2nd season Maine Moose Hunt results.
When leaves come down it is time to scout.
Most leaves come down in the mountains sooner than anywhere.
Scout a little later because leaves cover up sign.
You should wait to scout till bucks move into fall range in October.
Last week of October generally signposts start to get hit.
Daylight controls everything.
Been seeing lot of fawns which is good sign deer herd is healthy.
Lots of people look in the wrong areas for signpost. Hal steers you in the right direction.
Bedding and feeding areas in the big woods? Do they exist?
Your favorite buck spot might not be good this year. Why? What to do?
Sitting in hardwoods where you can see the farthest is probably not best place. Why?
Spend 90% of your time in the 10%. How do you find 10% area?

Moose hunt - 2nd season a lot different than 1st season.
Don't scout to early if you have 2nd season tag.
Trail cam pics can be a curse – good indication of the moose in the area but moose might not be there when you hunt. They go on a mission just like deer do during the rut.
Alder rubs with broken stubs from years past much better indicator then random rubs.
Hal is a fan of running and gunning even at first light.
Some old bulls just like old turkey's don't talk too much.
Guide Mike says get into their living room during 2nd season before you rack or call.
2nd season seems to be better to rack brush then call in some cases.

Many times, deer hear or see something and just want to get out of the way.
There are 1000 things to be negative about, but you have to know you will see one!
Every day you are in the woods and hunt big woods style you will be within an eye shot of a big buck
Your job is to see him first.
Many want to get in the woods in the "Twilighties" but if you can't see in the shadows, you can't see the deer
When you cut off a deer yard you are just bunching more deer into a smaller area.
