Buckeyes continue to get good CFP news | What's up with the O-line? Nov 10, 2021
    Show notes

The Wednesday podcast features Gee Scott Sr. and there is plenty to discuss as he joins Dave Biddle. Ohio State moved up to No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings and there appears to be no doubt that if the Buckeyes win out, they're in. Also on the docket:

    * Is Mr. Scott surprised Oklahoma is ranked No. 8, behind four one-loss teams?

    * Ohio State's defense is coming around. They are now No. 47 in total defense and No. 19 in scoring defense.

    * Does C.J. Stroud need to be somewhat of a threat to run in order for OSU to achieve its goals this season?

    * Jaxon Smith-Njigba is coming off one of the best performances by a WR in Ohio State history. Mr. Scott is not surprised.

    * The Buckeyes' offensive line seems to be struggling. Why?

    * Thoughts on the matchup with Purdue, who is ranked No. 19 in the CFP.

All of that and more is coming your way on a loaded version of the Wednesday 5ish.

'We've got to break some patterns' | CFP berth for Buckeyes Nov 09, 2021
    Show notes

All goals remain. That's the macro look at Ohio State.

Duane Long is here to take on the micro.

    * With a few days to soak it in ... what do we make of the win over Nebraska?

    * The Buckeyes offense has dominated lesser opponents and done just enough against more formidable foes. What's the deal?

    * How does Michigan State's loss to Purdue affect your view of the rest of the season. Also ... what does Duane think of Purdue?

    * College Football Playoff rankings will be updated later this evening. Will the Buckeyes move up into the top four?

All that and more as we tackle Tuesday.

Matt Barnes to run Buckeyes' defense in future seasons too? Nov 08, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State's defense continues to make strides in the right direction. The Buckeyes lead the nation in sacks and have simply been better overall since Matt Barnes took over as the shot caller. If this continues, is it as simple as Ryan Day will officially promote Barnes to defensive coordinator next season? Are we getting ahead of ourselves? Of course. That's what we do around here.

On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is coming off one of the best performances for an OSU wide receiver in the history of the program. That's obviously excellent news. The not-so-good news is the offensive line has now struggled in back-to-back performances in the run blocking department. What is to make of the offensive moving forward this season?

Also, the Buckeyes will face off against Purdue this Saturday at the Horseshoe. What are thoughts on this matchup?

All of that and more is coming your way on the Monday 5ish as Steve Helwagen joins Dave Biddle.

Almost Live: Is good enough ... good enough? Nov 07, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State got the job done in Lincoln early Saturday afternoon with a 26-17 win over host Nebraska.

The most important result: All season goals remain intact.

But let's try and provide some context here. Where are the Buckyes on their quest for B1G and CFP titles?

What did we learn about the crew in Lincoln?

What can expect going forward from Purdue (the next opponent) and the rest of the slate?

We called in The People's Champ -- Matt Baxendell -- to put the win in perspective before a deep dive into B1G and national results from yesterday.

Where can Buckeyes improve the most? | Nebraska predictions Nov 05, 2021
    Show notes

With four games remaining in the regular season, where can Ohio State improve the most on each side of the ball. Jonah Booker joins Dave Biddle for his usual Friday visit to discuss that, plus:

    * Give predictions on the Buckeyes' matchup at Nebraska tomorrow.

    * Was JBook surprise that OSU was ranked No. 5 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings?

All of that and more is coming your way on the Friday 5ish.

The In-or-Out Game with Wiltfong | CFP, Husker vibes Nov 04, 2021
    Show notes

It's time again for your favorite recruiting exercise: 'The In-or-Out Game' with 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong.

When it comes to this game, simple is good. We give Wiltfong a name remaining on Ohio State's Class of 2022 recruiting board. The question: As of RIGHT NOW, are they in the class or out?

We hit all the names in order of 247Sports Composite rating - 15 names in all.

That's not all. We get Wiltfong's College Football Playoff selection vibes before talking Buckeyes-Huskers with the trip to Lincoln looming.

'Win and in, period' Nov 03, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State received very good news when the initial College Football Playoff rankings of 2021 were released last night. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 5, meaning if they win out, they will be in the CFP. Matt Baxendell joins Dave Biddle to discuss that and much more on the Wednesday 5ish.

Penn State hangover? | Recruiting bonanza review Nov 02, 2021
    Show notes

We've had a few days to think about it. What do we make of the win over Penn State?

We know what the national vibe is: Ohio State was the only top 25 team to win on Saturday ... and drop in the rankings released yesterday. Ohio State won ... dropped one spot. Penn State lost ... dropped two spots. Makes sense.

Duane Long is here to offer his perspective: What to make of the win? What does it mean going forward?

ALSO: Ohio State's red carpet guest list was a true stunner. Duane lets you know who he's focused on as the trail heats up down the stretch.

Buckeyes drop in AP poll; where will they be in CFP rankings? Nov 01, 2021
    Show notes

Ohio State beat Penn State 33-24, but fell a spot in the AP poll. The rankings that really matter -- those from the College Football Playoff committee -- will be released on Tuesday. Where will the Buckeyes be ranked? Will they be sixth like they are in the AP poll? Fifth like the Coaches poll? Higher? Lower?

Patrick Murphy joins Dave Biddle on today's show to discuss that, plus:

    * Additional thoughts on the win over the Nittany Lions. What did we like from the Buckeyes? What did we not like?

    * Why is C.J. Stroud showing no willingness to run? Is that coming from the coaches, or does he simply have no interest in running?

All of that and more is coming your way on the Monday 5ish.
