In this episode, we sit down with Mia Rose, the anti-fascist tactical trans e-girl from Eugene, Oregon. We discuss the importance of arming trans women and other marginalized groups, as well as the challenges they face when learning how to operate firearms. Trans Trailblazer: Calpernia Addams from Nashville showgirl to LA songbird Apr 26, 2023

On this episode of Beauty Translated, Carmen sits down with her childhood hero, Calpernia Addams to discuss her life and legacy. Calpernia takes us on a journey from her upbringing in the South to serving in the military and eventually becoming a Nashville showgirl in the 90s. The trajectory of her life took a tragic turn with the murder of her boyfriend Barry Winchell, which led her to move to Chicago and eventually meet Andrea James, with whom she started Deep Stealth Productions.

Calpernia shares stories about the making of the movies "Soldier's Girl" and "Transamerica," her viral YouTube videos "Bad Questions to Ask a Transsexual," and her hit single "Stunning." She also discusses her music and life today with her six pet birds.

Trans Trailblazer: Julia Serano on transmisogyny and the social contagion myth Apr 12, 2023

Carmen talks with renowned author Julia Serano about her 2007 book Whipping Girl that defined trans feminism, and how those concepts hold up today- and maybe even need to be reintroduced to younger generations of queer and trans people. They also discuss her 2019 book Sexed Up and how some of those concepts may explain the current wave of gay and trans people being labeled as "groomers" by the rising Christo-facist movement in the US.

Topics include: Trans misogyny and effemimania in the current day, the pros and cons of the greater trans umbrella, the rebirth of the word "Transsexual" and why specific language is important.
