Following Jesus Every Day and Everywhere with Everyone - Video Feb 05, 2017

Show notes

This Sunday we had the privilege of hearing the Word of God preached by Dr. Emmanuel Bellon, international leadership consultant, and friend of Bel Air Church. Dr. Bellon comes to us from Nairobi, Kenya, and is largely responsible for establishing our partnership with CECA church in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dr. Bellon opens the scriptures to encourage us with his thoughts about our vision to follow Jesus every day and everywhere with everyone.

Bless Radically Jan 29, 2017

Show notes

Continuing with the trend of making all of us uncomfortable, Dr. Sams reminds us that in the conflicts we will face with evil, we ourselves fall short of God's standards. Our righteousness is worthless. Yet, there are steps we can follow to be filled with Christ's righteousness. Though our brokenness gets the best of us again and again, we can choose another way, Christ's Way. Would you listen, and hear this most relevant Gospel message? It can change you, and the people you engage in life. It is full of power and wonder.

Love Differently Jan 22, 2017

Show notes

If you've been to Bel Air Church or listened to our sermons for the past 3 years, you've probably heard Dr. Sams use an intriguing word: xenophilia. Basically, this is love of stranger, and is embodied in the word "hospitality". This isn't the kind of "being nice to your house guests" hospitality (although that kind is included). It's the kind where you are so in touch with your identity in Christ, that you see Christ in the stranger, and therefore, extend uncommon love and sacrifice for their needs. It's the stuff church is made of. Have a listen to this sermon, and hear not only the gospel, but a great testimony from one of our newest parishioners of how xenophilia at Bel Air Church changed him.

Pray Continually - Video Jan 15, 2017

Show notes

When the church started in the first century, the Greek word for hope indicated that things were bound to go badly, and one could only *hope* things would not. Hope is a play on words in Romans 12:12. Dr. Sams takes us deeper into the word, and uses scripture to expand the meaning of "hope" to its truth: that we anchor in Jesus Christ, and He never fails us. If you are frustrated with prayer, or how your life is going, or with God Himself, do not miss the Good News in this sermon.

Serve Passionately Jan 08, 2017

Show notes

Becoming a community that serves passionately hinges on our relationships with God. We cannot allow our zeal to diminish if we want our church to flourish. Dr. Sams reminds us that Scripture tells us we are to do *exactly* that, directly. It is a divine imperative. Even when we don't feel like obeying God, we can choose zeal. We can choose fervency. We can call on infinite strength and the Spirit always provides. Listen, and be encouraged about the possibility when that fire spreads.
