    Amplifying Black Voices: R. Renee Hess Mar 29, 2021
    Show notes

    R. Renee Hess is the Founder and Executive Director of Black Girl Hockey Club. Hess discusses her first hockey game, the genesis of the Club, the transition to a non-profit organization and the impact of the Get Uncomfortable campaign. Hess shares her feelings on anti-racism efforts in hockey and fondly recounts her visit to Raleigh and PNC Arena in Feb. 2020.

    Black Girl Hockey Club was founded by R. Renee Hess in 2018 to create a community space for Black women in hockey. Visit their website to learn more about Black Girl Hockey Club and take the Get Uncomfortable pledge, which aims to disrupt racism on and off the ice and make hockey welcoming for everyone.

    Amplifying Black Voices is a CanesCast podcast series that elevates stories from the Black community in and around hockey in an effort to promote diversity and inclusion.
