A disturbing moment, during an otherwise-joyful Oscars ceremony last night -- when actor Will Smith jumped on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock -- after a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith then returned to his seat, but continued to shout at Rock, appearing to be very angry. A short time later, Smith won the Best Actor Oscar for the film "King Richard" -- and gave an emotional speech, in which he seemed to defend his actions. Many people are asking what President Biden meant when he said Russia's president "cannot remain in power." The president ad-libbed that remark during a speech in Poland on Saturday, where he met with Ukrainian refugees. Mr. Biden and other officials say he did not mean to call for regime change in Moscow. Fighting continued through the weekend, with Russia focusing most on capturing territory in eastern Ukraine, including the devastated city of Mariupol.

At least six people were killed in this Russian attack on a shopping mall in Kyiv -- the latest of many acts of violence which appear to be targeting civilians. In the hard-hit city of Mariupol, hundreds of miles southeast of the capital, Russia offered to let civilians escape if Ukraine would let it take over the city. Ukraine's government said no. The U.S. Supreme Court says Justice Clarence Thomas is in the hospital, but should be released in the next few days. The court says the 73-year-old was experiencing flu-like symptoms. Top seed Arizona nearly got an early ticket home before beating Texas Christian. Other teams were not so lucky.
