Below Deck's Original Chief Stew Adrienne Gang (on Captain Lee, Kate Chastain, & Current Season Drama) Jul 07, 2021
    Show notes

Below Deck’s Adrienne Gang steps Behind The Rope. The original Kate Chastain, we mean Chief Stew, Below Deck, Season One. Adrienne shares how she originally got involved with one of Bravo’s top rated shows, what filming with Captain Lee was like, the real reasons why she did not come back for any future seasons, and what she thinks of her replacement, Kate Chastain. Adrienne shares an update on her current relationships with both Captain Lee and Kate Chastain as well as Chef Rachel, who she also knows in real life. Adrienne chats about who she has worked with in the real world from the Below Deck family and who she would never work with. Adrienne chats about the last season of Below Deck Med, the infamous termination of Hannah Ferrier, what she thinks of Captain Sandy and Malia White and the outpouring of on-line “hate” directed toward both. Speaking of Malia and Captain Sandy, both are back in the new season of Below Deck Med. We discuss both, Bravo’s decision to bring both back, the on-line petition to boycott watching, the new crew, some of whom Adrienne knows, and what we predict will happen as the season plays out. Adrienne has a brand new Below Deck Podcast, “Gangplank Report”. Feel free to check it out, after, you listen to this episode, of course! Is anyone else as excited as we are that the new season of Below Deck Med has begun?

TIFFANY (on New Music, New Tour, The 80s, Debbie Gibson, Madonna & More!) Jul 06, 2021
    Show notes

Tiffany steps Behind The Rope. Yes, Tiffany. No last name needed Tiffany. Checking in from the road from the North American Leg of her “Shadows” Tour, one thing is clear. Tiffany is thrilled to be back on the road performing songs from her 11th full length studio album “Shadows” as well as all her retro hits we have come to know and love so much. .Tiffany chats about what it was like to larger than life famous at the young age of 16, thanks, in large part to her catchy hit “I Think We’re Alone Now” as well as a ground breaking, now infamous, mall tour that took her across America. Tiffany chats about her almost four decade long music career which has included every genre of music - pop, punk, country, ballads, rock and the ups and downs she has faced in the music business along the way. We chat about some of those other Female Icons that ruled the charts at the time Tiffany came into her own - Madonna, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Paula Abdul, and Cyndi Lauper. We chat about her best celeb experiences - she really has met everyone - and how music has changed over the years. Tiffany discuses those other aspects of her career such as acting and reality TV - shows she has been involved in, the good, the bad, the other. Of course, we had to chat about her ties to Debbie Gibson, their friendship, their starring roles together in the SyFy classic “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (yes, it is as good as it sounds), and why the public always has associated and does and will associate each with the other. We talk about some of Tiffany’s recent tours with other acts we just can’t get enough of like NKOTB, Salt-N-Pepa, and Naughty By Nature. Tiffany reveals the current crop of musical chart topers she puts her stamp of approval on and how different being famous at a young age in the social media world of today is to her epic breakthrough in the 80’s. Finally, seeing as Music Biopics are all the rage (Elton John, Freddy Mercury, Cher), Tiffany reveals who she would love to play her in her very own life story and just what can we expect from a potential Tiffany “tell-all” book. Have we mentioned just how thrilled we are that Tiffany is back live with new music touring the states for the remainder of the year!

    Show notes

UB40 steps Behind the Rope. Robin Campbell and Jimmy Brown, two of the members of the iconic band, are here to chat about their rise from humble beginnings and first show in a local pub over five decades ago to national superstardom and global musical domination. Best know for their songs “Red Red Wine” and “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You”, UB40 chats about their musical inspirations, the ups and downs of the music business, the secret to success and longevity in this business, and intense appreciation they have to still be selling out arenas on their global worldwide tour which will commence later this year in support of their just released album. Of course, we chat about what the music scene was like when they were “up and coming” with colleagues / contemporaries such as Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner and so on. Robin and Jimmy chat about that one time they “shunned” Sharon Stone from performing with them, their cameo in the underrated “Speed Two” with Sandra Bullock, what they think of Cher whose “I Got You Babe” they covered, the current state of music show competitions such as American Idol and America’s Got Talent, and the current state of the music industry today. One word, auto-tune. The boys now have a new album, “Bigga Baggariddim”, and are about to embark on a sold out stadium tour oversees. We look back, chat about the present and look ahead to what is next for this classic super group that just won’t slow down!

Cristy Rice (The Real Housewives of Miami) - Part II Jul 01, 2021
    Show notes

Real Housewives of Miami Cristy Rice steps back Behind The Rope. (For everyone who missed it, our Part I sit down with Cristy is available on our feed! Feel free to check it out.). We get right into it today. Cristy talks about how her and Larsa were “set up” by Lea Black during a Watch What Happens Live Appearance. She discusses Andy Cohen’s role. Juicy Stuff. She also discusses fellow cast mates Lea Black and Adriana de Moura, how they changed as a result of fame and being in the public eye. Also, Cristy reminds us that the only live reunion in reunion history was the Season One reunion of The Real Housewives of Miami. We discuss what that was like, what went horribly wrong, and how Andy Cohen handled the situation. She also discusses the pressures to “create” fake story lines such as dating on camera and the other “non real” aspects of RHOM, a reality show. She explains the disconnect between presenting her real life versus what the producers wanted, how Bethenny Frankel influenced her decision to do the show, the reality of what the show turned out to be, and how she felt she was edited once the show came out. Cristy discusses who she keeps in touch with from her cast of RHOM, how Miami is a “small place” where you can’t help but run into her fellow cast mates, and who she wishes she never sees again. We discuss her friendship with Larsa Pippen during the height of the hit Bravo show, their falling out, Larsa’s involvement with the Kardashians, and the current state of their friendship today. Of course, we address the age old question, “Would you ever go back?” which now that the show has been Green Lit and is currently filming to come back, makes this question more relevant than ever!

John Blizzard (on Puppygate, Erika Jayne/Tom Girardi Divorce, Boss Lisa Vanderpump, VPR, & RHOBH) - Part II Jun 30, 2021
    Show notes

John Blizzard steps Behind The Rope. Yes, THAT John Blizzard. The John Blizzard who sent those infamous text messages to Teddi Mellencamp that were at the focal point of “Puppygate” and Lucy Lucy Apple Juice’s adoption by Dorit Kemsley on the classic Bravo show that we all know and love so much, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Of course, we need a few things clarified about this situation and Mr. Blizzard is here to help. A wise choice if we must say so ourselves considering John Blizzard was at the center of this drama that we saw play out week after week on RHOBH. John opened up about what was going through his mind when these texts became a major storyline, when they, whether directly or indirectly ended a many year friendship between Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards, and ended his own “relationship”, whatever that may have been, with Teddi Mellencamp. John also gives us an update on the current state of affairs at Vanderpump Dogs and fills us in on what LVP and Ken Todd have been up to. We chat with John about this past season of RHOBH, newbies Crystal Kung Minkoff and Kathy Hilton and the changing by the day divorce between and alleged criminal investigation into Erika and Tom Girardi. Speaking of Bravo shows featuring LVP, John discusses the current state of filming for the new season of Vanderpump Rules, the terminations / exits of series regulars Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor, Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright, and the multitude of spin off and new VanderShows being pitched to Bravo and other networks. John chats with us about LVP’s reaction to the recent cast changes on Pump Rules and her thoughts on the matter. A Texas native, John is also close with many of our RHOD friends. You know what that means? We discuss the last season of The Real Housewives of Dallas, his own personal off camera relationships with D’Andra Simmons and the gang and share an update about OG LeeAnne Locken. Finally, we discuss the passing of Giggy Vanderpump, who as Andy Cohen recently tweeted, was the First Pet of Bravo. John fills us in on how Ken and Lisa are handling the situation considering Giggy was like a child to them and we chat about the BravoVerse’s outpouring of emotion for the beloved dog. Tune in now for this Part II explosive sit down with the one and only John Blizzard.

ISAAC MIZRAHI (on Madonna & Sandra Bernhard, RHOBH / RHONY Fashion & Current Seasons, Sex And The City Reboot, SJP & More!) Jun 28, 2021
    Show notes

Isaac Mizrahi steps Behind The Rope. We have to stop meeting like this! Fashion Icon, Performer, Reality TV Star, Housewives Aficionado, Living Legend. Isaac and David get right into it breaking down some of Isaac’s forays in front of the camera such as “Unzipped”, his brilliant before its time Fashion Documentary, and his talk show which hosted a plethora of our fav celebs - Rosie O’Donnell, Belinda Carlisle, Debbie Harry, Queen Madonna, Project Runway All Stars and Bravo's The Fashion Show. Isaac talks about early life in NYC, acquiring his epic Greenwich Village Combo Apt, and the many wild nights out with Gal Pals Madonna and Sandra Bernhard. Of course, we needed all the details about what nights out looked liked for Isaac, Sandy B, and M back in the day. Think Burlesque, one famed East Side hotel, Dinner in Paris with Madonna Security, and Mr. Chow’s with, what else, a side of Naomi Campbell. Being a frequent guest on WWHL, Isaac knows all our fav Housewives. Isaac gives us his hot takes on Housewives fashion, these current seasons of RHONY and RHOBH, the ongoing debate of Dorit vs. Erica Jayne for “best dressed”, the every changing faces of the Housewives, and, being a cabaret star himself, Lu’s classic Countess Cabaret - coming back re-invented to a theater near you soon! Isaac chats about how fashion shows and red carpets have drastically changed over the past year, what he sees for the future of both as well as fashion and what we can expect from the upcoming Anna Wintour’s Met Ball - hosted by Timothée Chalamet and Billie Eilish. We also chat about the Sex In The City revival, the lack of Patricia Field’s involvement, and whether he has heard from BFF SJP about a potential role. Finally, it is June which can only mean one thing - Gay Pride Month and we could not think of a more quintessential gay New Yorker than Mr. Mizrahi to help break it all down.

Toni Basil (on "Mickey", Dance, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Tina Turner, Bowie, Bette Midler, & Epic Career)! Jun 25, 2021
    Show notes

Oh Mickey, you’re so fine. You’re so fine, you blow my mind. Hey Mickey, Hey Mickey. You know the rest. Everyone knows the rest! Toni Basil steps Behind The Rope. Yup, THAT Toni Basil who broke many records with one of the biggest hits and most catchy songs, well, ever. Toni is here to chat about her entire career, a career that has spanned a whopping six decades and still going strong. A career that includes dancing, choreographing, singing, and acting. We start at the beginning, Toni was drawn to the business at a young age with parents who were entertainers, taking up dance and cheering while in High School. Toni’s passion for dance, she was one of the seven original Lockers, landed her premiere gigs as a choreographer working with musical icons like Tina Tuner and David Bowie. Toni opens up about what working with each was like and what music legends she would still like to work with. Toni has also choreographed many of our fav films including “My Best Friends Wedding” - we chat about what working with Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz was like - and “Legally Blond” - we chat about the joys of teaching Reese Witherspoon moves and the infamous “bend and snap”. One Icon Toni has, not only worked with, but became close lifelong friends with is Bette Midler. Toni chats about what working with Bette is like and what it is like to be BFF’s with one of the most recognized women in the world. Toni chats about how she went from choreographer behind the camera to singer with “Mickey”, a song that tops every Top 100 songs of the 80’s list ever made. Toni chats about what it was like to be a singer in the early 1980s when contemporaries like Madonna were rising up the musical scene as well. We discuss the influence of MTV in helping make a singer’s career in the early 80s and the concept, dance, and look - she wore her original high school cheerleading sweater - she created for “Mickey” which helped make it one of the most played videos in MTV’s early days. A triple threat, Toni has also starred in many movies and TV shows working with greats like Robert Downy, Jr. and Penny Marshall. Toni chats about how the business has changed over the years, what she thinks of current music, who she would like to play her in the movie of her life, and what is next for the woman who just doesn’t want to slow down. Finally, we need to know about the last time she hit the town with BFF Bette Midler and just what do these two lifelong friends do for a girls night out.

Bobby Boyd on (MDLLA, Hubby Josh Flagg, RHOBH, & Becoming the Next Martha Stewart) Jun 24, 2021
    Show notes

Million Dollar Listing’s Bobby Boyd steps Behind The Rope. Mr. Josh Flagg. However, there is much more to Bobby Boyd than his husband. Coming from humble beginnings, Bobby became a male model at the young age of 14 in order to help pay for college. Even though Bobby had early success as a fashion model woking for major designers such as Versace and Calvin Klein, he set his sights on something else when he arrived in Los Angeles, Real Estate. Having a keen eye for style, architecture, design and a “personable” rather than “transactional” approach, Bobby’s first home sale was that of a $6.5 million dollar property, not bad, and a new career was born. Bobby then met a man who shared his interests and profession who happened to, not only be one of LA’s top real estate agents, but also one of the long standing members of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles. Bobby chats about meeting Josh, their instant chemistry and connection, his position working with Josh at Rodeo Realty, a flash mob proposal in Paris and wedding at The Beverly Hills Hotel, both of which were filmed by Bravo. Bobby chats about that, Josh’s sometime over the top extravagant style, and what working with his spouse every day is like. When not busy with MDL-LA, Bobby can be seen on his very own Lifestyle You Tube Channel, “Bobby Boyd Living” or selling his brand new aprons which are stylish, edgy and fun (no really check out his on line store). Finally, Bobby also discusses MDLLA - how does his style differ from Josh’s, the Brtits, Altman, Tracy Tutor and Fredrik Eklund, the conflicts, those over the top open houses, celeb clients and last, but not least, when we can expect and what we can expect from the upcoming MDLLA Season Thirteen.

MADONNA'S Blond Ambition / Truth or Dare / Girlie Show Dancer - Carlton Wilborn (Part II) Jun 23, 2021
    Show notes

Madonna’s Blond Ambition & Girlie Show Tour Dancer, Carlton Wilborn, steps Behind The Rope. One of the Iconic Seven chosen by Madonna herself to be part of the Record Breaking Blond Ambition Tour and subsequent Game Changer Film (the Real World and “Reality TV” did not exist!), Truth or Dare. After a brief foray into Carlton’s early career in dance, where he attended classes with Michelle Obama, we get right into how he was hired as one of Madonna’s Seven Blond Ambition Tour Dancers - the audition process, the answering machine message from M, the wild night out with Madonna, and the ultimate tour offer. In true Madonna fashion, she was the first, not only in the “reality” format but the first to show gay men with full actualized lives on screen. Carlton reflects about the 1980s and 1990s Madonna of yesteryear, what the country was like at the time with the initial onset of AIDS, and how he was able to perform night after night living with his own secret of being HIV positive. He also discussed what it was like to be on a tour that the Pope tried to ban, that was one of the highest grossing tours at that point to date, and which Rolling Stone lists as one of the 50 greatest of all time. Carlton details all the late night talks with Madonna, the after parties, and her advice. He talks about the constant parade of Celebrities backstage coming to pay respects and bow to Queen M. Carlton describes how he heard from Madonna years later when it was time to go back out on the road for The Girlie Show Tour. Carlton discusses the differences in himself, the production, the choreography, the music, and last, but certainly not least, in Madonna from The Blond Ambition Tour in 1990 to The Girlie Show Tour in 1993. Carlton discusses his relationship with Madonna after the end of that tour and how in 2016 Hollywood came a knocking, this time in the form of the phenomenal documentary Strike A Pose about the lives of the 7 male dancers who joined Queen M on her Blond Ambition Tour. Carlton opens up about his other accomplishments, acting, author, current life coach and what he would say to Madonna if she walked into the room today!
