But Psalm 37 has a lot of wisdom when it comes to our outlook on those who are wicked. We know that ultimately the wicked won’t prosper, and for the righteous, our setbacks are often setups in disguise. Join us for part 9 of Summer in the Psalms with Pastor Willie George.

    Psalm 137: A Prayer from Exile Jul 24, 2022
    Show notes

Some verses in the Psalms are harder to understand than others. That’s why we have to do the hard work of studying context. To imprecate means “to invoke evil upon or curse” one's enemies. Psalm 137 is a prayer of imprecation. It shows us that God wants us to bring the fullness of our emotions to Him, no matter how raw and unfiltered. Different seasons with God require different ways of talking to Him. But honesty in prayer is only the starting line. Don’t miss this powerful message from Blake Zimmerman in week eight of Summer in the Psalms.
