On July 27, 2017, 26 year old Gemmel Moore would be found dead, laying naked on a mattress in the home of Ed Buck, a rich, well-connected businessman in Los Angeles, California. It was apparent that he’d died from a meth overdose, so the coroner declared Gemmel’s death accidental.

n 2002, the US Supreme court ruled that executing people with intellectual disabilities is unconstitutional. This was a FEDERAL ruling, which means that all states have to abide by this law. There was a similar law passed in the state of Alabama in 1986, where today’s case takes place.
