Special Episode: Allison Bailey on life in the bubble and building her cabaret debut
Feb 05, 2026
On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with someone you very well might have seen in pink and blue dresses, descending from the sky in bubbles across the country and on Broadway, Allison Bailey. Not only is Allison currently in the midst of a two-week return to the “Wicked” tour, but she is also preparing for her solo cabaret debut at 54 Below later this month.
In their conversation, Allison tells Matt about how special being a part of the “Wicked” family has been for nearly a decade, especially during the release of the movies, and also how she is looking back at her life and career to piece together the set list for her concert.
Allison will be joined by friends Casey Cott, Lauren Paley, and Talia Suskauer in the show, and she gives Matt a little sneak peek at what those collaborations will look like.

Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenage “newsies.” When powerful publishing titans raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right.
Based on the 1992 Disney film and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act), lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring beloved songs such as “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills, breathtaking choreography, and a powerful, uplifting message—making it the perfect show for audiences of all ages.

Based on a remarkable true story, Hans Litten centers on the brilliant young Jewish lawyer who, in 1931, did the seemingly impossible: he called Adolf Hitler to the witness stand and publicly exposed the future dictator’s embrace of political violence—two years before Hitler rose to power. It remains one of the most audacious legal confrontations of the 20th century.
The play moves from the charged atmosphere of Berlin courtrooms to the brutal reality of Nazi concentration camps, tracing Litten’s unwavering commitment to justice, reason, and human dignity. Refusing to remain silent in the face of rising authoritarianism, Litten risks—and ultimately sacrifices—his life for the rule of law.
At once intellectually thrilling and emotionally devastating, Hans Litten: The Jew Who Cross-Examined Hitler is a powerful reminder of how fragile democracy can be, and how profound the impact of individual moral courage remains. As questions of justice, truth, and authoritarianism reverberate across the modern world, Litten’s story feels not only urgent—but essential.

Gotham Rogues: The Unauthorized Batman Parody Musical is a darkly hilarious comic book–opera that plunges into the twisted minds—and musical numbers—of Gotham’s most notorious villains. When Batman is captured and put on trial inside Arkham Asylum, the rogues seize their moment to settle scores, spill their trauma, and steal the spotlight. With a razor-sharp book by Paul Iacono (with additional material by Marc Kudisch and Barrett Leddy), direction by Rachel Klein, music direction by Peter Saxe, and lyrics by Iacono set to the iconic score of Shirley Walker, Danny Elfman, and the composers of Batman: The Animated Series—this bold, cabaret-noir spectacle dares to ask: in a city of masks, who are the rogues… and who are the heroes?

Special Episode: Autumn Hurlbert on the community of ‘Come From Away’ at the Maltz Jupiter
Jan 08, 2026
On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with someone that he has been a fan of for nearly 20 years, dating back to “Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods,” the one and only Autumn Hurlbert. Autumn has also been seen on Broadway in “Legally Blonde” and “Tammy Faye,” on tour in “Something Rotten!” and “Little Women,” and in dozens of regional shows around the country.
Currently, she is starring as Beverly Bass (and others) in “Come From Away” at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Jupiter, Florida. Performances began on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and will run through Sunday, Jan. 25. In their conversation, Autumn and Matt discuss how important the message of “Come From Away” is today, how her 11 o’clock number “Me and the Sky” resonates far beyond the context of the show, and (of course) the legacy of “Legally Blonde.”

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, BroadwayRadio’s Matt Tamanini attended the opening night of the “& Juliet” national tour at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, Florida. Matt Tamanini returns to Broadway Radio tonight with his new show, “Last Week on Broadway” which will cover last week’s news on Broadway as well as talk about the upcoming schedule for the week on Broadway.
“The Kennedy Center opened in September 1971 with a premiere of “Mass,” which was composed by Leonard Bernstein with English texts by Mr. Schwartz, who was then 23 years old.”
Charles Kirsch, the 18-year-old host of the theater podcast Backstage Babble, has been conducting in-depth interviews with some of Broadway’s best, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Carol Burnett, Harvey Fierstein, Chita Rivera, and Kelli O’Hara, since it started in July 2020. As the podcast enters its sixth year on the air, Kirsch will gather some of his favorite former guests at 54 Below to share never-before-heard anecdotes and recreate some of their Broadway performances for one night only. Featured shows include Chicago, Kiss Me, Kate, and On the Twentieth Century, as well as lesser-known musicals like Pageant and The Moony Shapiro Songbook. It promises to be a night of never-before-heard stories, great performances, and a celebration of the art form that is necessary viewing for any theater buff.
The evening will be musically directed by Broadway’s music man Michael Lavine, and is sure to be, like the podcast, a joyous celebration of Broadway and the legends who shaped it.
Featuring:
Tony Award® Honoree Gerard Alessandrini (Forbidden Broadway) Natascia Diaz (Cabaret) Mamie Duncan-Gibbs (Chicago) Danielle Ferland (Into the Woods) Tony Award® nominee Penny Fuller (Applause) Annie Golden (Assassins) Jason Graae (Falsettos) Adam Grupper (The Wild Party) Tony Award® nominee Marc Kudisch (Floyd Collins) Annie McGreevey (Company) Evan Pappas (Parade) Stephanie Pope (Jelly’s Last Jam) Will Roland (Be More Chill) Tony Award® nominee Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie) Elena Shaddow (La Cage aux Folles) and more stars to be announced!
Please note that all artists and acts are subject to change at any time.
The Oscar-winning film Gone with the Wind became a musical that closed in San Francisco without braving Broadway.
And 31 years before the Oscar-winning film Grand Hotel became a musical called Grand Hotel in 1989, it had become a musical called At the Grand that also closed in San Francisco without braving Broadway.
However, there is an Oscar-winning film that had the exact same name as yet another musical that had closed out of town – BUT it was not an adaptation of that film, and in fact had nothing to do with it; only the name was the same.
What is it?

Jordan Harrison’s MARJORIE PRIME, directed by Anne Kauffman, at the Helen Hayes Theater
The Broadway production of Jordan Harrison’s MARJORIE PRIME stars Danny Burstein, Christopher Lowell, Cynthia Nixon, and June Squibb (original production of Gypsy!) in the title role of Marjorie Prime. This production marks Mr. Harrison’s Broadway debut.
What would you say to someone you lost, if you could see them again? What if they’re a better listener now than when they were alive? Pulitzer Prize finalist Jordan Harrison reinvents the family drama in his richly spare, wryly funny, and powerful MARJORIE PRIME, directed by Anne Kauffman. A heart-achingly beautiful rumination on aging and artificial intelligence, memory and mortality, love and legacy, MARJORIE PRIME examines the blurred line between a life lived and a life remembered.

Obie Award-winning playwright and songwriter Ethan Lipton and two-time Tony nominee director Leigh Silverman bring their irreverently funny new musical THE SEAT OF OUR PANTS to The Public this fall. A rollicking adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Skin of Our Teeth, this new musical about age-old problems tells the twisting, often absurd story of the Antrobus family, who have been alive for 5,000 years but live in the same existential dread as the rest of us. Mired in the hot mess of their everyday worries, the Antrobuses survive all manner of catastrophes in an endless quest to begin again, and again, and again. Choreographed by Sunny Min-Sook Hitt, this bracingly original spectacle is a musical reminder that surviving is what we do best.
THE SEAT OF OUR PANTS features Ben Beckley (Ensemble), Kelly Belarmino (Understudy), Ally Bonino (Fortune Teller), Bill Buell (Turkey/Ensemble), Cole Burden (Understudy), Damon Daunno (Henry Antrobus), Micaela Diamond (Sabina), Amina Faye (Glady Antrobus), Andy Grotelueschen (Announcer/Ensemble), Shuler Hensley (Mr. Antrobus), Allison Ann Kelly (Ensemble/Musician), Michael Lepore (Telegram Boy/Ensemble), Nat Lopez (Ensemble), Ruthie Ann Miles (Mrs. Antrobus), Geena Quintos (Mammoth/Ensemble), León Ramos Tak (Understudy), David Ryan Smith (Ensemble), Ruth E. Reunions Company Photo by Jeremy Daniel Photography
REUNIONS, a new musical with book and lyrics by Jeffrey Scharf and music by Jimmy Calire explores how time changes us, how love endures, and what happens when past and present finally meet.
Directed by Gabriel Barre, REUNIONS is a musical adaptation of two famous one-act plays with this common theme.
“A Sunny Morning,” based on the charming play by the Quintero Brothers, shows that hope of love springs eternal – even among septuagenarians. “The Twelve-Pound Look,” adapted from the play by James M. Barrie, is a thoroughly modern look at issues of class, a woman’s “place” and the high price of success.
With warmth, humor, and heart, REUNIONS speaks to anyone who’s ever wondered “what if?” It’s about the courage to face the past, the beauty of rediscovery, and the universal hope that love might just find its way back.
The show stars Chip Zien (Into the Woods), Chilina Kennedy (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Courtney Reed (Alladin), Joanna Glushak (War Paint), and Bryan Fenkart (Memphis) and others, bringing this tale of second chances to life.
As old feelings resurface and long-buried truths emerge, can love truly get a second act? —or should some stories stay in memory?
Would you be interested in speaking with any of the show’s cast members or writers Jeffrey Scharf and Jimmy Calire about bringing this story to life?
Interestingly, Chip Zien originated the role of The Baker in Into the Woods on Broadway and Courtney Reed originated the role of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin on Broadway.

Don’t mess with a Chinese grandma.
When a high-rise developer threatens to buy out A-Poh’s successful Chinatown restaurant, the martyr-complex matriarch gathers her three precious grandchildren from all corners of the country to plan their next mode of attack. There’s just one problem – A-Poh’s memory is rapidly fading. What follows is a chaotic journey through reality, myth, and magic as A-Poh travels through now and the great beyond in a last-ditch effort to preserve what’s left of her family, legacy, and sanity. A caustic and imaginative spin on King Lear that explores the changing face of America’s Chinatowns and the fight to preserve a fading cultural memory.

Colt Coeur presents the world premiere of The Surgeon and Her Daughters By Chris Gabo directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt
Nov 23-Dec 20, 2025
A 21st century Les Miserablés, The Surgeon and Her Daughters is an epic and intimate play about family, grief, and how we stay afloat amidst seemingly insurmountable odds. Diving unflinchingly into the ‘melting pot’ that is New York City, the play explores the slipperiness of truth and justice; the thorniness of honor and redemption, and the sensation of being a crab at the bottom of the barrel. The Ray Knight Broadway Theatre Films is a unique collection of 16mm silent film shot by theatergoer Ray Knight of Jacksonville, Florida, on visits to New York City during a period of over 40 years. From the Ziegfeld Follies of 1931 to A Little Night Music (1973), Knight captured on film excerpts of actual performances of approximately 140 Broadway musicals, creatively edited into narrative sequences along with local scenes of New York City and homemade shots of theatre memorabilia. What was originally intended as a personal souvenir has now become a masterpiece of primitive film art, an unparalleled historical resource, and a national treasure–the single largest collection of moving images of the Broadway musical during its golden years.
The Institute of the American Musical is making these unique documents available to the public incrementally as they are completed because we recognize their great interest and unparalleled educational value for musical theatre producers, performers, scholars, students, and aficionados alike. As we undertake the work of identifying the musical numbers and performers and preparing the film for publication, we ask for your patience in waiting for the videos of so many important and beloved musicals to come on line. At the same time, we deeply appreciate any funding assistance you may be able to provide to this project, which will allow us to continue this work to research and edit the films with greater speed. Please join our community if your are interested in these films by submitting your contact information so that we may keep you informed as new videos of musicals are posted.
This one may seem hard, but, believe me, there’s a VERY big hint built into it.
The question is: Why are these plays – DOES A TIGER WEAR A NECKTIE; EASTERN STANDARD; LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS; LUV; MASQUERADE; MY SWEET CHARLIE; PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM and THERE’S A GIRL IN MY SOUP — lumped together with these musicals: ANYONE CAN WHISTLE; FLORA THE RED MENACE and A MOTHER’S KISSES?

The Olivier Award®-winning, West End sensation, Oedipus – a bold and electrifying adaptation created and directed by Robert Icke stars Mark Strong – reprising his Olivier-nominated role as ‘Oedipus’ – and Lesley Manville – reprising her Olivier-winning role as ‘Jocasta.’
Also reprising their UK roles are Samuel Brewer as ‘Teiresias,’ Bhasker Patel as ‘Corin,’ Jordan Scowen as ‘Eteocles,’ and James Wilbraham as ‘Polyneices.’ They are joined by John Carroll Lynch as ‘Creon,’ Teagle F. Bougere as ‘Driver,’ Ani Mesa-Perez as ‘Lichas,’ Olivia Reis as ‘Antigone,’ and Anne Reid as ‘Merope,’ with Brian Thomas Abraham, Denise Cormier, Karl Kenzler, and Oliver Rowland-Jones rounding out the cast.

It’s election night. The polls predict a landslide victory. Everything is about to change. This fall, Broadway audiences will experience what London critics and theatergoers already know: Oedipus isn’t just a revival. It’s a revelation.
The creative team includes Hildegard Bechtler (Scenic Designer), Wojciech Dziedzic (Costume Designer), Natasha Chivers (Lighting Designer), Tom Gibbons (Sound Designer), and Tal Yarden (Video Designer). Casting is by Julia Horan, CDG and Jim Carnahan, CSA.
Robert Icke’s Oedipus was originally produced in Dutch by Internationaal Theater Amsterdam and was presented at the Edinburgh International Festival.

In a quiet French village, a baker and his wife bring fresh bread…and fresh gossip. But when temptation stirs and hearts wander, the whole town gets caught up in a swirl of romance, mischief, and melody. The Baker’s Wife brings Stephen Schwartz’s soaring score, including the iconic “Meadowlark,” to life in its full-scale production in New York City. Sweet, surprising, and full of heart, this long-awaited production celebrates love in all its perfectly imperfect recipes.

Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) brings his signature wit and imagination to the New York premiere of Archduke.
Directed by Tony Award® winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder) and featuring Jake Berne, Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen, Tony nominee Patrick Page, Adrien Rolet, and Jason Sanchez, this darkly comic play follows Gavrilo Princip, better known as the assassin of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his fellow revolutionaries, reimagined not as masterminds but rather a hapless, helpless band of teenagers.
With razor-sharp humor, Archduke transforms a pivotal moment in global politics into an absurdly relevant theatrical experience, reminding us that too often history is written by the least qualified recruits.
You’re on a subway in Boston. The train is noisy, so you can’t quite make out what passengers are saying to each other.
But when you hear a person mention “I saw a musical,” you try to hear the rest.
When he praises a performer, the name means nothing to you.
But when he says the name of the character the performer played, you can narrow the musical down to WOMAN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN or ANNIE.
Explain.

Kyoto production photo by Emilio Madrid
PF: Kyoto @ Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (Off-Broadway) through November 30, 2025 Saving the Earth is a filthy business. Welcome to the Kyoto Conference Centre, December 11, 1997. The nations of the world are in deadlock. Time is running out and a climate change agreement feels a world away. The greatest obstacle: American oil lobbyist and master strategist, Don Pearlman… Declared “gripping” (The Times), “extraordinarily funny” (Variety), and a “genuinely daring” (Evening Standard) “triumph” (Telegraph), KYOTO asks who gets to decide what’s worth saving when the entire planet is at risk—and what we’re willing to give up so we can move forward, together.
Tony Award nominee Stephen Kunken is reprising his celebrated role as American lawyer and ex-government strategist ‘Don Pearlman,’ KYOTO will also star Jorge Bosch, reprising his Olivier Award-nominated role as Argentinian lawyer and conference leader ‘Raul Estrada-Oyuela,’ Peter Bradbury as climate change skeptic ‘Fred Singer,’ Kate Burton as ‘USA,’ Feodor Chin as ‘China,’ Erin Darke as ‘Germany,’ Natalie Gold as ‘Shirley,’ Daniel Jenkins as ‘Gore/Bolin/Santer/Observer,’ Dariush Kashani as ‘Saudi Arabia,’ Rob Narita as ‘Japan,’ Imani Jade Powers as ‘Secretariat,’ Ferdy Roberts reprising his role as ‘U.K./Prescott/Houghton,’ Roslyn Ruff as ‘Tanzania,’ and Taiana Tully as ‘Kiribati.’ Offstage understudies include Odera Adimorah, Clark Carmichael, Luis Carlos de La Lombana, Paul Juhn, Amelia McClain, and Lianah Sta. Ana.
The creative team for KYOTO includes Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson (playwrights), Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin (directors), Miriam Buether (set design), Natalie Pryce (costume design), Aideen Malone (lighting design), Christopher Reid (sound design), Akhila Krishnan (video design), Paul Englishby (original music), Jim Carnahan, CSA and Alexandre Bleau, CSA (casting), Diana DiVita (stage manager), Ed Burnside (associate director), Julia Horan (original UK casting director) and Gemma Stockwood (Dramaturg).
Sherie Rene Scott will play the role of Jackie Siegel on November 25 (Tuesday), December 3 – Matinee (Wednesday), December 3 – Evening (Wednesday), and January 20 (Tuesday)
MP: Messy White Gays @ The Duke on 42nd Street, through January 11, 2026

PF + MP: 44 – The Musical @ the Daryl Roth Theatre music, lyrics and book by a former Obama campaign staffer Eli Bauman
Barack Obama’s election changed history. 44 is a satirical look at the rise and presidency of Barack Obama, as well as the eccentric political characters he met along the way. It is the story of Obama you won’t read about in history books…because history books are now banned in most states. But also, because 44 is the story of Obama as Joe Biden kinda sorta remembers it…
The cast of this brilliantly funny musical that Chris Jones of The Chicago Tribune said, “tickled him purple all night long,” features T.J. Wilkins (NBC’s “The Voice”) as ‘Barack Obama’ and Shanice (award-winning R&B artist – “I Love Your Smile” and OWN’s “Flex & Shanice”) as ‘Michelle Obama’ and Chad Doreck as ‘Joe Biden’ with Larry Cedar (Mitch McConnell), Summer Collins (Sarah Palin), Jenna Pastuszek (Hillary Clinton), Dino Shorté (Herman Cain), Jeff Sumner (Lindsey Graham), and Michael Uribes (Ted Cruz).

A downtown sensation when it first premiered, Bat Boy: The Musical quickly became a cult classic, thanks to its unforgettable score and bold storytelling. Now, over 20 years later, Bat Boy returns to NYC for the first time in a limited 2-week run with a star-studded cast that you’d be bloody foolish to miss.
Tony nominee Taylor Trensch (Floyd Collins) stars as Edgar, a half-human, half-bat teen who is found in a cave and taken in by the Parker family: Tony nominee Christopher Sieber (Death Becomes Her) as Dr. Parker, Gabi Carrubba (Just In Time) as Shelley, and Kerry Butler (Heathers The Musical) as Meredith. Butler triumphantly returns to Bat Boy after originating the role of Shelley in the 2001 Off-Broadway production.
Director Alex Timbers (Just In Time, Moulin Rouge!) brings his Tony-winning storytelling to the iconic pop-rock score by Tony nominee Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde: The Musical, Heathers The Musical) with several brand-new songs and expanded orchestrations.
Perfectly timed for the Halloween season, this joyfully twisted tale invites audiences to laugh, cry, and cheer for the bat-boy who just wants to belong.
Conceived and written by Douglas Lyons, with music by Ethan D. Pakchar and Douglas Lyons, and lyrics by Douglas Lyons. The production is directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes

For most of us, the idea of reliving high school is nothing short of a nightmare. When Romy and Michele are invited to their ten-year high school reunion, Michele envisions the whole experience as a fun road trip, while Romy, very reluctantly, agrees to go but only if they come up with something to impress their classmates. To this end, the two hatch an outrageous scheme to totally re-invent themselves. With an ’80s and ’90s pop-inspired score, Romy & Michele: The Musical is an absolute feel-good joyride.
Based on the cult film classic Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion, the musical features a book by the film’s screenwriter Robin Schiff, music and lyrics by Gwendolyn Sanford and Brandon Jay (“Orange is the New Black”), music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Keith Harrison Dworkin (Emojiland), choreography by Karla Puno Garcia, and direction by Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages).
Stepping into the platform shoes of the iconic best friends are Broadway veterans Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde, The Cottage) as Romy White and Kara Lindsay (Newsies, Wicked) as Michele Weinberger. The cast also includes Jordan Kai Burnett as Heather /others, DeMarius R. Copes as DJ/others, Ninako Donville as Lisa/others, Erica Dorfler as Kelly /others, Michael Thomas Grant as Sandy/others, Je’Shaun Jackson as Toby/others, Pascal Pastrana as Billy /others, and Lauren Zakrin as Christie/others.
Romy & Michele: The Musical is produced by Barry Kemp, Stephen Soucy, Peter Schneider, and Laurence Mark with Showtown Productions serving as Executive Producer.

An impending flood is the least of the Johnson family’s troubles in this outrageous reimagining of Noah’s Ark from Tony Award-nominated writer and director duo Jordan E. Cooper and Stevie Walker-Webb. OH HAPPY DAY! begins in Laurel, MS, at a birthday BBQ for Lewis, the patriarch of the family. Shortly after his estranged son Keyshawn (played by Cooper) makes a surprise appearance, absurdity ensues on a day that will change their world forever. Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Donald Lawrence writes original songs for this biting new play about confronting the divine.

The year is 1940-something, and Chicago’s night scene is sizzling. Enter Joey Evans. A slick-talking, velvet-voiced songster with dreams bigger than the bandstand. But in a city where the right connections mean everything, he is caught between a bright-eyed chorus girl and a wealthy widow who can bankroll his big break—for a price. As the lights dim and the music swells, Joey’s got a choice to make: play it straight or risk it all for the spotlight. This classic Rodgers and Hart score, including “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” “What Is a Man?,” and “I Could Write a Book,” now includes “This Can’t Be Love” and “The Lady Is a Tramp,” among others. Co-directed by Tony Award-winning choreographer Savion Glover and actor, director, and producer Tony Goldwyn, the stakes are high, the music is hot, and the game of romance and ambition never sounded so good.
Support for Chez Joey is provided by Catherine and Chris Guttman-McCabe.
MP: Turandot @ Metropolitan Opera World premiere: Teatro alla Scala, Milan, 1926. Puccini’s final opera is an epic fairy tale set in a China of legend, loosely based on a play by 18th-century Italian dramatist Carlo Gozzi. Featuring a most unusual score with an astounding and innovative use of chorus and orchestra, it is still recognizably Puccini, bursting with instantly appealing melody. The unenviable task of completing the opera’s final scene upon Puccini’s sudden death was left to the composer Franco Alfano. Conductor Arturo Toscanini oversaw Alfano’s contribution and led the world premiere.
“One of the most lavish and intricate [productions] in the company’s repertoire” (The New York Times), Franco Zeffirelli’s glittering take on Puccini’s final masterpiece returns to the stage with three extraordinary casts bringing the rousing score to life. Sopranos Angela Meade, Anna Pirozzi, and Liudmyla Monastyrska star in the title role of the vengeful princess, whose frozen heart is thawed by the courageous prince Calàf, portrayed by tenors Michael Fabiano, Brian Jagde, and Roberto Alagna.

Peter’s Brainteaser:
Two of his works made it to Broadway in the 1980s.
One was a revival of his play, one was his new musical.
Both titles had two words in them; the first word of each show was identical. Each of the second word of the title started with the same two letters.
What are the two shows, and who wrote them?

Three longtime friends. One ridiculously expensive painting. Is it art, or is it just the world’s priciest inside joke? What begins as a polite debate over aesthetics and taste devolves into a clash of egos and resentments. Can their friendship survive, or will one of them finally draw the line? It’s just 100 minutes of minimalist art, maximalist laughs, and a moving look at what we really see and forgive in the people we love.

A CHORUS LINE was a Tony-winning musical whose script mentions two dates that were the official openings of two previous Tony-winning Best Musicals – not Best Musical Revivals, mind you, but Best Musicals.
Name the dates, the shows, and the two characters who mention them in A CHORUS LINE.
