Stay ConnectedA comedy game design podcast by two guys who know nothing about comedy nor game design.
Join Trevor Scott and Ben Slinger as they take prompts from random word generators, movies, game titles and more and turn them into occasionally hilarious but always interesting game designs.
Ben and Trevor bring some improvised holiday cheer with this themed episode of Click Pitch, where they invent video games such as:
a creepy narrative adventure where you explore the back rooms of an eldritch mansion;
a multiplayer game where Santa Claus has franchised his present giving to the highest bidder;
a romantic adventure where Krampus' apprentice finds out the truth about his parentage;
an app to track your Whamaggedon streak;
and more!
Ben and Trev meet each other face to face and realise why it's a bad idea for them to be in the same room. Game concepts get discussed and a fair few puns get thrown around.
This week Ben and Trevor return to using What3Words.com for the random words that power their improvised game designs. Three great games this week:
a contemporary thriller set in a quarantined nightclub, with Obra Dinn inspired detective elements;
travel across New Zealand in your truck, doing plastering jobs to make enough money to get to the place that reminds you of your love;
automate Santa's workshop across the ages as he deals with the growing population and ever-increasing demands of the world's children.
What do Veronica Mars, aliens and OCD have in common? They all appeared in some way, shape or form on this episode of Bit Storm. Ben and Trev discuss these ideas and throw them away when they aren't able to come up with anything more to talk about.
Listen along this week as Ben and Trevor riff on some incredible new game designs based on random words, such as:
A licensed Firefly game with procedurally generated storylets and a Sea of Thieves-esque multiplayer;
A management and hacking sim where an orthodontist must fight back against Big Teeth;
A rustpunk VR golf game where you use your putting skills to beat enemies;
and more!
Ben and Trev got together after a 2 week break and discussed some games. These are their stories.
On this week's episode, Ben and Trevor play some video game wall tennis as they come up with improvised game ideas, such as:
A throwback sidescroller where you play the son of Bill Gates;
A shadow puppetry game played in the context of a rickety stagecoach;
A Daniel Mullins inspired experience where you move up the ranks of angelic tech support;
and more!
Ben and Trev forgot to do a Halloween episode earlier, so here is a very last minute version of one. They almost spend the entire episode talking about one game. The games they talked about were:
Ben and Trevor play some classic Click Pitch, inventing games such as:
A dating app/game where you must climb a mountain to marry your spouse;
A new sporting sensation where you must feed your goalies perfectly cooked burgers;
A marching band simulator;
and more!
Originally planned for release as episode 351, Ben and Trevor finally get this episode released as it was stuck on Trev's new PC that went in for repairs. In this pre PAX episode, they discuss game ideas centered around the Vampire Survivors / Horde Shooter genre.
