The Los Angeles Dodgers have found themselves in a sticky situation that they haven’t faced during their current championship run. Now down two games to none against the Milwaukee Brewers, they are looking for a spark to get them back in the series. However, their superstar attraction, Shohei Ohtani, is continuing to struggle, leaving many to wonder if he’s becoming a detriment to the offense.

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the bizarre day off for the Dodgers and Ohtani, which led to manager Dave Roberts expressing his full confidence in the slugging DH after reports surfaced that Shohei might be benched for Game 3. They also recap the NLCS thus far and talk about what the Brewers are doing so well that has given them the series lead.

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan take a look at the current state of the ALCS, with the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians tied at one game apiece, and discuss why this series has turned into a complete toss-up following Game 2. They then react to the breaking news that the Philadelphia Phillies are keeping Don Mattingly as their manager, awarding him a two-year contract.

Brewers take Game 1 from Dodgers, Rays-Guardians ALCS preview & White Sox season recap Oct 12, 2026
    Show notes

The NLCS rematch between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers kicked off on Monday night at American Family Field, and unlike last year’s showdown, the Brew Crew made sure they would not be swept this time around. In what was an exciting pitching duel, the Brewers won Game 1 and immediately took a 1-0 series advantage.

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap Monday night’s action, which saw Tarik Skubal and Jacob Misiorowski go head-to-head with offense at a premium. Despite The Miz not going deep in the game, it was the Brewers’ bullpen that shut down the defending back-to-back World Series champs and gave Milwaukee the edge. However, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto lurking for Game 2, will the Dodgers be able to tie the series before returning to Los Angeles?

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan recap Game 5 of the ALDS, which saw the Cleveland Guardians advance to the next round over the Chicago White Sox after what was an unexpectedly fun season from the Pope’s team. They then preview what should be an entertaining ALCS matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays, which is set to start on Monday night in St. Petersburg, with both teams eyeing a trip to the World Series.

1:30 - The Opener: Brewers take Game 1
15:18 - What to expect for Game 2
    30:12 - ALDS Game 5 recap
    38:51 - ALCS preview

Dodgers-Brewers set for NLCS rematch, White Sox-Guardians head to Game 5 & Albert Pujols joins Oct 09, 2026
    Show notes

The NLCS is set to start this weekend, and it will be a familiar matchup, as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers are set for round two, with a trip to the World Series on the line. While the Dodgers swept the Brew Crew last year, Milwaukee is looking for a different outcome this season to potentially earn its first trip to the Fall Classic since 1982.

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down the rematch between the two division winners, discuss why the Brewers are better positioned this season to make this series a little more competitive and explain why the Dodgers could be in for a rude awakening this time around. They also wonder if Shohei Ohtani will be able to find his form this round and why Jacob Misiorowski will be more impactful this time around.

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan welcome future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols to talk about his aspirations of becoming a major league manager, how he knew Junior Caminero would be a star in the league early on and his time with Ohtani when he entered the league. The guys wrap up the show by previewing the big Game 5 between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians to see who will take on the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALCS.

Rays sweep Yankees out of ALDS, Dodgers & Brewers advance to NLCS, Guardians-White Sox goes to Game 4 Oct 08, 2026
    Show notes

On Wednesday, the baseball postseason picture got a little clearer when three teams advanced to their respective League Championship Series. With the Tampa Bay Rays sweeping the New York Yankees, as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers taking care of business, there’s now one spot left in the final four.

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap all the League Division Series action so far, including the Rays taking down their division rival Yankees in The Bronx. While Tampa Bay will await to see who they play for the pennant, the bigger question is where The Bronx Bombers go from here. After yet another disappointing finish and their World Series drought hitting 17 years now, do the Yankees need a major change to get them over the hump?

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan take a look at how the Dodgers were able to overcome a rough Game 2 against the Atlanta Braves and why their starting pitching, clearly the strength of this team, is what makes them the favorites to win the World Series. They then break down an exciting Game 4 between the Brewers and San Diego Padres that saw Garrett Mitchell make an impact at the plate and on the field, helping put the Brew Crew back in the NLCS for a date with the Dodgers. The guys close the show by catching us up on where things stand between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox as they play a big Game 4 in the Windy City to see if the ALDS will go the distance.

1:44 - The Opener: Rays advance to ALCS
15:58 - Where do the Yankees go from here?
26:07 - Dodgers advance to NLCS
    48:24 - What’s next for the Braves?
53:23 - Brewers take down Padres
    1:01:13 - Padres moving forward
1:03:04 - Where things stand with White Sox-Guardians

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan give their thoughts on the Game 1 results in both ALDS games, including Drew Rasmussen completely shutting down the New York Yankees in Tampa Bay and Austin Wells' unfortunate decision on the basepaths. Yankees, Padres, White Sox all advance; Phillies-Braves play do-or-die Wild Card Game 3 Oct 01, 2026
    Show notes

As quickly as the Wild Card round began, it has already ended the season for three teams. With the New York Yankees, San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox all taking care of business in the first two games, there’s only one best-of-three series left, and it will decide who takes on the defending back-to-back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap everything that has happened in the Wild Card round so far, including the wild conclusion to the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves’ Game 2, where Bryce Harper atoned for his error in the field with a dramatic game-tying home run. They also highlight Alec Bohm’s go-ahead homer that helped seal the deal for a series-deciding Game 3 on Thursday night.

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan get into the Yankees defeating archrivals the Boston Red Sox in the Bronx, which sent the Bombers back to the ALDS to face off with AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays. Then, they recap the very disappointing showing from the Houston Astros, as they were eliminated by the Chicago White Sox, as well as try to figure out where the Chicago Cubs go from here after being knocked out by the San Diego Padres in two games.

    Wild Card Preview: Yankees-Red Sox, Braves-Phillies, Cubs-Padres & Astros-White Sox Sep 28, 2026
    Show notes

The regular season has concluded, and it is time to shift our focus to the 2026 MLB playoffs. However, first we must dive into the Wild Card round, which begins on Tuesday. With divisional foes facing off against each other, as well as past playoff rematches, the best-of-three series are going to be a doozy.

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman take a look at all four Wild Card matchups, including the New York Yankees facing off with their bitter rival, the Boston Red Sox, in the Bronx for the second consecutive year. With the Yankees opting to start Game 1 with their ace, Cam Schlittler, on the mound, will that prove to be a successful strategy in getting the Yankees to the ALDS, or will the Red Sox offense come alive and pull off the upset?

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan break down the Philadelphia Phillies versus Atlanta Braves matchup, which sees the two NL East rivals do battle in Atlanta. They then preview the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres matchup, which will take place this time at Petco Park, as well as try to make sense of what a Houston Astros-Chicago White Sox series will look like. The guys close the show by highlighting Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer's final starts in their potential Hall of Fame careers.

5:23 - The Opener: Yankees vs. Red Sox

Last look at the postseason picture, Yankees-Aaron Judge messaging problem & interim managers get deals Sep 25, 2026
    Show notes

The final weekend of the regular season is upon us, and the postseason picture is just about set. However, there are still a couple of moving pieces that need to be determined before we can officially set sail onto the best time of the year. With the NL Wild Card, AL Central and AL West all up for grabs, we’re in for an exciting regular-season finale across the league.

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman paint the picture for the series coming up, including whether the Arizona Diamondbacks can find a way into the NL Wild Card picture despite their odds being long, whether the Chicago White Sox can find a way to get back on top in the Central and who will come away with the AL West crown. Can the Houston Astros hang on and stave off the Texas Rangers to set up a matchup with the White Sox in the Wild Card round?

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan take a look at all the happenings around the league, including Max Scherzer trying to one-up Justin Verlander and pass him in career strikeouts before Verlander’s final career start, as well as some miscommunication issues between Aaron Judge, Aaron Boone and the New York Yankees. They also highlight a couple of managers who managed to parlay their interim titles into full-time positions. They then make their picks for this week’s edition of The Good, The Bad & The Uggla.

Where things stand in the final week of the season + one question for every postseason team Sep 22, 2026
    Show notes

As the 2026 MLB regular season enters its final week of games, there is still so much that needs to be decided before the postseason can officially begin. Between who will win the American League Central, which team will be the third and final AL Wild Card participant, and which team from Texas will win the AL West, there are quite a few situations we can’t wait to see how they turn out. And that’s only in the American League!

On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman take a look at the current postseason picture and try to make sense of the AL scene, as well as figure out how things will play out in the National League Wild Card situation. Will the Arizona Diamondbacks figure out a way to slither in, or will the Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies deny their entry into the postseason dance?

Later in the show, Jake and Jordan ask one big question for every postseason team that has stamped its ticket to the playoffs, including how healthy the Los Angeles Dodgers are, whether we’ll see Aaron Judge play another game this season and how hot Ronald Acuña Jr. can stay for the Atlanta Braves. They then go Around the League to discuss the Detroit Tigers’ new ballpark name, Alex Bregman’s brutal face injury and the San Francisco Giants’ bad luck with their roster this season.
