    Chakras and Shotguns

Chakras and Shotguns is a wellness podcast hosted by Mik and Jenn, a married couple who ditched their corporate jobs to become healers.  Jenn’s a former corporate lawyer, now yoga instructor, Tarot card reader and medium. Mik’s a former brand marketer, now a Reiki Master, Shaman, life coach and prepper.

And yes, we know Chakras and Shotguns sounds like an odd combo, but it’s all about balance and the duality of life! “Chakras” symbolizes your spiritual journey towards enlightenment, while “shotguns” represents your need for security and protection in this crazy world.

Get ready for some fun conversations about astrology, growing your own veggies, manifesting your dreams, solar panels, energy healing, cosmic beings, and even unlocking your psychic powers. And, of course, you’ll hear about that one time Mik and Jenn braved a powerful winter storm thanks to their prepper skills.

If you’re looking for a podcast that will help you become a more secure interdimensional being, then Chakras and Shotguns is for you.

E24: Men Lie, Women Lie, Spirit Don't - Using Discernment to Weed Out Scammers Nov 22, 2021
    Show notes

    Send a text

If you're active on social media, it feels like every other day someone is outed as a scammer, an abuser or a master manipulator. And if they were in the spiritual space? Yuck. In this episode, Mik and Jenn get into the red flags that might signal scammers are lurking, but more importantly, how to use your intuition to sniff out who might not be genuine.
Some things we talked about in this episode:

    • Jenn recently read a really interesting article about a California town having a water crisis and the steps that they’re taking to conserve. You can read it on Bloomberg.
    • In that same article, one town offered their residents 50% off on Flume, a smart device that monitors your water usage at your house. You can find the product on their website and more information about water conservation on their Instagram.
    • You can read more about Dana Chanel and her case with the Pennsylvania Attorney General on Buzzfeed News.
    • Full length David Taylor Deposition
    • The Lula Rich docuseries is a wild ride. You can watch on Amazon Prime.
    • Enneagram research paper
    • We Seduced on Starz, which is a docuseries about the NXIVM cult. There is another docuseries on NXIVM called The Vow on HBO Max. We won’t link it because one of the producers was in the cult and may have downplayed his role (WTF?).
    • The Guru Jagat story that Jenn mentioned is detailed on Insider.
    • We also wanted to bring back therapy resources for anyone who may have encountered spiritual abuse: Open Path Collective | TherapyForBlackMen | Talkspace
    • In our “As Seen on TV” segment, we wrapped up with the amazing documentary that we watched called Fantastic Fungi. It’s really a MUST. SEE.

E23: Protect Ya Neck: Working with Herbs and Energetics for Better Health feat. Kira Buckley Nov 15, 2021
    Show notes

    Send a text

Baby, it's (getting) cold outside! You're out here, trying to keep yourself healthy and tell any yucky colds and flu to keep it pushin'. But could you be doing more? We invited Kira Buckley, of HeyyHealer, to talk about how we can better take care of ourselves as temperatures get cooler. Curious about integrating herbs and supplements into your daily regimen? Want to know what a session with an herbalist look like? Press play.
You can see more from Kira on her website, Instagram or Facebook.

Kira was so gracious to give us her fire cider recipe! Some people like to bury their fire cider jar in the ground for a month and then dig it up during a great feast to celebrate the changing of the seasons.

    Ingredients

    • 1 medium organic onion, chopped
    • 10 cloves of organic garlic, crushed or chopped
    • 2 organic jalapeno peppers, chopped
    • Zest and juice from 1 organic lemon
    • 1/2 cup fresh grated organic ginger root
    • 1/2 cup fresh grated organic horseradish root
    • 1 Tbsp. Turmeric powder
    • 1/4 tsp. Cayenne powder
    • 2 Tbsp. of dried Rosemary leaves
    • Organic apple cider vinegar (enough to cover roots, fruits and herbs)
    • 1/4 cup of raw, local honey, or to taste

    Directions

    1. Prepare your roots, fruits, and herbs and place them in a quart-sized glass jar. If you've never grated fresh horseradish, be prepared for a powerful sinus-opening experience!
    2. Pour the apple cider vinegar in the jar until all of the ingredients are covered and the vinegar reaches the jar's top.
    3. Use a piece of natural parchment paper under the lid to keep the vinegar from touching the metal, or a plastic lid if you have one. Shake well.
    4. Store in a dark, cool place for a month and remember to shake daily.
    5. After one month, use cheesecloth to strain out the pulp, pouring the vinegar into a clean jar. Be sure to squeeze as much of the liquidy goodness as you can from the pulp while straining.
    6. Next comes the honey. Add and stir until incorporated.
    7. Taste your cider and add more honey until you reach the desired sweetness.

E22: Ultralight Beam - An Introduction to Reiki and Universal Life Force Energy Nov 08, 2021
    Show notes

    Send a text

Have you heard about energy work but thought it was just an episode of Dragonball Z? In this episode, Mik and Jenn explore the roots and principles of Reiki, a Japanese form of energy healing, that can have profound effects on the physical, emotional and spiritual body. Mik and Jenn talk through their own Reiki stories and describe how a Reiki session goes down. Mik finishes up with a "It Was All a Dream" story of his own and reveals why he left Whataburger in the rearview.
Some things we talked about in this episode:

    • Want to start studying to get your Reiki attunement? Mik mentioned the book that we used, REIKI: LEVEL I, II AND MASTER MANUAL by Lisa Powers
    • We’re taking baby steps toward being more green and sustainable! With the issues in the global supply chain, you never know when products can become scarce, so we try to move from one-use products as much as possible (as we take baby steps toward being more green). Jenn mentioned these reusable cleaning cloths that we use to get away from depending too much on paper towels.

    Show notes

    Send a text

Mik and Jenn finally get to the Enneagram! We've been teasing it for a while, well since the trailer, but this episode jumps into the 9 types of the Enneagram and how we all are interconnected. We nerd out a little bit with some history, talk about our own experiences with self-discovery and get all into some celebrity's business.
Some things we talked about in this episode:

    • We’ve launched our Patreon! We’re so excited to build a community with you all and create special content! You can support the show here.
    • We talked about a foundational book that we liked when learning more about the Enneagram, THE WISDOM OF THE ENNEAGRAM by Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson*
    • How to find your type? Our favorite (and free!) way? We recommend reading through the descriptions on The Enneagram Institute website until you feel like someone just told all of your business (and the description reads TF out of you).
    • One of Jenn’s favorite podcasts that she listened to when first getting to know the Enneagram was The Enneacast (Apple, Spotify). FYI, it is put together through a Christian lens.
    • We finished up with a friendly prepping reminder to start thinking through how you’re getting you and yours through winter. Want to be prepared for a winter storm? Check out Episodes….
      • Episode 3 - Thirst Trap (water preparedness)
      • Episode 7 - Where We Bout to Eat At? (all about food storage)
