What a long, strange draft it was | Day to meet with media Tuesday Apr 28, 2025

Ohio State came within one pick of tying the all-time NFL Draft record over the weekend, but "only" 14 Buckeyes were drafted. We were pleasantly surprised in the first round when four OSU players came off the board, the most of any program this year. We also liked seeing three Buckeyes drafted in the second round. But then some strange things began to happen. Jack Sawyer falling to the fourth round? No one saw that coming. Will Howard falling to the sixth round and being drafted behind quarterbacks such as Dillon Gabriel and Kyle McCord? Seth McLaughlin going undrafted? Is the Rimington Award winner even allowed to be undrafted? Apparently so.

But hey, it was still an excellent draft for the Buckeyes and we are going to talk about it on today's show. Also, OSU head coach Ryan Day will meet with the media tomorrow (Tuesday) which will be his first press conference since the relatively brief one following the spring game.

Buckeyes lead way with four first-round picks Apr 25, 2025

Well, that was unexpected. And awesome. In a year where Ohio State was supposed to dominate the second night of the draft (rounds 2-3) -- which will still happen to some degree -- the Buckeyes actually had more first rounders than anyone else with four. Most analysts only had wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and offensive tackle Josh Simmons projected as first rounders. Both of them did go in the opening round, and so did offensive lineman Donovan Jackson and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams. Ohio State has now produced 95 first-round draft picks all time, the most of any program.

Both NFL.com and The Athletic are predicting that 15 Ohio State players will be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, which would tie the all-time record. Might the Buckeyes actually reach 16 and own the crown all to themselves? Also, will DE transfer Beau Atkinson be a Buckeye?
