    Brett James, the Grammy Award-winning songwriter behind some of country music’s biggest hits, including “Jesus Take the Wheel” and “I Hold On,” was killed in a plane crash in North Carolina on Thursday. We wanted to take a look back on when Brett stopped by the BobbyCast in 2022. Brett was a Grammy award-winning songwriter, has had more than 500 cuts, appearing on albums with combined sales of over 110 million copies, and 27 No. 1 hits. Brett had a fascinating journey to Nashville. He talked to Bobby about how he went from medical school to pursuing a career as a solo country artist in the 90’s. Brett shared how it all started with him writing one song that led to him getting major cuts for Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley and more. RIP Brett James.

Plus, John tells the stories about writing a few classics, such as "Proud Mary" in 1 hour and "Fortunate Son" in just 20 minutes while in his bedroom without any melody. John also talked to Bobby about the true meaning behind his lyrics, his earliest memories of music during his childhood days and when he got his first guitar.
