Will Ohio State football make its third College Football Playoff appearance under Ryan Day? Mark it Down Monday Aug 30, 2021

Ryan Day's first two seasons as Ohio State football's head coach provided the program with its first back-to-back trip to the College Footall Playoff. Both of those trips came with Justin Fields as his quarterback. Now C.J. Stroud takes over and will try to lead the Buckeyes to a third trip, but this time winning the national title.

OSU isn't the only team with the new quarterback this season, as Stroud is joined by Alabama's Bryce Young and Clemson's D.J. Uiagalelei. As college football's Big Three press the reset button, other programs such as Georgia and Oklahoma can view the 2021 season as a chance to finally take the next step. The Sooners have as many CFP trips as Ohio State but haven't won a game, while the Bulldogs' lone trip in 2017 resulted in a loss to the Crimson Tide in the title game.

On this edition of Mark it Down Monday, Stephen Means, Nathan Baird and Doug Lesmerises gave their four seeds for the playoff, their national championship matchup, and the eventual national champion. They also asked their Buckeye Talk text subscribers to do the same.

As college football returns to normalcy in 2021, it could provide a chance for the sports' four most prominent programs to finally all be together on the biggest stage. Or it could give a chance for new teams to

get their shot at a national title.

It's the last position group Mount Buckmore on this Friday Buckeye Talk. Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means, with the help of texters, debate and discuss the best linebackers in Ohio State history and which four belong on the program's linebacker Mount Buckmore.

There are at least six very strong candidates, which means there is disagreement on the top four. Debates on quarterback, running back, receiver, defensive end and cornerback have already been done on the pod, and now we'll take a break from Mount Buckmore for a bit, and then get back to coaches and overall Buckeyes on some Mount Buckmores later this season.

It's another Friday Mount Buckmore episode on Buckeye Talk as Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means squeeze in two position groups this time.

Defensive ends and cornerbacks are debated, with each of the guys picking their four players for each spot, and the text subscribers casting their votes as well. The defensive ends are first and pretty fun. The cornerbacks are second and more of a grind, though not as difficult as Doug feared.

Quarterbacks, running backs and receivers were done on previous episodes, and it was time to get to the defensive side of the ball.
