Joseph is seventeen, the favorite son in a complicated family, and God gives him a dream that nobody around him is ready to hear. The reaction is fast and brutal. By the end of Genesis 37, Joseph is sold by his own brothers and headed to Egypt. The dream God gave him is still alive. The people closest to him are not.

For parents listening with your kids: this episode is a doorway into a real conversation about what to do when the people in your child's life don't celebrate what God is doing in them. We name the pain honestly and we anchor it in who God says they are.
