We're going deep behind the scenes and exploring how the cultural and business sides of Hip Hop meet in the middle. This week's guest is Chris Schwartz; Co-Founder of Ruffhouse Records. We talk about his start in the music business, marketing Cypress Hill, signing The Fugees (30 million sold!) and so much more. The episode closes with us addressing the elephant in the room and entering a discussion about 'colonisers' in Hip Hop. When we talk of colonisers, we're focused only on those who appropriate the culture for their own use, financial gain and social currency, while excluding and silencing others.

In the great words of A Tribe Called Quest, we've got the jazz. In this episode, we finally got to speak with Derek "Jazz" Walker. If you don't know his name, you definitely know his work. He's done an excellent of managing Roc Marciano and Stove God Cooks and he's only just getting started with building his 'pimpire'. He also shares some Long Island history about rapping with Busta Rhymes, the impact of the "Marcberg" project, updates on Metal Clergy and how his brand of boom bap is very fashion-forward.

This week's episode could have been called "the greatest podcast never recorded", but it was recorded, so that wouldn't have made much sense. We're joined by Abandoned Nation representer, Saigon, to talk about his new book, working on new music with Just Blaze, the negative effects of social media, getting tapes in jail and much more. Much more as in playing us some snippets of unreleased Kanye West music. The school of Brian Carenard is now accepting applications.

Neil Levine has been independent as f*** his whole life. In this episode, the music industry vet takes us through his career and drops gems about everything and everyone. From setting up Penalty Recordings as an indie label you can still trust to signing Capone-N-Noreaga, Fat Joe and gauging success before the rise of Billboard - he tells his story with pride and detail. Mad chapters son.

How many people in the music business can say they worked with Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Tha Alkaholiks, Xzibit and Big Pun and just go about their day all cool, calm and collected? Not many, but Schott "Free" Jacobs is no mere mortal. We hooked up with the former Lourd Records A & R to talk about his journey in Hip Hop and break down the stories behind some of the culture's most important bodies of work. This one is deep.

From Hip Hop to Wrestling, we love a good tag team. This week, we are blessed with the presence of Blu and Exile and the nerdery levels get way too high. Blu and Exile talk about their new album, "Miles", how they were inspired by Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth and we even learned about Exile's juvenile deliquent career.

The love we got for Episode 100 with Pete Rock was so real, we have to show some love back to the people. Here's a bonus episode with the HEIC (Head Editor In Charge), Shawn Setaro! We had a real candid chat about developing his writing style, creating The Cipher podcast, Ice Cube's run in the 90s and a whole bunch of other things. Enjoy and thank you for the support!

We've reached a very important milestone. Today's drop is Episode 100 and we're not going to get too sentimental about it here because we have a legend to introduce. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages - please welcome the legendary Pete Rock to Breaking Atoms! Before heading out to a studio session, Pete dialled in to chop it up about his new Petestrumentals 3 release, working on the InI album 25 years ago, the importance of his remixes and his relationships with J Dilla and Large Professor. His voice is just as smooth as his adlibs.

Chris often talks about the underground Hip Hop rabbit hole that he fell into throughout the 2000s. This is the time he discovered Molemen Records and he's been a fan ever since. The Actual Factual got to link up with one of the founding Molemen members, Panik, to talk about Chicago Rap history, working with MF DOOM early on, instrumental albums and his city's Drill scene.
Special thanks to Andrew Barber for putting the battery in Chris' back to reach out to Panik and record this episode.
