    Bring Your Own is a live storytelling series that takes place in living rooms, backyards and other intimate spaces within the New Orleans community. Each month, seven storytellers have 7 minutes to respond to a theme. Stories are told live, unscripted and true to the teller.

    Bring Your Own is a nomadic storytelling series that takes place in unconventional spaces within the community. Each month, eight storytellers have eight minutes to respond to a theme. BYO airs on All Things New Orleans and is a biweekly podcast on WWNO.org. This story was told on April 21 st , 2016 at the Jazz and Heritage Center, and later produced by Dana Bialek (Bee-ah-lick). The theme of the evening was "Not For the Money", and was held in partnership with NOVAC’s Sync Up cinema conference. Here, Laura M. talks about how her rougher days as a bartender affected her judgement, to say the least. The next BYO will take place January 12 th , 2017 in partnership with the New Orleans Health Department. The theme is ‘Where Does it Hurt?’. More at bringyourownstories.com.

BYO airs on All Things New Orleans and is a biweekly podcast on WWNO.org. This story was told on July 28th, 2016 at the Homer Plessy Community School, and later produced by Laine Kaplan-Levenson . The theme of the evening was "Heard: Why The Young Feel Old" and the event was in partnership with Eve Abrams’ ‘Unprisoned’ project . Here, Jewel Williams won with this story of how William Shakespeare helped her come out to her parents. The next BYO will take place Thursday, December 15th at Propeller Incubator at 4035 Washington Avenue. This event was in partnership with the Fair Housing Action Center, and the theme of the evening was “Uninhabitable". Here, Alejandro Salazar tells of doing recovery work in all types of homes owned by all types of people who usually don' t interact with people like him.
