CCB #131 TOOTBLANs & Tampa Bay Apr 18, 2022

Show notes

The Cubs went .500 over a four game set at Coors Field, which Sara and Danny are happy about, but can the team just put a stop to these TOOTBLANs? Sara and Danny are also looking at Ross' bullpen management despite some guys struggling, it appears KB's eyes really do sparkle more in purple and a hot series for Jonathan Villar which could cause a playing time crunch for Nick and/or Nico. After the break they preview the Tampa Bay series that may or may not kick off at Wrigley Field on Monday night if the snow stays away. Plus a look at pitching matchups, here's hoping Wrigley Kyle shows up and some red hot players for the Cubs and the Rays including Ji-Man Choi, Seiya Suzuki, Jason Heyward (yes, really) and Ian Happ. Learn more about your ad choices. Show notes

With Opening Day is just a few days away Sara and Danny are joined by Craig Calcaterra to discuss his new book "Rethinking Fandom: How to Beat the Sports-Industrial Complex at Its Own Game." There is a sportsbook mid-construction at Wrigley Field less than one year from trading the World Series core, so this is a timely conversation about the sports business and how fans interact with it. We talk about tanking, the CBA, why we all love Greg Maddux and more. In the second half of the show Craig joins us for our NL Central preview where we look at a Brewers team built to win and a Cardinals team that looks uniquely stacked for devil's magic. Finally, we try to figure out the Cubs Opening Day 28-man roster and share one thing we are each looking for on Opening Day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
