On today's show, Matt Baxendell joins Dave Biddle to discuss the following:
** With the Notre Dame game just 10 days away, Ohio State is back at full strength at cornerback. What are expectations from this group? Overall, the Buckeyes appear to have a very strong secondary.
** Cam Martinez is the backup slot safety behind Tanner McCalister, but Martinez is also repping some at corner to add depth there.
** The Buckeyes are extremely deep at safety. The starters will be McCalister, Ronnie Hickman (adjuster) and Josh Proctor (bandit). The top backups will be Martinez, Lathan Ransom and Kourt Williams.
** Jim Knowles doesn't like to rotate too much in the secondary, but he seems very high on Ransom and Williams. They will play. Ransom being healthy is pretty amazing. He suffered the same injury Proctor did (broken leg) but Proctor suffered his in the second game last season. Ransom suffered his in the Rose Bowl earlier this calendar year. Ransom said he did not return home to Arizona this year and instead remained in Columbus to rehab with with OSU’s athletic training staff.
** Secondary/corners coach Tim Walton and safeties coach Perry Eliano are impressive. Not much chatter about them because all the talk has been about Knowles. We're guilty as charged. But Walton and Eliano deserve some love too.
** Knowles says 75% of the defense has been installed, and he’s happy with it. Says OSU's defense is further along than he anticipated.
** What are thoughts on the Notre Dame matchup? Is Bax confident? Why or why not?
All of that and more is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish.
