1-on-1 with Jay Gruden and Ryan Kerrigan as both try to find words for Monday night's catastrophe Oct 09, 2018
    Show notes

This edition of Redskins Talk features two key members of the team doing their best to explain what exactly happened at the Superdome on Monday. First up is JP Finlay's 1-on-1 interview with Jay Gruden, where JP asks the head coach about why the letdown happened, how he'll prevent further letdowns and what he made of Alex Smith's worst start as a Redskin. Then comes JP's postgame chat with Ryan Kerrigan, where Kerrigan also attempts to assess how Washington flopped so hard on Monday night. Is this a fun pod? No. But it's a necessary one. So buckle up, listen and then move on to Carolina.

"They ain't for real": Immediate reactions to the Redskins' disastrous Monday night performance vs. the Saints Oct 09, 2018
    Show notes

The opening to this podcast may go down as the most memorable in the history of the show, thanks to great work by JP Finlay, Rich Tandler and Mitch Tischler and some very NOT great work by the Redskins. Where do they begin after that AWFUL performance vs. New Orleans? After a bunch of curse words and sound effects, they dive in to the mess. In the pod, you'll hear everything, from some questions about whether Jay Gruden is the right man for the job to a ton of criticism for the 'Skins' idiotic penalties to thoughts on the benching of Josh Norman. The hosts also go through a Game Balls and Goats segment that's much heavier on one category than it is on the other. They then recap their over/unders, which featured a funky ending yet again. Overall, the game was a tragedy but you still need to digest it with Redskins Talk. If you like podcasts where Mitch tells JP that no one cares about his ankle and Tandler goes real deep into how many La-Z-Boys he has, then this is the episode for you.

A fantastic 1-on-1 interview with Adrian Peterson and projecting how Monday night's showdown will unfold Oct 07, 2018
    Show notes

Your Redskins-less Sunday just got better, thanks to JP Finlay, Rich Tandler, Pete Hailey and John Keim. Before getting to an excellent interview with Adrian Peterson, the guys participate in their new "How the Game Will Unfold" segment, as each tries to imagine what will take place in New Orleans on Monday. They also take sides on over/unders, and it becomes clear that no one can really agree when or even if Drew Brees is going to break the passing yardage record against the 'Skins. Then comes JP's sitdown with Peterson. In their chat, you'll hear the running back reflect on his whirlwind journey with the Burgundy and Gold thus far, bring up some lofty goals and explain where his ridiculous handshake came from. If you like podcasts where Tandler is at his best when it comes to making unnecessary and unfair clarifications and Peterson addresses the people who question whether he can keep up his production all 2018, then this is the episode for you.

How much would Doctson being inactive matter? Plus the setting of over/unders and the final bye week rankings Oct 05, 2018
    Show notes

JP Finlay, Rich Tandler, Pete Hailey and John "I only show up on Fridays" Keim have lots of football and lots of shtick for you to start your weekend. To open up this Redskins Talk, the four discuss Josh Doctson being in a walking boot and how much his absence would really affect the offense on Monday night. Another injury chat follows, this one about Trent Williams, which leads to a bold bet made by Tandler. Next, Tandler does his weekly inactives projection, but this edition of that segment is particularly boring and slow. Listen anyways, though. After that comes the setting of Week 5 over/unders, including an interesting one regarding Drew Brees' pursuit of history. And lastly, the hosts revisit each other's bye weeks and put out the final rankings of who had the best one. Let's just say Pete isn't the winner. If you like podcasts where Tandler's got his shades on and everyone's bye weeks are compared to college football bowl games, then this is the episode for you.

An update on Josh Doctson's heel and another installment of the oral history of 1991 featuring Earnest Byner Oct 04, 2018
    Show notes

It takes just two to tango on this episode of Redskins Talk, as JP Finlay and Rich Tandler lead the action together after Thursday's practice. The guys give listeners an update on Josh Doctson's heel, as the mystery at least becomes a tiny bit clearer, and also try to figure out if Adrian Peterson playing Monday is truly a lock. Also in this episode is the second installment of JP's look back at the magical 1991 season, and this one features Earnest Byner. What does the 'Skins running back remember about that team and that run to the Super Bowl? If you like podcasts where JP gets offended that people thinks he drinks too much alcohol and Byner tells some incredible stories about arguably the best team in the history of the sport, then this is the episode for you.

Trying to make sense of Josh Doctson's interesting Wednesday and taking an early look at the test vs. the Saints Oct 03, 2018
    Show notes

JP Finlay, Rich Tandler and Pete Hailey gathered 'round the picnic table in Ashburn to bring you this packed pod. First, the three guys give the necessary injury updates, checking up on Adrian Peterson, Trent Williams and Josh Doctson, who had an interesting Wednesday. The receiver was missing for at least part of practice and afterward, Jay Gruden delayed giving an update until Thursday. What's that all mean? Following that, JP gets the hosts talking about Mack Brown's return and what it could mean about Peterson's status the rest of the way. Next, they start to look ahead to Monday's showdown vs. the Saints, discussing how much a win would improve their perception around the league, before Tandler brings up a couple of topics regarding Washington's standing in the NFL through their first three games. If you like podcasts where an amazing, new Redskins Talk measuring stick is invented and Tandler refuses to do anything even remotely nice for Pete's birthday, then this is the episode for you.

Jay Gruden goes 1-on-1 to reflect on his team's progress, plus it's time to re-evaluate the Redskins' NFC East chances Oct 01, 2018
    Show notes

Mitch is still abroad and Pete is nowhere to be found but JP Finlay and Rich Tandler were at Redskins Park as the team returned from their bye week and are here to guide you through this new Redskins Talk chapter. First, the two hosts get you up to speed on the health of some key players. Then, they toss to JP's weekly, exclusive 1-on-1 with Jay Gruden, where the head coach explains Adrian Peterson's importance to the offense, looks at Jonathan Allen's growth as a player and gives his assessment of the scary Saints offense. After that, JP and Rich pick back up by examining the NFC East. Are the Giants dead? Are the Cowboys a threat at all? Do the Redskins have a legit chance of winning the division? All those questions and more are answered in that segment. And finally, the action wraps up with Tandler defending himself from all the haters who think he's not tech-savvy, which is a very fun few minutes. If you like podcasts where Tandler has an early swing-and-miss zing and JP displays an impressive amount of knowledge about bursa sacs, then this is the episode for you. ALSO - thank you to all listeners who helped us set ANOTHER monthly record. Now go follow us on Instagram (@RedskinsTalkPod) and leave some more reviews.

You'll also hear some of the more memorable Game Balls and Goats snippets from Weeks 1-3. Enjoy it, and be sure to check back soon as the guys return to prep for New Orleans.

Naming players to watch from now on, ranking bye week activities and an EPIC interview with Oktoberfest Mitch Sep 28, 2018
    Show notes

Here's a Redskins Talk installment that perfectly blends football and shtick. JP Finlay, Rich Tandler and Pete Hailey are your guides for the action and they welcome regular guest John Keim on to join them for the proceedings. First, the four each choose a player to watch on the 'Skins once they return from the bye (JP, of course, doesn't exactly abide by the "one player" designation). Players listed include Vernon Davis and Montae Nicholson. Then, they each explain what they're doing on their bye weeks and ask around for rankings on who's doing the bye week right. As you can imagine, everyone's handling the time off VERY differently, so there's some fun discussion and jabs here. And finally...no, sorry, and FINALLY... you get to hear the legendary interview with Mitch Tischler, as the big man checks in from Germany and Oktoberfest. It doesn't get much better than this segment, guys, so listen to it once and then listen to it again. If you like podcasts where Keim sabotages himself in the rankings with one lame activity and Mitch is literally living his best life, then this is the episode for you.

Talking important NFL issues with the NFLPA's DeMaurice Smith and choosing the team's surprises and disappointments Sep 26, 2018
    Show notes

This is a neat little episode of Redskins Talk for those of you itching for content on the bye. JP Finlay, Rich Tandler and Pete Hailey briefly welcome you in before tossing to JP and Rich's chat with the Executive Director of the NFLPA DeMaurice Smith. Smith is about as sharp as a guest as Redskins Talk as ever had, and he's willing to answer questions on the roughing the passer calls that are plaguing the league, player safety as a whole and how the NFL views marijuana vs. painkillers. After that strong interview, the three hosts debate the Redskins' biggest surprise player and biggest disappointment player through three weeks of the season. Who makes the good list and who finds themselves on the not-so-good-list? If you like podcasts where Tandler gets screwed by traffic before an interview he set up and the guys do their best to treat the bye like the midway point of the season even though it's certainly not, this is the episode for you.
