‘Pathetic’ Chelsea FanCast #1126 Apr 08, 2024

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dayne Whittle to look back at a very disappointing draw away to relegation bound Sheffield United.

In part one we discuss one step forward, two steps back again; same shit, different day! By snatching a draw from the jaws of victory against lowly Sheffield Utd Chelsea once again showed a lack of leadership; lack of intensity; lack of ability; lack of football intelligence and a lack of motivation finessed with zero game management. But at least Silva and Madueke's fine goal provided some positives.

In part two we ask questions of Pochettino. Did the change of formation work? Did he get the subs right? And what about his post match comments? Are the players really tired? Should they be? And why do they seem allergic to European qualification? Chelsea right now are reminiscent of the early '90's team poor against teams they should beat and great against teams they are not expected to beat. But should we be more patient? Right now it’s difficult isn't it?

As we all know, it’s the hope that kills you.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1125 Apr 05, 2024

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a crazy win against Man Utd and ahead to Sundays match against Sheffield Utd.

In part one we look back at a crazy win against Man Utd in a euphoric Stamford Bridge. We discuss the great start but we knew it wouldn’t last.Stupid, stupid mistakes again by Moises and Badiashile – is there a case for Silva? The booing Mount and the Enzo v Mount clash. Palmer being superb and Madueke making an impact. And the old adage of never leaving early being proved again. Have Chelsea turned a corner? Nah, let’s just enjoy the joy!

In part two, we welcome back Ben, the Travelling Blade in the Opposition View. We ask Ben has Chris Wilder made a difference? After conceding 80 goals this season, is teh Utd defence the issue? With Utd 10 points off 17th are they down with 8 games left? We wrap up asking Ben how he sees it going & what his prediction is.

In part three, we preview Sheffield Utd v Chelsea. Kicking off with JK's Press Summary followed by Chidge's team selection. Should we stick or twist? Is their a case for Silva? Should Casadei start for Moises?

The big question is will Chelsea a) not be up for it against a struggling team; b) fail to break down a team with a low block; c) shoot ourselves in the foot? Is Europe still within our grasp or should we stop talking about it? We wrap up by discussing how we see it going and give our predictions. And finally, 'They Played for Both'

‘Indefensibly Inept’ Chelsea FanCast #1123 Apr 02, 2024

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dan Silver to look back at Chelsea v Burnley and ahead to Chelsea v Man Utd.

In part one we look at the inept finishing and faiing to break down a team in 19th position who were playing with 10 men for 55 minutes and the indefensible - ot defending the first goal; failing to defend another set piece goal and there should have been a third winning goal. Is the conclusion that some of our players are simply not good enough and likely never will be? We also discuss Neil Barnett's point to Pochettino about the possibility that players aged between 21 and 24 might not make it at a club.

We wrap up part one comparing Chelsea's current midfield to various Chelsea midfield combinations between 1991 and 2024. Is our failure to dominate midfield the root of problem?

In part two we salute Cole Palmer, the exceptional exception and Malo Gusto - two Clearlake signings who are definitely good enough. Frank LeBeouf seems to be channeling his inner JK and is not happy, but where is Poch in all this - is his position now indefensible? And with no European football next season is a storm brewing?

Anyway, bollocks to the football, we had a great day off the pitch on Saturday and Chelsea for us is all about the people we go with and meet throughout the day.

The worse it gets on the pitch the better it seems to be off it. Roll on Thursday!
