‘Well, we were talking about this in my parent group today. One of the new mothers is worried that her milk isn’t coming in well and that she will not be able to breastfeed.”

“Ohh I understand. Well, did you tell her to listen to the Badass Breastfeeding Podcast?”

Pumping and Dumping Your Breastmilk Sep 09, 2019

“Honey, I went to the dentist today and they said I need some dental work done. They have to give me medicine and the dentist told me I will have to pump and dump my milk for 24 hours. I won’t be able to feed our little guy.”

“Honey, are you sure about this? That’s kind of extreme.”

“Yes, I am not sure what to do. Dianne and Abby are talking about pumping and dumping milk on the podcast this week, but I haven’t listened yet. I am so discouraged.”

“Hey honey, a topic came up at work today that I am hoping you can help with. People at work know you are breastfeeding our little guy. One of my co-workers is pregnant and she has to have a c-section. Would that impact breastfeeding?”

“Hmm. That’s a good question honey. I have talked to a couple of new mothers who had c-sections, but I am not sure about the situations. However, breastfeeding after a c-section is the topic on the Badass Breastfeeding Podcast this week. I haven’t listened yet, but I’m sure it would be helpful.”

“Honey, breastfeeding just doesn’t feel ok.”

“Honey, what do you mean? Do you have pain?”

“Umm no. I don’t know if I can explain it. When I’m first starting to breastfeed our little guy, I just feel kinda blah. Kind of sad and empty. It’s been happening for a while, and I don’t get it. I really enjoy breastfeeding. I don’t understand why I feel like this.”

“Honey! This is amazing. Not that you feel like this, but that you are finally talking about it. Dianne and Abby have an entire episode about this! There’s a name for it and everything! You better go listen!”

“What’s wrong honey?”

“Well, we were talking about weaning in my moms group today. Some mothers mentioned that they had depression after they weaned. They didn’t know why, but they talked about feeling different after they stopped breastfeeding. What if that happens to me?”

“Honey, don’t worry. But why haven’t we heard about this before?”

“No one talks about it!!! One of the mothers said that she listened to the Badass Breastfeeding Podcast and Dianne and Abby are talking about it. I better go see if I can find that episode and listen. I feel like I should know more about this!”
