    Beating Pressure

Beating Pressure with Poise. Cracking the pressure code Pressure ( F Words) • Flummoxed- To be confused or perplexed • Flustered-a state of nervous confusion • After the code is broken • Why do they not press in the NBA…Because they understand the numbers/ they know the pressure code • Façade: a superficial appearance, a deceptive front • Farce: Foolish Show

Cracking the PRessureCode 3 on 2 easy to beat with any spacing Why do presses work • 2 Goons ( Goon is guy who run down the court o Use Their name/ Call them back o Ian come back o Call them back before they get the ball o Goons  Don’t make long passes to Goons  Never be a Goon yourself • Every Trapped balls o Need 3 near by receivers ( 3 angles) o Before you catch the ball set your table • A press is designed to rush you into quick shots • You know have beaten a press when you have gotten an easy shot on the other end • When the ball leaves a trap o You think attack o You press you pay o Pass out vs Dribble out  When you beaten the press  Easy shot on the other end  Gives your teammates MORE time to take advantage of the situation o Influence team shot selection ( press)  Your shot selection  Reminders / Easy one  Poise in a Trap • Be a slow pivot • Piston Pass • Break a window • Be mentally tough • Eyes ( Show your teammates eyes up) • Be a Slow clock ( DO NOT GO Back to 6 oclock) • One Nervous jittery equals nervous jitter team Piston Pass o Elbow up and behind the ball ( Like a push up)  As close as possible to their body  Ball DOES NOT MOVE  Always LOADED  No Butterfly passes ( moving it all around)  Film them  Fake with your eyes o Fake with eyes and knees ( centimeter bend of the knees) o Fake with eyes and centimeter fake with knees o Follow through the window o 5 Windows  Ear, Ear, Hip, Hip and over head

    • How to get open ( 4 way Race) • Take short steps, for your first or second fake. Everything after that should be long • Four Way Race o Big steps o Straight lines o Sharp direction changes • Do not over Dance ( quick and back forth) • Go in straight lines • If we do not have spirit or energy we will have conditioning • Leaders communicate and bring energy

    Selecting an offense -
    1. Offense is ever changing however I think its important to have a staple offense that your team and program can run to fall back on.
    2. A blend of all three-motion/read and react, continuity, and sets. You have to be able to grind , execute and then just be able to play.
    3. Offense built on what you have for personale and strengths
    4. Don’t follow fads, but stick to what works for you
    5. Youth Program should follow your staple
    6. Breakdown drills should reflect your offense

.Type of COACH The System Coach The system coach has major offensive system that they will run every year. The "Non-System" Coach The non-system basketball coach changes each year depending on the type of basketball player they have in their school.

    Type of OFFENSE

Ep 2 Motion Offense This includes a non-scripted offense that that will be different each time down the court. Examples: Motion, Read and React, Dribble Drive Continuity Offenses This is a more structured offense. Examples would be the Flex/Swing, Shuffle, Triangle. Called Play Offenses A set of called plays that will have a given objective. Example: UCLA High/Low Offense. Quick Hitter Offenses This offense would have a play in which 1 or 2 passes and then a shot or look at the baket. Quick Hitters…Can Flow into a Continuity or Motion Offense. Zone Offense Will Work against a specific Zone Offense ( either an odd or even front).
