Show notes

Chelsea FanCast on Love Sport Radio – the only 100% Chelsea show on the radio! Matt Beadle, Stamford Chidge, Jonathan Kydd and very special guest, Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon!

We look back at the European Super Cup final against Liverpool where Chelsea went toe to toe with the European Champions only to lose on penalties. Tammy Abraham wins the equalising penalty but misses the crucial 5th in the shoot out but can he and will he bounce back? While there was no trophy, it was another good performance showing that Chelsea can compete and can only get better under Frank Lampard. Kerry gives us his view.

Lampard made the right changes after the defeat to Utd and the players improved with impressive performances from Kepa, Pulasic and Mount but the star of the show was the indomitable N'Golo Kante, but does Kerry think he can strike up an effective partnership with Jorginho and what does he think of the man scapegoated under Sarri?

In this weeks 'Legend of the week' sponsored by Classic Football Shirts, we choose Pat Nevin, one of the most skilful and well loved Chelsea players of all time. Who better to talk about 'Wee Pat' than Kerry Dixon, a man who profited massively from Nevin's assists.

Kerry also discusses some of his favourite moments from his illustrious career; his best Chelsea players; best Chelsea managers; most difficult opponents and his hopes for Chelsea this season.

Looking back at last weekend's opening fixture against Man Utd, should Lampard have selected older heads above eager youngsters? Should Chelsea have been more cautious? How do we address the implosions and is a lack of physicality an issue?

Leicester fan, Jake Watson, joins us on the phone for 'Opposition View' to discuss Chelsea's opponents in the Premier League this Sunday. Are Leicester genuine contenders for a top 6 finish this season under Brendan Rogers? Will they regret selling Harry Maguire to Man Utd and what are their prospects against Chelsea this weekend.

Finally, we discuss the excitement of the first home match of the season; the abuse of Tammy Abraham on social media and Chelsea v Leicester this Sunday with our predictions.

'Harsh but Four' Chelsea FanCast #467 Aug 12, 2019

Show notes

Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd and Tony Glover as the Chelsea FanCast returns to look back at Chelsea's first Premier League match of the season, a 4-0 defeat away to Man Utd.

On the show tonight we look at the negatives and the positives from the 4-0 defeat away to Utd and ask were we unlucky or naïve?

In part two, we get down to brass tacks and ask was the defeat a timely reminder of where we are this season? How much do we need the likes of Kante, Willian and Rudiger back? Is Chelsea’s proclivity to implode a concern and why we think there is no need to panic.

In part three, we look ahead to Wednesday night’s European Super Cup final against Liverpool in Istanbul. We ask How important is the Super Cup? Will Frank take it seriously? Who will he start with? Can we beat Liverpool and how damaging would another heavy defeat be? And is Istanbul a trip too far?

In part four we have your emails to read out for the first time this season.

Chelsea FanCast on Love Sport Radio – the only 100% Chelsea show on the radio! Matt Beadle, Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd on David Luiz's departure to Arsenal and looking ahead to Chelsea's opening Premier League fixture away to Man Utd. Plus this week's 'Legend of the Week' sponsored by classicfootballshirts.com.

As the transfer window closed, Chelsea supporters were shocked to hear that David 'Geezer' Luiz was on his way to Arsenal, or Geezer to Gooner if you prefer. Has Luiz been disloyal going to Arsenal? If Lampard has exerted his authority has player power ended? Will Chelsea be weaker or stronger without Luiz?

Looking ahead to Chelsea's eagerly anticipated opening Premier League match away to old rivals Man Utd we ask what will the starting eleven be? How do we beat Utd and do we have any concerns about them? We also discuss Chelsea's superb record at Old Trafford before giving our predictions.

Show notes

Chelsea FanCast on Love Sport Radio – the only 100% Chelsea show on the radio! Matt Beadle, Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd. As Chelsea's pre-season draws to a close we ask has it revealed some concerns up front and at the back and are Chelsea ready for the season ahead? Plus this week's 'Legend of the Week' sponsored by classicfootballshirts.com.

With Chelsea beating Reading 4:3 and Salzburg 5:3 is it a case of "We’ll score 1 more than you!" We discuss Pedro’s wonder goal and Ross Barkley coming in to his own. But while Chelsea are scoring goals is the front line still a weakness and who will replace Hazard’s goals?

While Chelsea are scoring for fun, they are also leaking goals – is this a concern? Will we be happy to win every game 3-2 this season? Is Luiz still vulnerable in a 4:2:3:1? Which is the best Central defensive out of combo Luiz, Zouma, Christensen, Rudiger? And what of the Full backs? Who'll get the nod: Azpi, Alonso, Emerson, Kenedy or eventually Reece James?

Chelsea have a number of walking wounded - with Willian & Kante the biggest concerns due back for the Utd match but are we happy with the squad? We also look at BT Sport's crazy computer predictions. Is it all a bit of fun or complete madness?

Who will lead Chelsea's front line - Tammy, Michy or Giroud? And with Chelsea playing Reading on Sunday, is this more of an Old Skool pre-season game?
