The Cardinals announced Thursday that they have a new agreement on a multi-year TV deal with FanDuel Sports Network, which is the entity formerly known as Bally Sports.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses what this means for fans, what it means for the Cardinals payroll and revenues. The details we know, the details we don't yet know, and some informed speculation on exactly what might be coming next as a result of this news.

The Cardinals did not extend a qualifying offer to Paul Goldschmidt ahead of the deadline on Monday to do so. If the team had offered a QO, it could have gained a draft pick from whichever team signs him this winter. The risk, of course, was that Goldy could have accepted it to lock in a $21 million salary with St. Louis for 2025. In a year where the Cardinals are clearly looking to shed payroll obligations, that just was not a risk the club was going to take -- even if it stinks and is another sign that the Goldy era in St. Louis is ending rather unceremoniously. Also in this episode of B-Schaeff Daily, we discuss the Cardinals going 0-for-3 with no Gold Glove finalists ultimately winning their award this year. In more MLB news from Friday, the Cardinals have claimed right-handed pitcher Roddery Munoz off waivers from the Marlins, which could be the first of many moves this off-season that see the Cardinals target unproven talents in low-risk acquisitions. Is this the type of move that makes sense for the Cardinals are they look usher in a new era under Chaim Bloom? Without overreacting to what is decidedly an under-the-radar play, Munoz has the type of characteristics that the Cardinals should be targeting over the winter as they shift from reliance on highly-paid, known commodities toward giving opportunities to younger players in 2025.

The savings amounts to around $25 million. You could make a case that the players weren't really going to be worth that. The annoying part is going to be when the Cardinals don't really spend any money to replace the production as the payroll heads into a spiral this winter. Let's talk it over as the off-season is officially underway. Follow this podcast feed for Cardinals coverage all winter!
