    Episode 452 - 1/2 Mad Poet Nov 17, 2012
    Show notes

Somewhere on the way between the quiet wheat fields of Kansas and the steely towers of Chicago, Anita Chase and Sheela Reddy went just a little bit mad. 1/2 Mad Poet is one part the Who, one part the Donnas, and one part totally unpredictable. Lead vocalist/guitarist Anita Chase pumps crushing power through both microphone and guitar, while bassist/vocalist Sheela Reddy dazzles with funky grooves and a hard rock edge. The pair's explosive energy and irrepressible personalities blend seamlessly to make any audience jump, laugh, and stage-dive along. "I need insurance to play in this band," quips 1/2 Mad Poet. Performing in venues as diverse as FermiLab, art galleries and the local Union hall, 1/2 Mad Poet brings the sparklers and vodka to any party. The rocking feministas have brought their raw, unrelenting sound to nine states, including appearances at Lilith Fair, and charity events for the Kansas Humane Society, Rock the Vote and more. Reddy and Chase, both skilled musicians with backgrounds in everything from punk to gospel, have also recently reinvented their unique sound for more intimate spaces. Their rich acoustic set gives voice to the band's softer, but still undeniably edgy side. "1/2 Mad Poet's music is like snowboarding nude on a glacier somewhere north of Greenland while Swedish chicks in wooden shoes do a Gregorian chant in a tavern named 'Hansel's Place'," said one rabid fan. Chicago band, 1/2 Mad Poet, never fails to deliver a raw and irresistible live experience. Sometimes electric, sometimes acoustic, always a little bit Mad. And don't worry, 1/2 Mad Poet's lives and limbs are fully covered by insurance.
