Have you ever been up ____'s creek with credit card debt? Have you ever felt overwhelmed financially? Like you were generally heading in the right direction, but it still wasn't quick enough, and you knew you would be paying high interest rates for way too long?

I was way up ____'s creek without a paddle with credit card debt when I was in my 20's and had 2 little mouths to feed. I remember the tension this feeling of overwhelm brought to my household. I also remember wanting to get out of debt but would still make purchase/life decisions contrary to what I said I 110% WANTED?!?!?

That was until I enrolled in Financial Peace University! Here is the link if you are not just currently paying high puppy interest:) https://www.daveramsey.com/fpu#in-progress=0

In this podcast I talk about how similar the psychology is between your modern day puppy owner and the modern day consumer. Most importantly I talk about getting real with yourself, so you can get real results. I want you to feel how I felt after I took that course...Just in this context it is Puppy Peace University!!

Puppy Trouble in Paradise! part 2 Jun 07, 2019
    Show notes

I am a huge proponent of doggie daycares. Heck, I own them (FB & IG link below)!

Doggie Daycares are great for your puppy's development on multiple fronts. Daycares provide multiple forms of socialization for your puppy: human, environmental, canine, confinement, weather just to name a few. They can be just as nice for you as they are for your puppy. You should be able to feel good entrusting the care of your Champion to a canine care provider expecting a tired, biologically fulfilled dog at the end of your long day. Still, you might have some hiccups as you are navigating your way through the doggie daycare experience.

Part 1 of this 2 part podcast dissects one of my clients situation when she got that dreaded call that her 3.5 month old puppy was being aggressive?!?!?

Part 2 will help make you a more insightful owner who will better be able to partner with your local doggie daycare.

Get Your Puppy to Play the Coming When Called Game Apr 19, 2019

If your puppy isn't excited and having fun, your results will suffer

Dogs have the mental capacity of a 2, maybe a 3 year old max. They are curious, inquisitive, fun loving, little balls of energy. Let me teach you how to put your puppy's energy, brains and instincts to work for you.

    Hide & Seek Recall

My Puppy Still Isn't Coming When Called? part 2 Apr 12, 2019
    Show notes

    Take-Aways:

    Pressure/Present (problem/present)

So, you're sticking to the Champion Puppy Training System's recall script, but your puppy still isn't responding as you'd hope?

Well, if puppy training was easy:

    -I wouldn't have a job:(

-Everyone would have a well-trained dog

-You wouldn't appreciate your dog as much

-I would have just made one podcast

You need to know you will hit barriers. You need to determine to get through them. You need to be on a quest of understanding and looking for the "road block work around."

    Leash Pressure Practical Usage:

    • Overcoming recall deficiencies
    • Retrieval
    • Developing your puppy's chewing focus
    • Improving your puppy's guidability (coachability, being more "go with the flow')
    • Walking on a Loose Leash
    • Compliance Training (sit here and do nothing even if you'd rather not)

How to Get Your Puppy to Come When Called Mar 29, 2019
    Show notes

    The Recall Script

(This gets your puppy to you so you can then do the look command, food throw or stay)

    Prep-step 1)

    Get a good stance:

    -dominant leg forward

    -feet shoulder with apart

-front foot pointed at 1 o'clock

-back foot pointed at 3 o'clock

    -slight bend in the knees

    -elbows glued to your ribs

-hands slightly out in front of your lower mid-section

-dominant hand holding the handle of your small dog 6-foot leash

-non-dominant hand over top of your leash hand

    Prep-step 2) Create space:

    • Guide your puppy away from you
    • Throw some food
    • Use a decoy distraction (another person for example)
    • Put your puppy into a sit-stay-stare (keep listening I'll explain in future podcasts)

Part 1: GET YOUR PUPPY'S ATTENTION

    • Turn your 6 ft leash into an 8 ft leash
    • Say your puppy's name
    • Pop the leash

Part 2: GET YOUR PUPPY TO YOU WITH MOMENTUM

    • Start praising your dog while moving backward. Use your one hand to feed the other the excess leash. Make sure to keep just a little slack on the leash unless your puppy stops.
    • If your puppy stops extend your arm straight while leaning back applying constant, but lightly growing leash pressure while pulsating (kid leaving the playground)
    • Once he adjusts or looks at you immediately let off the pressure while simultaneously moving backwards while praising again. You might do steps 5 & 6 multiple times, it's okay and an expected part of the learning process.

    Part 3: DOCKING

    • As he is about 2 feet from you take a half of step in while at the exact same time put pressure straight up on the leash.
    • Once your puppy begins to sit immediately start to remove the pressure. Your puppy might change his mind while in the process of sitting. This is fine and can be expected. You will apply pressure the second your puppy stops moving in the sitting motion and release the second he starts again.
    • The second he sits say, "yes" and then reward.

Get your Puppy to Focus Outside part 3 Mar 22, 2019
    Show notes

Tired of your puppy pulling you toward any little thing that catches it's senses outside? At the very least it is annoying. Even worse, you might be developing an adult dog that can't chill the heck out that either has it's nose and mouth on the ground or lunging at distractions.

What if you aggressively gave money and time to every little thing that got on your radar? Image how jacked up your thought process and life would be! Well, let's teach your puppy to let things go in it's environment and focus on you.

This is the first step in having a dog that just chills around distractions.
