Welcome back to Nostalgia Check! This week we’re revisiting The Cable Guy (1996), Ben Stiller’s bizarre dark comedy starring Jim Carrey, Matthew Broderick, and Leslie Mann.

When The Cable Guy hit theaters in 1996, audiences expecting another goofy Jim Carrey comedy got something much stranger. Instead, they got a psychological black comedy about obsession, loneliness, and one of Carrey’s most unforgettable performances. The film divided critics and fans at the time but has since become a genuine cult classic.

Did The Cable Guy deserve its cult status, or is it still one of Jim Carrey’s strangest movies? Let us know in the comments!
