    FEATURED MUSIC:

Jabre "Saintx Bre" Relaford, formerly known as Brefontaine, is a proud representative of southwest Atlanta. He was brought up in a house of music and film where his parents usually played a variety of music and had family movie nights, which ultimately inspired him to be an actor. And then there was Hip-Hop. Coming up in an era where rap culture was largely unaccepted, this intrigued the young artist to be. "There was something in rap that reminded me of movies and comics. Characters, purpose and flaws, but also freedom." This would be the beginning of what he calls "the actor who happens to rap."

After years of working with both locals and legends, like Slim of 112, Amon Tobin (as Brefontaine), Rock City and even an uncredited feature as a guitarist for Chris Brown (Gravity), Saintx began to feel stagnant and trapped in his craft.

After months of debating, he sold most of his belongings, and began to backpack across America. Without computer or camera he'd take his beloved iPhone and film his travels and record original songs, but only releasing them on social media.

"At the time, I didn't think what I was doing was anything special. I mainly was recording demos and ideas so I wouldn't forget them." His new single The Sun would prove otherwise.

    S3, E9 Apr 16, 2020

The MLS has basically come out and said there might not be enough time for a full season as their mid-May target date isn't going to happen.

Full season is still their goal but seems unlikely

They have discussed doing a tournament style play in a few cities behind closed doors (would this be like all East/ West bracket style?)

Would there still be an MLS Cup champion?

They are doing a eMLS tournament with real players - Franco Escobar will face Orlando City SC's Nani in Episode Four on Sunday, May 10 at 7 p.m.

R Land (Pray for Atlanta artist) has updated his famous design to say “Wash for ATL”, he is selling t-shirts, mugs, magnets and $10 of each sale will be donated to The United Way of Greater Atlanta in their efforts to keep our community safe during the spread of COVID-19/Coronavirus. They have a Red and Black one for Atlanta United and Josef was actually spotted wearing one! Link to the shirts will be in the episode’s show notes.

“What we do in life echoes in eternity.” is tattooed on his neck

“God is my guide and family is my strength” is tattooed on his forearms

    “Atlanta es familia”

“We are the only team in this city that wins shit” - thank you felipe cardenas keep doing what you are doing!

A core memory about his grandparents that would shape him fundamentally -

“That’s the thing I remember most about growing up with him and my grandmother: They really cared about whatever they did. My parents had me and my sister at a young age, so my childhood was just different. My grandparents saw the darkness of the world — the crime and the struggle in Colombia — before they moved to Venezuela. So it made me see the world as a place where you had to work hard for everything you got. Everything. You had to care. Otherwise you’d be in trouble.”

What does Atlanta mean to you? - “Atlanta is family. Atlanta means family.”

    Injury Report

It is with heavy hearts that we announce (and most of yall already know) that Josef suffered an ACL tear during the MLS opener

Typical recovery for this type of injury is 3M to running, 6M to cutting and 9-12M to get back fully recovered mentally and physically

We still don't know if it is a partial or full tear yet

This could mean PB&J will never play together again as it is realistic Barco gets traded in the offse ason

Josef has scored almost 40% of Atlanta United’s goals (that is over our entire history)

Escobar was seen holding his right thigh at halftime and was taken off precautionary reasons

Miles has started running but not training with the team yet

    Edgar Castillo (rib injury)

Total Tactics (makes the most since after injury report IMO and just focus on Josef)

What does our lineup look like without Josef?

174 of our 198 goals (historically - all time) have been scored by Josef, Villabla, Miggy and Gressel

Will we find a replacement or run with Adam Jahn?

    Season-ending Injury List:

“Though it would come with the thudding finality that we won't get to see the superstar play until 2021, Atlanta could place Martinez on the season-ending injury list. Such a move would render him ineligible across all competitions for the remainder of the year, but they'd get some roster relief.

Atlanta wouldn't get his Designated Player slot back, but, as Martinez makes more than $100,000 this season, they would be eligible to receive another senior roster spot to sign a replacement player. The replacement player can be signed for up to $250,000 this season, which would be an exemption on top of the salary cap.

The 2018 MLS Cup winners would not be able to use allocation money to buy down that figure, meaning they couldn't acquire a player on more than $250,000 if they are designated as an injury-replacement. Theoretically, they could clear another senior roster spot to sign a more expensive player, should they have the budget (and/or allocation money) to do so.

Atlanta United have until the end of the Primary Transfer Window (May 5) to decide to place Martinez on the season-ending injury list and sign a replacement. Clubs can only sign one replacement player per season.”

    Injury List:

Placing Martinez on the injured list would crack the door open for a late-season return while still offering some limited roster relief. The move would make him ineligible for a minimum of six MLS league games. During the time Martinez is out, the club would have an extra senior roster spot to use. If he returns, the club would lose that extra roster spot.

This move doesn't come with any additional budget help, but the club could spend whatever they could fit under the salary cap on that player.

Remember: Atlanta acquired a base of $750,000 Targeted Allocation Money plus an additional $350,000 in incentives from D.C. United for Julian Gressel, as well as $1.05 million in allocation from Columbus Crew SC for Darlington Nagbe. They also received a transfer fee for Tito Villalba, up to $1 million of which can be converted into General Allocation Money.

Robinson and Castillo have still not been seen practicing with ATL UTD yet

    Hairwatch!

He did it, he changed his hair again. It is still blonde (with that blue streak peaking through) but this one reminds me of the beginning of 2018 Josef. Shaved sides, medium length blonde top.

“If I don’t score, another guy may score. Then he plays. So, Martinez goes to the bench. That’s why I’m a striker, no? So, I have to score, no? If you no score, you no play.” - Josef

    Preview (Nashville)

Music City is jumping on most Saturday nights, but it will be especially rocking at Nissan Stadium when Nashville SC play their inaugural MLS match against Atlanta United.

One of two expansion sides to debut in 2020, Nashville SC made waves by acquiring 2019 Best XI center back Walker Zimmerman, who joins MLS veterans Dax McCarty and Anibal Godoy in the club's spine. Hany Mukhar will be tasked with being the offensive pulse, while Dom Badji, who has struggled to score consistently, will likely be the squad's No. 9 to start.

    S3, E1 Feb 14, 2020

    Players we lost:

Andrew Carleton (on loan to Indy Eleven)

    Dion Peirera

LGP (was 5th highest paid player on our team)

In moving LGP(110) and Gressel (115), AU has now moved it two all-time appearance leaders -

New club - Club Tijuana of Liga MX

    Pogba

    Gressel

AU acquired up to 1.1 Million in allocation money (S650k TAM in 2020 and $100k in 2021 - we can receive additional $350 TAM if he performs

    Parkhurst

Justin Meram - Salary too high for us to renew

    Vasquez

Superdraft pick up from Nashville (traded to Cincinnati FC)

Nagbe - traded to Columbus for $700,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, $150,000 in General Allocation Money and an international roster spot for the 2020 MLS season - The Crew will also pay Atlanta $200,000 in TAM for the 2021 MLS season and should Nagbe meet certain performance conditions

Tito - wanted a guarantee for more playing time.

Sold to Club Libertab (for reportedly 1.5 to 2 million)

Mikey Ambrose (we didn't renew his contract and he was picked up by Miami)

Inter Miami about to sign Pizarro from Monterrey

He would join the onslaught of Liga MX players joining MLS this year.

CBA Negotiations are done. Noteworthy changes below:

Free agency age lowered (from 28 to 24 with 5 years of play)

Senior player minimums increased to 109K

DP rule changed slightly (2 unlimited $$, 1 only unlimited $$ if player is under 23 - making sure MLS is seen as a selling league as oppose to retirement league)

Better player health and working conditions

    401K increase to 4.25%

Charter flight increase (mandatory 8 flights this year, increase to 16 by 2024)

    Increased travel per diem

We have a new sleeve sponsor - Piedmont Healthcare

New white and gold away jersey released - thoughts? (by the way, AU is the symbol for gold on the periodic table)

Rumours of a third kit to high performing teams (aka Atlanta United) via The Athletic for next year. I would take a third kit.

    MLS in 90 Seconds:

People who have left the league:

    Zlatan

Minnesota boldly decided to dump their whole team and start over.

Austin FC gets first jersey sponsor (Yeti)

Zimmerman was traded from LAFC to Nashville for 1.25 Mil in allocation money (right before CCL too, ouch)

Nashville is at a standstill with their mayor as he refused to move forward with the promised Nashville FC stadium. This is bad for the league, everyone should sign the petition

BWP is staying in the MLS and playing for LAFC

NYCFC’s CCL game moved to Red Bull Arena (they are close to securing their own stadium in the Bronx)

Inter Milan is suing MLS for trademark infringement, claiming that the term “Inter” is synonymous with its club and no one else. Inter Miami lost a key battle in the fight to keep its name which says the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) dismissed one of the MLS club’s two arguments.MLS will appeal the decision, and likely lose. -

Probably change their name to Flamingo and get sued by Brasil.

Columbus made some good moves with Nagbe, Lucas Zelarayan and Vito Wormoor (NED)

LAFC is still the team to beat. Virtually same roster plus new weapons like Uruguay U23 Francisco Ginella, Brian rod, Diego Palacios.

    Injury Report:

Bello is going to be fine- head injury is not as serious as they originally thought and he should be back on the field playing relatively soon

Miles Robinson was taking off early against Leones Negros - quad strain, hopefully back by CCL

    Beer of the Week:

    Sweetwater’s 23rd Anniversary Ale (foeder-aged sour IPA)
