The Loveland Frogman Nov 02, 2021

Show notes

Welcome to a LIVE HALLOWEEN special! This week, we literally travelled to Loveland, Ohio and recorded our episode on the Loveland Frogman live on Instagram and Facebook. So, what is the Loveland Frogman? It is a four-foot, half humanoid half frog-like creature with leathery skin that was spotted by business men back in the 1950s and a few police officers in the 1970s. He is known to wear rags of clothes, stand on his hind legs, and wave a magical wand that shoots fireballs. Crazy? Perhaps. A ton of fun? Absolutely. We even find a way to tie Pokemon Go into this. Haunted Leap Castle Oct 19, 2021

Show notes

Leap Castle is in Offaly county and has been around for centuries. It was even burnt down in 1922 due to tension of loyalties between Britain and Ireland. However, there are many that say ghosts, and other spirits, have deep roots in Leap Castle, like The Priest in the bloody chapel,or Emily and Charlotte who play in the main entrance, or the slaughtered Red Lady who died a tragic death. Others say there is a far more sinister entity that stalks the castle, known as an elemental. But, do we find it believable? Listen now! The Not Deer Cryptid Oct 05, 2021

Show notes

The Not Deer
In this episode of Believing the Bizarre, we dive into the mysterious world of the "not deer" - a cryptid that's been haunting the forests of Appalachia and gaining traction on social media.
These creatures appear to be ordinary deer at first glance, but upon closer inspection, something is terrifyingly off.
We explore witness accounts describing deer with predatory forward-facing eyes, mismatched proportions, too many eyes, or legs that bend the wrong way. Some even report these creatures standing on two legs and maintaining unnerving eye contact with humans.
The not deer has become a modern folk cryptid, with many comparing it to skinwalkers due to its uncanny valley effect and seemingly intelligent behavior.
Throughout the episode, we examine possible rational explanations, including chronic wasting disease - a condition that causes deer to literally waste away while still alive - as well as rabies and mange.
We share chilling firsthand encounters from Reddit users and explore the lore surrounding these creatures, including one particularly unsettling story about a massive buck that maintained eye contact while standing over an unusually large dead raccoon.

Sirens and Mermaids Sep 07, 2021

Show notes

Sirens and Mermaids | Paranormal Podcast

Tyler went into this episode about mermaids and sirens fully prepared to hate it — sirens and mermaids felt too fairy tale, too Disney, too "that's dumb" — and then he actually started researching and had to eat his words, because the mythology runs way deeper and way darker than either of us expected.

We broke down the difference between sirens and mermaids (one's half bird, one's half fish, and yes it matters), traced the lore across Greek mythology, African water spirits, and European folklore, and discovered that Alexander the Great's sister apparently became a mermaid after she died and spent eternity pop-quizzing sailors in the Mediterranean with surprisingly high stakes.

We also got into some genuinely creepy modern encounters, including a Reddit story from a sober guy on a yacht in the Arabian Sea who came face to face with something in the water that had no irises, a growing mouth, and zero chill — and a short story at the end that had us both a little unsettled in a way we didn't expect. Throw in the question of what these things actually might be if they're real, some rum-soaked sailors, and a TikTok that may or may not have gotten someone killed, and yeah — this ended up being a pretty great episode.

Episode Keywords:

Sirens and mermaids, mermaid mythology, siren Greek mythology, paranormal ocean encounters, unexplained sea creatures, mermaid sightings, Alexander the Great mermaid, Odyssey sirens, African water spirits Mami Wata, half human half fish, ocean paranormal, mermaid folklore history, ancient sea myths, real mermaid encounters, believing the bizarre podcast
