Stay calm, ladies and gentlemen! The cover art is new but the topic is as old as time.

Today, Ethan and Pat discuss whether Princess peach was a colonialist, engage in a very convoluted discourse on bread, and mint a new cryptocurrency.

In the beginning of the episode, our favourite cartoon cereal mascots discuss Matt Walsh's "What is a Woman?" Pretty refreshing discussion, but the episode would've been way too long if I would have left it in. So its GOING ON PATREON BABEE. Support the show for $5 ($10 if you're feeling prodigal) per month to get access. Also leave a review to help us out and maybe get featured on the pod!! I'm waiting for people to start throwing some digs/jabs/bits in... too subtle for new listeners, but detectable by the Crunch Bunch proper. Join the Discord to get in on the fun!

Topic: what do the cargo cult, the divine right of monarch, Donald J. Trump, and Joseph R. Biden have in common? You guessed it... Liberalism.

What is the feminine genius anyway? Jun 12, 2022
    Show notes

    with special guest, Lisa Cotter!

Ethan and Patrick invite author, speaker, former FOCUS missionary, and (most importantly) mom of 4 and wife of 1 onto the pod to talk about the feminine genius. If you’re like me, you’ve heard that term dozens of times but don’t reallyknow what it means. Lisa introduces the term and explains what it doesn’t mean.

    Also in this episode:

    • the engineering caste system
    • a very troubling Pittsburgh news
    • A couple of dudes sipping on pink slime
    • the dangers of assigning roles and certain characteristics to genders arbitrarily
    • This document from the CDF, written by Ratzinger, was referenced at some point:
    • Patrick has an epiphany
    • receptivity
    • Shouting out one of the GOAT patrons!
    • a particularily affectionate review
    • The Queen of dating advice herself joins DEDC to give our dear patient some sage wisdom

Yes, this interview is a little all over the place. No, my editing attempts probably didn’t make it any better. What are you going to do? Listen to yet another Luke-less episode of Catching Foxes? Didn’t think so.

Buy Lisa’s book! (don’t you dare buy it on Amazon. Bezos has enough Pesos)

Listen here buckaroo. if you’re still reading this description and you’re not on Discord…. c’mon. We want to chat with you! Don’t worry - it's not overwhelming. There is a bumping community forming (not to mention Crunch memes) so join in on the fun!

Welcome to the pump, its your boy Ethanol. Fill up your gas tanks dear listeners - we’re going on a ride. GREAT episode in my opinion.

Twitter antics. Midwit meme. Pope Pius XIII’s hot take against Safe Spaces. “The Popes were better when they were Italian.” Trendy Marcel Lefebvre videos.

Today in Pittsburgh News: The inspiring story of one horse, one fire department, and one trench. You ever heard two podcasters talk about toys from their childhood? Me too. People who don’t like Pittsburgh news are WRONG.

The article Ethan and Patrick discuss in this week’s topic: https://churchlifejournal.nd.edu/articles/the-catholic-church-lacks-an-imagination-for-lay-agency/.

The good doctor actually encourages our dear patient in DEDC. Weird, right?

Podcast of the Summer! May 29, 2022
    Show notes

Come on in, the water's fine.

The sun is out. The beers are cold. The inflatable pool is filled. The tunes are bumping. And the vibes are crunchy. Make sure you bring your suncreen. I’m certain Ethan and Patrick burn easy.

We have a bit of a poducer’s cut extended edition of this week’s episode - mostly because I am exghausted and didn’t have the will power to shave it down more. But we got the goofs, the bits, and the insight you look forward to all week, right here on this episode of the summer of 2022's official podcast.

    On today’s docket:

    • Patrick learns how to maximize profits of his post office dystopian novel.
    • Ethan read a book, The Death of Christian Culture, written by some dead guy or whatever. It was recommended to Patrick by MATT FRADD, a.k.a. “some asshole.” (Little SEO optimization there).
    • Bad French accents.
    • Ethan endorses the view that modernism is the neverending pursuit of the “new,” which we construct out of thin air.
    • Patrick suggests that this pursuit is a human tendency, and we need Jesus to elevate our humanity above that, and even above the Garden of Eden.
    • Sensationalism and Empiricism. Other big words.
    • The ol’ Solomon solution in this week’s DEDC.
    • The attractiveness:distance dating ratio. Certainly problematic, but highly effective.

I'm getting my PhD in Milk. May 22, 2022
    Show notes

Patrick is back after his Pat-ernity leave with Leo the little lion man. In this dense episode:

    • The guys ask what milk is made of blood and discuss the logistics of taping knives to various animal's legs. They wrap up that disucssion with a riveting conversation about wind resistance.
    • Then, inexplicably, Patrick goes after golf courses. At one point, Ethan slams his pen on his desk in frustration. It brings up an interesting tension between (a) unproductive and wasteful beautiful spaces and (b) utilitarian and cost-effective lifeless spaces.
    • As you might expect, they talk about how mega-suburbia is awful for the human condition and ask how Americans got there.
    • At one in that discussion, Ethans demands Patrick to "explain the Chinese."
    • Also, what are the merits of single family homes? Patrick experiences cognitive dissonance. Ethan issues a disclaimer that he is "uncultured, and generally dumb."
    • In case you were wondering, the structures of classical liberalism faciliated WWII. Wait, are WWI and WWII actually two distinct wars? Patrick suggest no, Ethan thinks yes.
    • WAR! (Hoo! Yeah!) What is it good for? Promoting totalistic statism and individualistic hedonism!
    • Introducing a new segment! POTW! Y'oull have to listen to find out.
    • The good Doctor Ethan - the self-described fununcle at the party - drops Wisdom on Sophie (anybody? no?) in DEDC.
    • A special post-outro clip, because both Camille Guidry and I think they are funny. Thanks, Camille.

Hot Guy Catholic Podcast May 15, 2022
    Show notes

Emma Steuve (née Slominski) crashes the pod during the Era of Ethan while Patrick is on his PATernity leave! We answer three questions from star patrons Camille and Ben (thanks to all who submitted questions on Discord - join here!) and welcome NICU Nurse Emma to Dr. Ethan's Dating Corner to absolutely HUMILIATE a listener who likes to kiss her boyfriend between bites of roast beef which, for some reason, makes her boyfriend's mom uncomfortable.

Camille's question: I work in recruiting for a major hospital system, so ~personally~ I would love to hear a bit about her decision to leave her nursing job (not trying to poach her, I swear). Obviously only as much as y'all are willing to share, but I hear from people every day about why they are looking to leave their jobs because of everything that COVID has done to the healthcare world, so I'm also just interested to see her perspective on all of that too. Recruiting for it has been mentally and emotionally exhausting, so I can literally only imagine what it has been like on the patient care side of things. (Also happy nurses week to @em_stueve and any other nurses out there, thanks for all y'all do to keep your communities healthy!)

Ben's question: I would also be curious to hear Emma's perspective on the Catholic Community you all are planning.

(If you want to be caught up on what Ben is talking about, listen to this episode from January: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-crunch/id1165985677?i=1000547364212)

Ben's Second Question: DEDC Question for Emma, which I feel she'll have a unique perspective on: If you like a guy who has a podcast, should you listen to the podcast? Backstory: We have a friend who recently mentioned she has a crush on a Catholic guy in our area, who happens to have a podcast. I actually enjoy his content, they have good discussions and it's very topical to my area. I don't believe she currently listens, but I'm curious if Emma thinks she should start.

Thanks for listening y'all. Please consider supporting this podcast at $5/month so I can prove to everybody that I am not in a Catholic podcasting Ponzi scheme. - Summer Intern Reagan
