'In Absentia' Chelsea FanCast #502 Apr 27, 2020
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd and Tim Rolls, author of Diamonds, Dynamos and Devils’ and ‘Stamford Bridge is Falling Down’ to chew the fat over the latest Chelsea news and look back at the 1972-73 season in '50 Years of Chelsea'

On the show tonight, we praise Chelsea’s latest statement on their response to the Covid-19 pandemic but question the media’s reaction. With the rumour of a return to football behind closed doors starting in late June we ask is this the straw that breaks the camel’s back or will absence have made the heart grow fonder. And Olivier Giroud has purportedly signed a new one-year deal, having almost gone in January. But is the intention for him to stay or is it to increase his re-sale value?

In part two and three we continue our '50 Years of Chelsea' series looking back at the 1972-73 season. For many this marks the beginning of the end of the Kings of the Kings Road side. Having made a great start to the league campaign, we finished a disappointing 12th as the title challenge fizzled out after a woeful winter period which also saw us getting knocked out in the semi-finals of the League Cup and quarter finals of the FA Cup.

In part four we wrap up with your emails.

If you enjoyed the discussion about the 1972/73 season, covered in Tim's book, 'Stamford Bridge Is Falling Down' we have a 48 hr special Fancast offer, where the paperback is available through eBay for just £13 inc UK postage. Tim will sign the copy with a dedication too. Link here: http://ebay.us/tdEm5X?cmpnId=5338273189

My Chelsea - Dean Mears Apr 24, 2020
    Show notes

Welcome to a brand-new Chelsea FanCast series to keep you entertained on a Friday evening while there is no actual football to talk about.

One of the things we’ve always wanted to do is to talk in depth about how all of us on the Chelsea FanCast became Chelsea supporters, what our first match was, our favourite matches and players and our best and worst moments following Chelsea, for some of us over 50 years.

It’s been a roller coaster of glorious unpredictability (with apologies to Mark Worrall) and it has most definitely been emotional.

In the fifth episode, Chelsea FanCast's Dean Mears joins Stamford Chidge to talk about his lifelong support of Chelsea including his first game in 1997 and falling in love with the Chelsea Revolution era of Gullit, Vialli and Zola.

Dean takes us through some of his favourite matches, players and highs as a Chelsea fan and some of the lows.

    'A Blue Tomorrow?' Chelsea FanCast #501 Apr 20, 2020
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd and Clayton Beerman to check in with the latest Chelsea news and have look back at Chelsea's past in '50 Years of Chelsea'.

In part one, we ask what will the players pay cut this mean? - How will the Pandemic affect the transfer market? And when is football likely to return and does it matter – have the PL not read the public mood?

In part two and three we continue our '50 Years of Chelsea' series looking back at the 1971-72 season. Hopes for a title challenge were high, but by the end of the season it looked like Chelsea were about to implode.

In part four we wrap up with your emails.

In the third episode, Chelsea FanCast's newest recruit, Dayne Whittle, joins Stamford Chidge to talk about his lifelong support of Chelsea including his first game the seminal 'Chelsea are Back' away trip to Arsenal in August 1984 where Kerry Dixon scored his favourite goal. No surprise that Kerry, Canners, Speedie and Pat Nevin were Dayne's favourite players growing up.

Dayne also takes us through some of his favourite matches, players and highs as a Chelsea fan and some of the lows.

    Show notes

Welcome to a very special two part Chelsea FanCast to celebrate and complement our 500th episode recorded on Monday this week.

Given that we couldn’t get everyone who has contributed to 500 episodes on Monday's live show, we thought the next best thing would be to have a chat with some of the well loved contributors and get their memories of being part of the early days of the FanCast and their view on the momentous occasion of 500 episodes of Chelsea FanCast.

In Chelsea FanCast #500 Special Edition Pt. 2 Stamford Chidge talks to some of the Chelsea FanCast’s favourite guests on the show such as former players Paul Canoville, Kerry Dixon and Jason Cundy; journalists Liam Twomey and Neil ‘Spy’ Barnett, and we doff our hat to the Yanks Beth Wild, formerly the Head of Chelsea in America who helped us spread the FanCast message in the States and the boys from the London is Blue podcast who took us as their inspiration.

To wrap up we have a special message from a long lost much loved Chelsea FanCast legend.

Join Stamford Chidge, Jonathan Kydd, Mark Worrall, Martin Wickham, Dan Silver, Clayton Beerman, Alex Churchill, Tony Glover, Dean Mears and Dayne Whittle to help celebrate the milestone of the 500th Chelsea Fancast!

Wow, 500 episodes who’d have thunk it. Certainly not me when on April 28th 2008 I sat down with a dodgy script, a laptop and a pint of Guinness in the alcove of a bar called Putney Station for the first episode with Dr Mart and Sheridan Bird.

500 episodes and 12 years later, the whole of the current crop of Chelsea FanCasters gather together to celebrate the 500th episode.

Never before have we had so many people on one show, but it seemed absolutely appropriate, but God knows how it will work.

We’ll be having a good old reminisce for most of the show and talking about our memories of 500 episodes and basically having a party, so I hope you’ve all brought a bottle.
