111: Rockstar!!! DAMON JOHNSON
Jun 22, 2021
Show notesDamon Johnson has been a triple threat…guitarist, singer, songwriter…since his early days fronting Brother Cane and scoring three #1 singles at rock radio in the 90s (“Got No Shame”, “And Fools Shine On”, and “I Lie In The Bed I Make”). With that band, he honed his craft with relentless touring and support slots with the likes of Van Halen, Aerosmith and Robert Plant. Since then Johnson has co-written songs for Stevie Nicks, Carlos Santana, Steven Tyler, and Sammy Hagar. After a short stint working with British vocalist John Waite, Johnson toured the world for several years as guitarist for Alice Cooper and in 2011 he joined legendary Irish rock group, Thin Lizzy. In 2013 the core of that band morphed into a new group, Black Star Riders, and released three well-received albums. Johnson has had several solo releases since 2010, including ‘Memoirs Of An Uprising’ (2019). Damon Johnson & The Get Ready released ‘Battle Lessons‘ on Johnson’s own Double Dragon Records imprint in early 2021.

106: Ayron Jones
May 18, 2021
Show notes
Guitarist & singer Ayron Jones whose songwriting is filled with raw emotion is the new sound of Seattle. The gritty, genre-blending artist is an amalgam of the incredibly rich history of the city from Jimi Hendrix to Nirvana. Cultivating a robust following in the Pacific Northwest, cementing himself as a Seattle name and earning the embrace of the city’s musical royalty including Duff McKagan, Mike McCready, and more - his independent rise allowed him to hone his creative vision before signing with Big Machine/John Varvatos Records on the next step of his musical and creative journey. His debut single “Take Me Away” cemented that vision and chart topping success, hitting Top 5 at Rock Radio and setting the bar for singles to come, including his latest “Mercy.” Jones penned the song last summer alongside Marty Frederickson and Scott Stevens, and by that point, during one of the most tumultuous years in recent American history, the whole world appeared to be on fire. The song, full of charged lyrics and melodies, strongly captures a collective consciousness of the time. It is also, though, underscored by a vision of hope and endurance: through it all, we persevere.

However, within a few months, they left their safe and familiar family homes in Frankenmuth, Michigan, and entered a whole new – and entirely unanticipated – whirlwind of a world. After 246 sold-out tour dates in 13 countries over five continents, four consecutive #1 singles, an SNL appearance, a "Best Rock Album" Grammy Award, a personal phone call from Elton John inviting them to perform at his Academy Awards Viewing Party. Now they release their highly anticipated sophomore album, THE BATTLE AT GARDEN'S GATE, out now!!!
