Show notes

On this week's Litecast we cover the news that Breece Hall is opting out of the Cheez-It Bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft. With his Iowa State career officially over that gave us the chance to reminisce on his best games as a Cyclone. We also attempted to answer the question of what Iowa State should do with the #28 going forward. There are a few options worth exploring for sure.
Next, we look back at the regular season and hand out our superlatives for topics such as best play, worst play, offensive MVP, defensive MVP, favorite Texas loss and so much more! Last but not least, we go through some of the weirdest moments in the last week of the NBA and finish off 2021 with a Hawks-Mavs trade update. Thanks to Es Tas Bar & Grill for sponsoring!

It's a 2 man episode this week as Austin and Dylan discuss Iowa State's dominant wins in both the men's and women's CyHawk games. We start on the women's side, as we were impressed by the team effort with Ashley Joens struggling. Hilton also made a huge impact with the stands full. As for the men, there was plenty to celebrate. We recap Izaiah Brockington's continued excellence, a possible player comp for Tyrese Hunter, and how enjoyable it is to win with defense.
Iowa State had some entrants to the transfer portal, but we aren't super concerned. College football in 2021 is wild. We also discuss some of Texas' activities and the Quinn Ewers transfer. Lastly, 'tis the season as we roast some of the worst Christmas music out there. Thanks to our sponsor Es Tas Bar & Grill! Cyclone State!

After quick wrestling update, we welcome on fellow WRNL contributor Sean Dee to talk all things basketball. We center most of the talk on the upcoming CyHawk game, players to watch for, and where Iowa State can find success. In the big picture, we're excited about the progress of the team in Year 1 of Otz (of course), but we try to figure out what's sustainable and where we can improve. Lastly, we try out hand at creating a Rothstein-ism for TJ Otzelberger and the Cyclones. Thanks to Es Tas Bar & Grill for sponsoring!

The Litecast is back from a Thanksgiving food coma. We recap Iowa State's dominant win on Senior Day against TCU before tackling the obvious thing on everyone's mind: the coaching carousel. Namely, we talk over Lincoln Riley's surprising move to USC and the Notre Dame job opening up. Matt Campbell's name will obviously be in play, and we do the best we can to cope with that while staying positive. At the very least, we trust Jamie Pollard and that max effort has been made to keep Coach Campbell around.
Iowa State men's basketball is somehow ranked in November and we're ready to discuss recalibrating our expectation. Plus, uncovering the ponzi scheme that is Flo Sports, Fran Fraschilla on ISU games, and power ranking Ames pizza restaurants. Presented by Es Tas Bar & Grill!

The Litecast is back for one more time before Thanksgiving as the crew breaks down Iowa State's 28-21 loss at Oklahoma. We're not mad, just disappointed. We try to make sense of why we can't block and why we don't throw 3rd down routes past the sticks. As this disappointing season comes to a close, it's time to look at the future and break down Hunter Dekkers' first extended run in a game plus if anyone will sit out the bowl game.
Beyond Iowa State football, we talk through some CFP scenarios, expansion possibilities, and hit the coaching carousel. We're used to breaking down Matt Campbell but why not do it again?
The podcast then goes all the way off the rails as we discuss fun Iowa State basketball, breaking hollow records, and a bad teammate alert in Detroit after the Lakers-Pistons brawl. Enjoy the holiday!
