On the May 16 edition of The Bettor’s Box, host Adam Burke started off with a quick review of Chase Field following his vacation last weekend. Then it was into the regular format of the program, as Adam went Beyond the Box Score to check out Rockies vs. Red Sox, Padres vs. Dodgers, and Brewers vs. Phillies. He talked about some recent call-ups and looked at some noteworthy standings developments and live betting angles that could yield good money-making opportunities.
Following a quick exit velocity update and a look at line moves dating back to Monday, Adam shared his pick for Thursday night and then previewed five series coming up this weekend. On the first half of the show, the guys talked about this weekend's golf major at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
This is truly a wide-open event as outlined by host Adam Burke and esteemed guest Brian Blessing. The guys had their favorites, but also mentioned a lot of players by name for this week at Bethpage Black, where the course is long, the rough is feisty, but the greens are soft. Adam and Brian talked about favorites and some angles for betting on the different guys on the odds board.

On the Wednesday May 15 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke was joined by Brian Blessing of Sportsbook Radio and Vegas Hockey Hotline for a two-part podcast on the PGA Championship and the Preakness Stakes. On the second half of the show, the guys talked about this weekend's Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course.
The Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the Triple Crown and will be held at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday with a post time of 6:40 p.m. ET. Improbable is and will be the favorite with the Mike Smith/Bob Baffert team, but Adam and Brian had other ideas on the board. They talked about what makes this race different than the others, how much it matters to take a horse that just ran in the Kentucky Derby, and about their top picks and the betting angles that they are using to handicap the race.

UFC Predictions with Pina – UFC 237: Namajunas vs. Andrade May 10, 2019

On this May 10 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke and Christian Pina tackled UFC 237. Fight cards in Brazil are always interesting for a variety of reasons and this one is no different. The guys discussed the main event between Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade. They also talked in deep detail about Jared Cannonier vs. Anderson Silva and Jose Aldo vs. Alexander Volkanovski.
This podcast was deliberately long and detailed on those three fights because the other fights don’t offer nearly as much intrigue. Christian had some strong thoughts on a couple undercard bouts that he shared with listeners as the guys glossed over the rest of the card looking for free picks and predictions.

For this Monday May 6 edition of The Bettor’s Box, host Adam Burke opened with a couple of listener questions in the Monday Mailbag. He talked about college football strength of schedule and also parlaying big favorites on the bases. A look Beyond the Box Score focused on Nationals vs. Phillies, Red Sox vs. White Sox, Mets vs. Brewers, Cardinals vs. Cubs, and Dodgers vs. Padres. Adam also talked about specific pitcher vs. team matchups based on pitch type.
A quick look Down the Lines yielded a very important and helpful handicapping tip that Adam mentioned after talking about tonight’s free pick. If you want to get ahead of line moves and play on the likelihood of regression, Adam has a stat for you. Finally, Red Sox vs. Orioles, Braves vs. Dodgers, Diamondbacks vs. Rays, and Reds vs. Athletics were the series previewed for this week of action.

UFC Predictions with Pina – UFC on ESPN+ 9: Iaquinta vs. Cowboy May 03, 2019

On this Friday May 3 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke and UFC expert Christian Pina talked at length about this UFC Fight Night 151 card from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada with a main event of Al Iaquinta and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. The guys opened with some very interesting betting angles with this Canadian-heavy fight card and about why you may want to be looking at the native fighters.
The guys also talked about Elias Theodorou vs. Derek Brunson, the impending brawl between Cub Swanson and Shane Burgos, some up-and-coming prospects like Sergey Spivak and Marc-Andre Barriault, and even talked briefly about the superfight coming up this August between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.

2019 Kentucky Derby Betting Preview & Podcast May 01, 2019

Everybody suddenly develops an interest in horse racing when the Triple Crown rolls around. Brian Blessing plays the ponies year round. That’s why he was a perfect guest for host Adam Burke on this Kentucky Derby podcast. Adam and Brian started with some general horse racing handicapping tips regarding jockeys, trainers, and the horses themselves. They talked about bet types and strategies on race day. They also discussed what “value” is at the track.
Then, it was time to head to Churchill Downs. The guys started with the weather forecast and what impact that may have on race day. They broke down the field for the Kentucky Oaks and both Brian and Adam gave out some of their analysis. The Kentucky Derby is the crown jewel of the weekend and the most talked about race. Brian shared some of his picks and Adam threw in a few of his as the guys talked about some of the complexities of betting this race and some of the things to keep in mind regarding jockeys and trainers.
