Miyan leaving others in ruins? | Tyler Friday over Zach Harrison at DE? Mar 05, 2021
    Show notes

It is Friday and it is time for some hot takes. Is Miyan Williams the favorite to emerge as Ohio State's starting running back when the dust settles? Will Tyler Friday start ahead of Zach Harrison at defensive end? Jonah Booker joins Dave Biddle for the Friday 5ish and JBook is coming strong with opinions on position battles that will be facing the Buckeyes during spring ball, who will be the top-four teams in the Big Ten in 2021 and much more.

Cornered market | Passing on passer Mar 04, 2021
    Show notes

Here's a stat that works: The last four out-of-state corners to begin their career at Ohio State and earn a starting spot have been picked in the NFL's first round: Brad Roby, Eli Apple, Damon Arnette and Jeffrey Okudah. Just for good measure, three Ohio native corners have also been taken in the first round during that stretch.

It does appear Floridian cornerback Shaun Wade will be picked in the second round. Oh, the calamity.

Still, it's an unbelievable recruiting arrow in Ohio State's quiver. It's likely a big reason why the Class of 2022 already boasts Floridian Jaheim Singletary and Louisianan by way of suburban Cincy in Jyaire Brown.

And know this: Ohio State is not done. Corners from Florida and Texas have made Buckeye-related news recently.

247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong is here to address that and also hit on a wide receiver and quarterback headed elsewhere.

2 weeks, 2 days until spring ball | Roles for Rhoads, Fitch Mar 03, 2021
    Show notes

We now know exactly when Ohio State will begin spring football. The Buckeyes will kick off spring drills on Friday, March 19 -- which is just two weeks and two days from today. Then spring ball will culminate with the spring game on Saturday, April 17 at Ohio Stadium. Will there be fans in the stands? Well, athletic director Gene Smith says a final decision has not been made on that front, but one person who thinks fans should definitely be allowed inside the Horseshoe for the spring game is Matt Baxendell.

Bax joins Dave Biddle on today's show to discuss all of that, the roles of new analysts Paul Rhoads and Todd Fitch, what to expect from OSU's rivals to the north in 2021 (is this Jim Harbaugh's final year?) and much more on the Wednesday 5ish.

Transfer time ... or not? | Going back to Cali Mar 02, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State has a roster basically every other college football team covets. But that doesn't mean it's a finished product. Not at all.

So should the Buckeyes pursue a transfer at ... say ... cornerback? Should they pursue an elite tight end now available?

Duane Long is here to let you know when it's right to take a transfer ... and when it's time to pass. Several high-profile exits prompted this chat.

We also do a deep dive on Mater Dei wide receiver C.J. Williams, the California star with an offer list that halts traffic.

    Monday smorgasbord Mar 01, 2021
    Show notes

March is here and the Monday 5ish is loaded with information and opinions on Ohio State football (and a little on basketball too). Patrick Murphy joins Dave Biddle and the following is on the agenda:

    * The Buckeyes landing four-star wide receiver Kyion Grayes on Sunday, giving them 11 commitments in their 2022 class and extending their lead over LSU for the No. 1 class in the nation.

    * How will the transfer portal affect Ohio State's roster this offseason, both in terms of arrivals and departures?

    * Who is Patrick's pick to win Ohio State's quarterback competition between CJ Stroud, Jack Miller and Kyle McCord?

    * Speaking of QB compeitions, Michigan added transfer Alan Bowman from Texas Tech. We give our thoughts on that and about the state of the program in Ann Arbor.

    * Ohio State's basketball team certainly is not beginning March feeling good about themselves. They were smoked by Iowa on Sunday and have now lost three straight games.

All of that and more is coming you way on the Monday 5ish.

JBook on what Dave got wrong on projected depth chart for Buckeyes Feb 26, 2021
    Show notes

Over the last couple of days, I posted a projected spring depth chart for Ohio State on both sides of the ball. On today's show, Jonah Booker drops by for his usual Friday visit to tell me where I was wrong. And where I was right. But telling me where I was wrong is more fun.

And you can join in on the fun on the Friday 5ish for that and much more.

Encore performance underway Feb 25, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State secured Class of 2021 commitments from four of 247Sports' top 10 players and remains in the running for No. 1-ranked J.T. Tuimoloau.

Here's great news: You can expect an encore performance. The Buckeyes already have Class of 2022's No. 1-ranked Quinn Ewers in the fold. Fellow Texan Caleb Burton, the No. 9-ranked prospect, is also Columbus bound.

But wait ... there's more. Possibly a lot more. 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong is here to share buzz on where the top uncommitted prospects are considering and let's just say Ohio State came up ... multiple times.

Who will win key position battles for Buckeyes? | Latest on Tuimoloau Feb 24, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State will kick off spring practice next month and on today's show, Matt Baxendell joins Dave Biddle to take a look at some of the key position battles facing the Buckeyes and which players might prevail in those competitions. Ohio State will have five new starters on offense and six new starters on defense in 2021.

Also, what is the latest on the recruitment of 5-star defensive lineman J.T. Tuimoloau? All of that and more is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish.

Nekkid Jaunt offer | Three Buckeyes on the spot | Ohio State vs. B1G on trail Feb 23, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State's staff can't hit the road to recruit but is still spreading the love.

An offer to a Florida defensive back went out yesterday. Who is he and what does Duane Long think of him?

    Also:

    * Duane gives you three Buckeyes that have seen the field in their career but need to step it up to do so again. It's his three 'on the spot.'

    * We also take a look at who is available in the transfer portal in the new rankings before 247Sports Midwest Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu joins to quantify the gap between Ohio State and the rest of the B1G on the recruiting trail.

Spring ball storylines for Buckeyes | Fans in stands? | Hoops notes Feb 22, 2021
    Show notes

Spring football will kick off for Ohio State sometime in mid-March and Steve Helwagen joins Dave Biddle to discuss the main storylines for the Buckeyes from a personnel standpoint. In particular, what can fans expect at quarterback, running back, linebacker and cornerback?

Also, will there be fans at the spring game? What about during the 2021 season itself?

And we close the show talking about OSU basketball. The Buckeyes fell just short against Michigan on Sunday, but it was a great game.

All of that and more is coming your way on the Monday 5ish.
